Peaceful home with forest views & great yard - minutes to town
Enviably situated in the heart of the Midcoast, this serene home in the wooded outskirts of Wiscasset seems to bring the best of Maine to you. In this private, pastoral setting, you'll have a beautiful yard, gorgeous views of the trees, and fantastic access to nearby villages, harbors, beaches, and scenic drives.
This two-story woodland home sits less than three miles north of downtown Wiscasset, a 5 min walk away from the river with dock access and close to Red Eats. A picturesque town on the Sheepscot River with an assortment of cute shops, restaurants, and seafood shacks. It's a great place to relax and stay put but it's also perfect for exploring, with Boothbay Harbor (15 miles), Bath (15 miles), the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse (24 miles), Popham Beach (29 miles), Rockland (36 miles), and Camden (39 miles) all within easy striking distance.
The home's natural setting is beautiful in every season, but it's the long summer days you'll spend outside in the yard. Sip your first cup of coffee among the trees each morning and gather on the patio for afternoon barbecues on the gas grill.
The heart of the house is the lofty living room, where you can flip on the gas fireplace, unwind on the soft sectional, and marvel at the view of the forest through floor-to-ceiling windows. There's a well-equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a dining room for nightly dinners and board games, and a smart TV to stream your favorite movies. A private washer/dryer and complimentary WiFi are provided as well.

Amazing trip and amazing property! All rooms our group utilized had king beds and all were comfortable! The location is perfect. You’re close to Bar Harbor and you’re close to other things, but yet you also get the benefits of being secluded in the woods in Maine! We would stay at this property again for sure!
Loved all the king size bedsConveniently located to bus route2 sets of washers and dryersEasy access to Acadia with car or busCould use some blinds on bedrooms as sunrise is very early
Location and space were great. Even though other reviews mentioned no blinds/window coverings, it was more uncomfortable and weirder than we had anticipated. The upstairs did get pretty warm with no AC. We would stay here again because of fantastic location.

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the fantastic location and the spaciousness of the home. We appreciate your honesty about the window coverings and the temperature upstairs. Your comments are valuable and will be shared with our local team to help improve future guest experiences. Thanks again for choosing Vacasa, and we look forward to hosting you in the future.
This house had plenty of room for gathering together and enough space if you wanted some time to yourself. Beautiful setting.
House was clean, spacious. Having 4 king size beds and 3 full bathrooms was a major plus! Kitchen had everything we needed.
Like other reviews, window treatments at least on bathrooms and main floor bedroom would be a great addition, as well as some instructions for TV, audio and fireplace.
Overall a wonderful place and hoping to come back next year!

Nice spot
We appreciated its location away from the bustle of Bar Harbor but close to most everything MDI has to offer. Would appreciate window treatments and more seating in the living room. Couldn't figure out how to use DirectTV for anything live, and the TV is mounted so there's no place to plug in a Roku. Surprising that this beautiful place doesn't have air conditioning. Might stay again but not during the heat of summer.

Great Location - Lots of Space
We really enjoyed our stay at Sandy Dream. It was easy to find, had plenty of bedrooms & baths, a large well kept yard as well as privacy. After getting used to the somewhat crazy stairs we settled in well. We arrived in what we guess was a Maine heatwave. By adding some fans from Home Depot we were able to sleep comfortably. Positives: Location; The WiFi worked well; The kitchen was well equipped (we used it); The house was very clean. Negatives: Lack of seating in the main living area; No cushions for the outside furniture (We would have used the outside if there was adequate seating to match the size of the home); and NO window coverings made for much too early mornings. If you come here bring eye shades.

Huge house in the woods
This house is very spacious - lots of room to spread out. Big living, dining, and kitchen area. Every bedroom has plenty of windows with a nice view. It seems every room in the house has a TV. The grounds are beautiful with a big lawn all around and horseshoe pit, patio and outdoor seating. the house is surrounded by forest. No neighbors in sight. We did find it a bit odd that there is not one single window treatment. No curtains, shades, or shudders in the entire house, There are also no pictures on the walls. The main living space is a bit echoey. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much.

The Good, The Not so Good, The Bad
Lots of great things about this place.
The Good:
It is a fantastic space - great for several couples or a large family. So nice to have 3 full bathrooms for 3 of the bedrooms. And yes, there are 2 sets of washers/dryers. Comfortable LR furniture and beds.
It is located in a private, peaceful setting that easily accesses all areas on MDI.
The kitchen is very well equipped and the outdoor space is quite nice with the patios, horseshoe pit and outdoor grill.
There are many closets/storage spaces (except in one bedroom) and light switches are labeled which was helpful.
The TV has Netflix, Amazon prime, YouTube, etc.
The Not So Good:
No coffee maker 😞, just a Keurig
Used refillable Keurig pod and water still in the Keurig
Slow communication from Vacasa for questions
No curtains - ok downstairs but would be nice for bedrooms and bathrooms.
No house manual/ TV instructions.
The Bad
Fresh 4 inch size wet spot on couch on 3rd floor
Dirty tub with black hair on drain
Overall, the house was very clean (except that tub) and we would recommend this place and enjoy staying here again.

Thank you for such a thorough and helpful review. The listing does state the home has a Keurig and apologize if this was missed. We will remind housekeeping to clean out the used pods. The spot on the couch is a stain from wax that we are working on getting removed. We hope to host you again in the future!

Family getaway of 8
Four adults and four children stayed at this property. Location is about 17 minutes from downtown bar harbor. It's about 20-30 minutes to all the main Acadia attractions. Several lobster pounds within vicinity however not that great. Location is quiet. Surrounded by trees. There are horseshoes in backyard and a basket rim on driveway however they did not provide a basketball. The four bedrooms and 3 and 2 half baths were great for the group. High ceilings throughout however no curtains which is crazy and no AC. Very stuffy at night upstairs during august. Had to pump the fans. The no curtains makes you feel like you can be watched and it makes you get up early. Kinda weird. Open floor plan on first floor was great. Kitchen has plenty of appliance however oddly there was no salt. The sofas needed some updating as they smell. Beds were comfy with decent linens. Plenty of towels and extras with two sets of washers and dryers. There is a gas grill in the back but no fire pit.
Secluded property, surrounded by trees. Kitchen was well-stocked with “all the things”. Clean, very roomy, but seating for only 5 guests in the family room was not enough for our party of 8. Door code did not work so check-in process was not pleasant. Property Mgr promptly had us access a lockbox at rear of property for a single key after a 2nd code did not work. Stressed about that single key getting lost or left inside since we then would have been totally locked out. PM replied that someone local would come by to work on keypad. That never happened and PM did not offer reason why it didn’t. Online listing mentioned 6 TVs - we could only get one small TV in one of the bedrooms to work. This property did not offer an “instruction manual” that might have described how to get the TVs to work and any other information regarding check-out, etc. The TVs not working was not a big deal for our group, just would have been helpful to have instructions like most other properties have, especially when previous reviews have mentioned this! There are still no window coverings, and we bought a 12-cup coffee maker for the 7 coffee drinkers in our group. The property offered a Keurig which would not have been very efficient for our group. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here for its location/proximity to Acadia NP and Bar Harbor, its cleanliness, its roominess, its 4 king beds - just pointing out a few things that others considering this property should be aware of…
