The residence was more spacious and closer to the trails and coastline than first thought (this is a good thing). We saw some spectacular sunsets; enjoyed the quiet and sounds of the ocean. SeaRanch is our way of complete relaxation with family & friends. Location was close to Gualala for supplies and the Rec Center. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner at the SeaRanch Lodge - which I highly recommend. We wanted to go into the hot tub, but no time - looked like it was ready to use!

Beautiful location, spacious home. A few challenges with regards to trying to fit 2 cars in entryway behind fence due to overgrown shrubs, having to "troubleshoot" how to view Direct TV and had to request help from Vacasa office staff...recommend the owner include a note next to the wall switch in the garage bedroom to "leave on"...controls cable TV, and seems the heating element in the coffee maker is worn out as it takes a long time to brew coffee...did like the easy access laundry room too.

Wonderful Coastal Home

Our family of 6 had a wonderful weekend in this home. Plenty of room, well stocked kitchen supplies for cooking and serving up big meals. The view is breathtaking and the hot tub was a great bonus. Would love to go back sometime! Highly recommend!!

Relaxing Getaway

The House is right on the bluff. Beautiful views of the ocean. Close to trail The Kitchen was huge, beautiful and well equipped with any small appliances you may need. It is a great place to just chill. Very close to Gualala where there are a variety of restaurants and a grocery store.

Fabulous house in a dramatic location right on the coast.

The house was as described - spacious with spectacular views. The master suite upstairs is amazing, but the downstairs bedroom is really nice and comfortable with ensuite bathroom (no view, but not a big deal at all). Kitchen well equipped, access to the paths are easy and the view of the ocean and the crashing waves was fabulous. We loved the hot tub too. Wifi was great - we had 2 working parents and that was essential. Highly recommend!

Great Ocean Getaway

Had a wonderful time relaxing with the family for a couple of days. The views were spectacular. We were visited daily by deer, foxes, whales and pelicans. The house was nicely equipped and had a huge kitchen. The hot tub was also a big hit and was nicely sheltered from the inevitable ocean wind.

Summer Fun

We spent two nights at this fantastic property. People travel all over the globe to find vistas that this house offers. The bluff trail was wonderful to walk/hike. The house is located on the northern portion of The Sea Ranch making access to the golf course and town of Gualala very easy. Look forward to coming back to this gem!

December 2021 visit

Location and views were outstanding. Burned out lights took away from condition as well as drops of water on the floor from skylights after rain but overall the property was as described. The separate 3rd bedroom became an issue when rain fell on the path from main house to garage entrance.

Great view

This house is right on the bluff. Great views fantastic star watching. Fully equipped with everything needed. If you are a big TV watcher however you are out of luck. Small TV in family room. Fine for us since we didn’t really need to watch anything. Also owner doesn’t want any furniture moved and chairs and couches are awkwardly arranged. Overall however great location and large master suite. Loved our stay

Great value

The ocean views from the master bedroom are sublime. House is clean, kitchen is well equipped but pots and pans need to be upgraded. Do bring everything you need for cooking. Internet worked well, entertainment system is very outdated. The hot tub is great, much newer than it shows on the pictures. Bath and kitchen cabinets show some signs of wear. The proximity (just steps) to the bluff trail is an extra plus! The entry to the "Crow Nest" bedroom (above the garage and detached from the house) needs major updates and the bedroom has a musty smell. TV in that room is totally outdated. This is a great house and we will definitely stay there again.

Beautiful home but proceed with caution

This is a beautiful, clean home with million dollar views. The house could use a little TLC -- some appliances are broken, etc., but nothing major. There were two issues, however, and we weren't able to reach anyone about these. One, we discovered ants in the kitchen a couple hours after checking in and had to deal with those throughout our stay. Second, we discovered a group of raccoons was staying under the house. We heard them, not sure what was making the noises, but then saw them leave the house on the last day of our stay. (There is a vent cover in the back lying on the ground leaving an opening, so this is how they get in and out). Despite these issues, we enjoyed the stay quite a lot.

Unique, spacious property

A few requests: PLEASE install some dark curtains or blinds in upper windows of downstairs bedroom (windows above outside entry). Very uncomfortable in the morning with the sun shining on your head. Also, PLEASE repair/adjust windows in the downstairs bedroom. They cannot be opened; they are stuck. Also faucets in downstairs bedroom are VERY hard to turn. Otherwise we loved the house and would so love to come again. Please let us know when these items are taken care of so we can return. Thanks!

The BEST part was the view

We were so excited about the location of this property on Bluff Trail yet so disappointed in outdated and frankly dirty and stained rugs and furniture covers. We enjoyed the beaches and the trails and having a pet friendly house...Again the views were georgeous but the house and especially the outdated and (not hot) hot tub. The hot tub was especially disappointling as a major reason why we chose this home. Online pictures did not tell the story of outdated and scarred tables and stained rugs and furniture. Grill did not work for us and propane was out before we could get meat on it so we gave up quickly after we turned it on. Overall I wish I had foudd another property for sure as this did not live up to online description nor our expectations. We will not be returning to Sea Ranch and for sure not this property.

Memorable Sea Ranch Thanksgiving week 2024

For 48 years, we have not missed a Thanksgiving week at Sea Ranch. Some houses have been great, and a few not so great. This house, the Double R, has an outstanding location and ocean view. The house itself needs a little care and updating to match the premium rental charge. The kitchen counter grout, especially around the sink, is in poor condition. The cook ware was an odd collection, only a small 8x10 cutting board, frying pans in terrible shape, and The dullest knives ever (from experience, I always bring my own just in case). Upon arriving at the house and turning on the heat, we smelled an unpleasant odor. Called Vacasa and their maintenance man, Herb, said the living room had flooded in the last heavy rain storm and when we looked down into the floor heat vents we could see standing water. The hot air over this funky water and the residual moisture in the flooring was probably the source of the smell. I worry about the exposure to toxic mold. The odor did go away after 5,6 days. In this day and age, I was surprised how inefficient the toilets were. Poor flushing and wasting large amounts of water. In spite of the negatives, it was great waking up to those gorgeous sun rises and later watching spectacular sunsets.

Not what we expected

The views from the master bedroom and living area were excellent. However ... this is not a three-bedroom home. It is a two-bedroom home, with an additional dwelling unit located above the garage, which is only accessible by crossing an uncovered courtyard, unlocking two additional doors, and climbing up a steep staircase. This makes it extremely unpleasant for the unfortunate couple assigned to this "third bedroom", especially if it is raining heavily, as it was. Although the basic design of the house is acceptable, there are some ridiculous construction faults. The sliding doors on the west side of the house open onto nothing: no deck and no balcony, which is really crazy since the door from the upstairs bedroom opens onto a 12-foot drop (although the owners have thoughtfully taped a paper sign to the door saying "please do not open"). The four-panel sliding doors on the southern side have been incorrectly installed, so that it is impossible to close them such that they are sealed from incoming air. The design of the landing at the bottom of the stairs from the master bedroom is an accident waiting to happen. The house is also showing signs of its age. The cover for the cooktop downdraft vent on the outside of the house has fallen off, allowing gusts of cold air (as well as small animals) to enter the ductwork. The "cozy fireplace" in the master bedroom appeared unusable, and its chain links were covered with clumps of dust. Overall, this could be a pleasant house to visit if some work was done on it, and most importantly, if it was properly represented as a two-bedroom master house with an ADU.
