The location is excellent and great for families. There is a park less than two blocks away with a playground and a free pool (not deeper than 3 feet so great for young children). It`s about a fifteen minute drive to Acadia National Park and the walk to Bar Harbor is excellent. A truly stunning and picturesque locale.

This unit was very clean and furnished very well. The staff responded incredibly quickly to questions we had. We loved the quiet street, and the close proximity to Acadia. It was wonderful to be able to walk downtown too. Highly recommended!
Great place to stay to enjoy town and national park
House was clean and comfortable for our family of four. Close to town and the park. The kitchen was fully equipped, except the only issue we had was there were no forks in silverware drawer, so we bought some plastic ones at the store. Not the biggest deal as we ate out most nights.

16B Norris Ave in Bar Harbor was a lovely clean town home with a nice size deck behind the unit. The location was 8 to 15 minutes walk to town, and was located on a quiet street. The kitchen came fully equiped from Keurig to lobster pot. Right across the street was an open square which was a welcome spot for our dog to romp around. Overall a really relaxing spot with all necessary amenities
We found the unit to be very clean and spacious. The location was convenient for our activities. Our only minor complaint was that there were no eating utensils in the kitchen other than a few spoons. Also, none of the three TVs in the unit had cable or Roku streaming although this was listed as an amenity.

Michael, we're happy that you enjoyed our home's location but are disheartened to read that you encountered issues that kept you from fully enjoying your stay. We apologize for the dishwashing/amenities not being stocked and for any items you found to be missing in the kitchen. Our local manager assured us that housekeeping has been addressed about the supplies and an inventory will be done in the kitchen to replace any missing items. We hope you will allow us the chance to provide you with a truly exceptional vacation experience in the future.

Our stay
Only FOUR spoons for cutlery. There was a box of plastic knives, forks and spoons in drawer and we know how great these are! Shower curtains stained wirh mildew. No bath mats for slippery tubs or grab bars. We were FOUR older renters. Barbeque utensils were dirty. Ice trays broken and ice maker didn't work. Needs to have A/C in second bedroom. The handles on the windows were broken (some of them) so you couldn't open. That room got hot! TV in that bedroom didn't work. Two positives- it was in a great location! Quiet neighborhood. The A/C worked great downstairs.

Great in-town location close to everything but removed enough for peace and quiet!
What a great stay we just had at Birch Cottage!
Excellent location just steps away from a really lovely playground and a kids wading pool, a 10 minute walk to the heart of downtown, and a really great spot for peaceful, lovely breaks throughout your vacation in Bar Harbor and Acadia. The unit was older but very clean and well maintained.
A few things to note:
The kitchen has the bare minimum. We had to purchase a can opener. If you plan on cooking a lot (which we did) know going in that you won't have a ton of tools to work with. I wish there were: measuring spoons, storage containers, can opener, whisk, etc.
There's a washer/dryer in the unit so pack light! We didn't end up using over half the clothing we brought.
There's AC in the master bedroom but not the front bedroom. We used a fan that was in the basement to push air from the back bedroom to the front bedroom. It worked pretty well but we were there while it was nice and cool and the windows did a lovely job.
Bring or rent bikes! We cruised all over town and there's a bike rack out back for storage.
The parking is super tight. It says 2 spaces, but it's really only one. But for Bar Harbor and a two-bedroom, that's pretty great!
There's an awesome trail, Compass Harbor about 1 mile away and a very quick bike ride. Check it out!
There's no real outdoor space except for a small deck with a table and four chairs. We spent time at the front entrance where there was a little patch of lawn. This was no big deal for us since we ended up at the playground most mornings and nights. The park is VERY close!

Birch Cottage Review
Honestly, this house is not worth the cost. When we arrived the house had a musty smell which remained throughout our stay. The kitchen was super dirty, the floor was not vacuumed or mopped. There were dirt stains on the floor. There were food splatterings in many spots on the walls along the counters. The door and doorway into the half bath between the kitchen and living room was filthy. We requested the cleaning service to come back to clean the kitchen, which they did. After the cleaning service left we noticed that small puddles of water kept appearing on the floor under and in front of the refrigerator. As quickly as you dried the spots, they would reappear. The water must have been coming from the refrigerator. Our food on the top shelf of the refrigerator (fruit and vegetables) froze - had to throw it all out! The electric in the master bedroom and bathroom was not working. As a result, the air conditioner on the top level was not able to be used initially causing the upstairs to be extremely hot. Had to request service to come to address the electrical issue. It was inconvenient to say the least to start the trip with two service calls on the first day. Should not have had to wait around for a cleaning service and electrician, not to mention having to replace food because of a bad refrigerator.
There were cobwebs throughout the house. The landing on the stairs had a cobweb stretching from the light fixture to the walls. It was evident that the walls and ceilings have not been dusted for cobwebs for sometime. The porch and deck areas were filthy, covered with cobwebs, bugs, and dirt.
Halfway through our stay, we arrived back one evening to find a HelloFresh package on the porch. We contacted Vacasa several times regarding the HelloFresh package to arrange for someone to pick it up. It took two days for someone to come, had to unpack the delivery, put it in refrigerator so the food wouldn't spoil, and then repackage it for pickup two days later. The listing stated that the living room TV was able to be be streamed - this was not the case. There was no cable and the TV was not a SmartTV. As a result, could not stream nor cast.
We are a family of four and were only provided four bath towels for the entire week. Had to take time to wash towels throughout the stay.
In a time of COVID, I would have expected that a house serviced by VACASA would have been cleaner and in better condition. Would not recommend staying in this house.
