The Space:
Newly renovated for 2024! A private hot tub, ocean views, and a dog-friendly attitude await you at this classic and charming hexagon-shaped Sea Ranch home. A interior complete with a spiral staircase is the perfect home base for your next Sonoma Coast getaway.

Located right near the Shell Beach access trail (roughly a 10-minute walk), the One-Eyed Jack’s Playground, and hiking trails just steps from home, you’ll also be five miles from Gualala for groceries, dining options, and a couple of galleries.
The unique hexagon floorplan boasts dramatic vaulted ceilings, a glass-framed cupola, and plenty of windows for natural light. Upstairs, you’ll find two bedrooms and a living area with a wood-burning stove and window seat, two decks, and sweeping ocean and meadow views. Down the spiral staircase, you’ll find a relaxing sunroom with a second wood-burning stove and the primary bedroom - a relaxing retreat with views of the meadow and ocean and direct access to the hot tub area. This lower level also features the second bathroom with a Mexican hand-painted sink and a walk-in shower with a rainfall showerhead.
Outdoor space abounds on the lower level, with an enclosed courtyard, a spacious deck, a charcoal grill, and a hot tub under the stars. There is also a large-capacity washer/dryer. Guests with mobility challenges may find the stairs difficult to navigate**'

Amazing home!
We come to sea ranch often in the winter and this house was a gem. Beautiful windows, great layout, wonderful location! And the best part is we were able to bring our four legged friend to enjoy the fun.

Good House/Bad Management
Interesting house. Nice views, balconies, etc. Good hot-tub and the beds were comfy. Terrible, death trap pantry with unsecured safety devices that fall on guest’s heads. It is a nice house and I blame all the problems on VACASA, the management company. They are uncaring and lazy and will cost these owners money, by not securing re-renters.

Perfect
We had a great time here. Saw whales from the home, as well as lots of deer, turkeys, and rabbits. There were so many places to relax: the decks, hot tubs, comfortable chairs in front of windows with gorgeous views. This is by far our favorite home in Sea Ranch.
We had a lovely stay. Great location and access to trails and the beach. The house was clean and had all necessary amenities. The hottub didn't get above 99 and was in a closed off location. The outdoor area was expansive and lovely.

Great home, beautiful views
Lovely home with beautiful views. Kitchen was well stocked (particularly for a vacation home) and the beds were comfy. Kids LOVED having a room of their own with video games and we all enjoyed the great game closet. Easy walk/bike to the beach. Easy drive to Gualala for lunch -- make sure to check out the great independent bookstore there.
The whale watching every morning was amazing. We didn't expect the drive to take as long as it did from San Francisco, as we were unfamiliar with Highway 1. The property is gorgeous and everything the listing says it is. I don't recommend trying to drive the Highway 1 in the dark if getting there for there for the 1st time though!

Great time at the Octagon House in Sea Ranch
One of the best homes we have rented in Sea Ranch (of about 10 over the years). Excellent location, close to Shell Beach and the seal rookery. Great layout. Lots of new investment in the home. Relatively well appointed kitchen (fridge could use an update but other than that, great). Comfortable beds throughout. Nice hot tub. Strong recommend for a house that balances some recent updates with original old school Sea Ranch charm.
This is a very well equipped house - we love to cook whenever we come to Sea Ranch and this kitchen has a good selection of cooking implements. The beds are comfortable and the ocean view is spectacular.
There were a couple of maintenance issues - the bar in the shower upstairs has pulled out from the wall which is dangerous. Anything else was minor and to be expected in a rental.

Cozy and relaxing
We had wonderful stay at this lovely home. You can tell that this home means a lot to the owners. The wide open living space with big windows looking out on the pasture and ocean is so comfortable and relaxing. The home is equipped with everything you could need including an extensive list of items for cooking and extra blankets. We had plans to explore the area over our four days and opted to stay at home instead. We walked to the beach every morning and then would eventually linger back home for lunch and afternoon games, games that we would play from the 'closet of fun'. Truly delightful. Thank you for sharing you home with us.

Another wonderful stay
This is by far our favorite place at Sea Ranch (and we have stayed in many homes). There are lots of comfortable spots to relax, including several decks, a window seat large enough to really stretch out on, a fabulous hot tub under the stars, and super comfy beds (which is a big deal since everyone has their own preferences for mattresses). It was perfect for our dog as well, as there was a small, fenced in courtyard so he could do his business in the night without our having to put on the leash and go out into the cold with him. There was even a dog water and food station near the dining area so he could eat with the family. The location is great. About a 7 minute walk to the beach and close to a ton of trails, including our favorite- the Bluff trail. Fun board games were provided, which got everyone (even the teenager) off of their devices for a while. That being said, the WiFi was excellent. The kitchen had everything we needed also. In all, we have found our go-to home away from home at Sea Ranch.

everything was perfect
This property was clean, spacious, and beautiful. We had ample room to relax and enjoy our time together, while also having our own private spaces. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed for meal preparation, including a generous selection of utensils, cookware, and essentials. I especially appreciated the easy access to nearby trails and the private courtyard area where our dog could come and go freely from the house. The property also offered a variety of puzzles, games, and books, adding to our enjoyment. The mattresses were exceptionally comfortable, with a medium-firm feel and soft cotton sheets. The WIFI was super fast. The heater worked fine, and the wood-burning stoves provided extra warmth and coziness during the cold mornings. The hot tub was clean and a real highlight of our stay. The views were truly spectacular, and there were many indoor and outdoor areas to sit (or lie in an awesome window seat) to relax and soak in the beauty—beautiful sunsets over the Pacific Ocean. Overall, our stay was fantastic, and we loved every aspect of the property. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

Awesome Home with Lots of Amenities
We loved Seas the Day as a Vacasa rental. It was our first visit to Sea Ranch and the proximity to the beach, amenities in the house and sleeping options were definitely a major hit for this home. The kitchen is outfitted to the nines, with so many plates, cups, bowls, pots, pans, etc. I can't think of anything that this house lacked. They have a substantial collection of family-friendly board games (almost too much, the closet was bursting!) to entertain you, when you are not mesmerized by the view of the ocean from the nearly floor to ceiling windows. The artwork and decor are tasteful with homey touches. Lots of seating options so the kids could spread out and have their own reading nook. The two bunk beds were perfect for our purposes, with a Queen bed on the upper/main floor and King bed on the lower/first floor. The washer and dryer looked pretty new. There were plenty of towels for bathroom use and separate ones for pool/beach/hot tub use. The only downside is the lack of screen doors for the sliding glass doors (except in the Primary bedroom downstairs), as it got quite warm in the afternoon with the abundant light coming through the large windows facing West. We tried leaving the glass door open to allow the ocean breeze to flow through, but then, lots of flies/bugs came in, including a hummingbird! We had to work gingerly to help the hummingbird fly out, as it kept flying into the large windows thinking it could go outside that way. Overall, this is an excellent home and we would definitely return here again for our next Sea Ranch trip.
