Year Round Rental Overlooking Damariscotta River

Gabrielle and her family were perfect guests. They left the house in perfect condition and even started a load of laundry. We would recommend Gabrielle and her family to any rental.

Thanks, Lori. I am glad you had a comfortable stay, we enjoyed hosting you. I am sorry that there were no face cloths and that there was not enough toilet paper. Our cleaner normally leaves extra toilet paper in the bathroom closets, and her number is available in our guest book should future guests need to get in touch with her for more supplies. The face cloths should be on your bed when you arrive along with the towels . Do let our cleaner know if supplies are out.

In terms of the beds, just to clarify for future guests, the bed in the master bedroom, 1st floor, is certainly dated, but the mattress is brand new and is on the firm side - I suffer from a bad back. The beds and mattresses in the second floor are all from Ikea and are only a couple of years old - you can see them in the photographs.

Thank you for your review. In the past, guest have said that our beds our dated, so I appreciate the fact that you actually have identified what the problem is. In response to your review we have changed the three mattresses in the room - for children - with three beds, and have also updated the mattresses in the other two rooms. Hopefully, this is the last we will hear about the beds.

We enjoyed hosting Becca and family and would be happy to see them return. In terms of the kayaks, the river is a tidal river and there is usually a four hour window when you can easily kayak by dragging the kayaks into and out of the water off a grassy bank. However, this is not possible when the tide is low and while once in a while it's okay to use our neighbor's dock, we don't have a dock as we don't own land there but only have access to the riverfront. I do send the tidal times to guest prior to their arrival.

Thanks for your very thoughtful review. We appreciate the positive feedback and wanted to respond to some of the cons. I just want to say that the internet does NOT turn off at 12 AM. I wish you had called me or texted me with this fact, but the internet is 24/7. Possible that someone turned off a switch by mistake. Yes, the deck and yard is very buggy in the early evening - dusk period - but not during the day - we love sitting out with the awning open during breakfast and lunch. This has been a hot summer and yes it is difficult in the upstairs rooms when the temperature outside doesn't drop below 70 degrees at night (which is becoming more common). Maybe it is time to purchase an air conditioner for the upstairs rooms. We can't do anything about the water system, it comes from our well in the front yard and in these houses with their own septic systems, you have to be willing to run the washing machine and dishwasher once a day only. Even with kids, we never need to run them more than once. Yes, we definitely do not recommend that you walk or bike on the main road - it's far too busy and there are no sidewalks. I'm sorry about the construction vehicle, someone just bought the house downstairs and he is doing it up. We didn't know that he was going to be doing construction work on his property while there were renters in our house.
