Our cozy & off-grid getaway is a unique glamping experience in a beautiful geodesic dome with a flower shaped skylight and gorgeous mountain views. The property has no running water or electricity. However, we do offer Wi-Fi and a solar charged power station for charging any devices. See our highlights below.

A few things to know about the property-

**We have a hilly driveway that is not paved. Our driveway is rutted and has gravel. An SUV or higher vehicle is preferable. I have a Nissan Rogue, and it can navigate the driveway. However, it is a concern as heavy rain and storms can effect our driveway. After you have booked, feel free to send questions.

**We are located in a rural area, and are about 25 minutes from the nearest grocery store, which is located in Chilhowie, VA. Therefore, you may want to stop at the Food City in Chilhowie (I-81- exit 35) or visit the many stores in Marion (several exits) to stock up on supplies before heading to the rental.

** Please print directions to the cottage, as cell service can be spotty in the mountains. Wifi use is avaliable for your own use

** The property does not have running water or electricity. A solar-powered charging station is provided for charging needs. A camping toilet is provided for your use.

** Since we are near the Appalachian Trail & Hungry Mother State Park- we do have a variety of nearby options avaliable for showering, This information will be in your on-site guest information.

A beautiful little place in one of Virginia’s high country valleys, the cabin is cozy and comfortable glamping. Excellent stargazing as advertised and not far from the Appalachian trail and Grayson Highlands depending on where you are traveling to. It is a bit remote and no cell service but the Wi-fi works well so it’s no problem.

The host was great and the listing was exactly as described. It was a cozy little cabin! I did think the price was a little high for what it was. I did book last minute and only for one night.

Hello. We are originally from the Atlanta area. We moved to south-west Virginia in December of 2022. We love our small farm. We are pretty prolific DIYers as we built Acorn Cottage, which took about two years. My husband is a home brewer/ carpenter/ farmer/ low-key inventor. I am a homeschool mom/ mom taxi/ online reseller . We love the slower pace of life we have found here in Virginia, as well as our lovely neighbors and community. We did have some neighbors wonder why we had relocated from such a large city, but we were looking for something different. We also wanted land and mountains and were able to find both! Our home makes me take a deep breath and that is always a good thing! The snow has been a bit of an adjustment but we are learning.

Why they chose this property

I find this question funny because we intentionally chose not to live in a neighborhood, as in a subdivision or the like. We love the mountains and they calm me down and relax me in a way that the suburbs never could. Finding this property was a nine month search over several states and we couldn't resist the privacy and views. Finding a house with land can be challenging, which is why it took so long to find.

What makes this property unique

So many things make our property unique. We have very little light pollution, which makes for excellent star-gazing. Several of our 18 acres are fairly flat (ish), which is very unusual in this part of the world. Our small farm has a variety of animals that guests may hear including pigs, ducks (sounds like laughing btw) and chickens.
