About this property

Newly Renovated Waterfront House, Lake Damariscotta

Privacy abounds at this premier location on lake Damariscotta.

Not too campy, not too modern, just the right mix of charm with all new finishes! Our light-filled cottage sits directly on the lake for convenient water access and views of breathe taking western exposure sunsets. This is a uniquely private location on the most sought after section of the lake.

With two living areas and and a dining table that seats 8, the house is perfect for a family. All living spaces and bedrooms have been completely renovated with new furnishings, bedding, and decor. Enjoy new mattresses and premium sheets, along with blanket/quilt for summer and down comforters for winter. Fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to make family dinners. Three bedrooms have sweeping views of the lake, while the fourth has a partial lake view. One and a half newly remodeled bathrooms. The new full bathroom features a tub shower, pebble floors and a large vanity. A gas fireplace was recently installed in the vintage stone surround.

There are two large decks for lounging and a new swim platform and dock to launch a canoe or kayak. 2 canoes, 4 life jackets, and beach towels are available for your use. It's the perfect location for a swim or to cast a line. Additional boating options (Pontoon boat, kayaks, stand up paddle boards) are available to rent with delivery directly to the house! Enjoy stunning sunsets, listening to the loons, star gazing, or gathering around the smokeless fit pit at the end of the day.

Damariscotta Lake is located at the gateway to Mid-Coast Maine. Explore nearby Boothbay Harbor, Camden, Rockland and many small town gems, all within 30 minutes of the cottage. The towns of Damariscotta and Wiscasset are a 15 minute drive with charming restaurants and large grocery stores. Order ahead online at Hannafords in Damariscotta and pick up your groceries on the way to the house! Damariscotta Lake State Park, Jefferson Market and General Store, and the Jefferson Scoop are under a 5 minute drive.

For security purposes, the access road to the property is monitored by a security camera located on the garage facing the upper portion of the driveway.

Great family time
The house is beautiful and very comfortable for a family. We spent lots of time fishing, canoeing, and playing scrabble. Easy day trips to Camden and Rockland. Great place to enjoy nature.

**Review for Lakeside Retreat on Lake Damariscotta**
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ From the moment we arrived at this idyllic lakeside gem on Lake Damariscotta, it felt like we were stepping into a summer dream. The house itself boasts all the comforts of home, and yet, its setting transports you to a world of serene beauty and natural wonder. Our twin 13-year-old girls and lab made the most of the private dock. To our delight, they caught several fish right from it! There was no end to their excitement each time they felt a tug on their fishing line. The stillness of the lake in the early morning, punctuated only by their gleeful shouts when they caught something, will be a memory I cherish forever. When night fell, the stars put on a show unlike any other. We laid out on the dock, shut off all the lights in the house and star-gazing and identifying constellations. In those moments, the world felt both vast and incredibly intimate. The location of the house was not only perfect for lakeside activities but also for the day trips we embarked upon. The rugged beauty of Acadia took our breath away. Camden and Belfast, with their charming streets, delightful eateries, and unique shops, provided both exploration and relaxation. The visit to the Washburn Norlands Living History Center was an enlightening trip back in time, offering a fantastic educational experience for all of us. If you're searching for a place that offers tranquility, adventure, and authentic Maine charm, look no further than this Lakeside Retreat on Lake Damariscotta.

Charming lake cottage
An absolute delight… again (this was our second stay). Unbeatable location on top of the water with stunning sunset views. House is newly renovated, tastefully-decorated and well-appointed, canoes and all. Kristin is a lovely host, always quick to respond. Can’t wait for our next stay!

Why they chose this property

The Watch House at Darmariscotta is a classic Maine camp, updated for your comfort. The property boasts two houses (we only rent one) built in 1912 and 1930. This house sits at water's edge. Go to sleep at night with the sound of the water lapping at the shore. The sunsets are absolutely spectacular with colors lasting for over an hour.
