About the host
Hosted by Beth Meininger
Pennsylvania is my home state, but hours east of the Laurel Highlands in Bucks County. I came here to whitewater kayak on the Lower Youghiogheny (Yough) River in 1987… and fell in love with the area. It became a second home for kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, cycling on the GAP Trail, and sightseeing. My highest values are Integrity, Nature, Contribution, Peace, and Connection. Knowing others are having the best time that they can makes my heart sing, so you may consider me a bit of a virtual concierge. Please ask for the Dining & Activities Guide! I try to keep it current, and it has been helpful to guests.
Why they chose this property
It’s a paradise area for outdoor enthusiasts, architects, and historians! We consider it the epicenter of our favorite universe… from Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, Ohiopyle State Park, to Deep Creek Lake, MD, Cooper’s Rock and Canaan Valley, WV. And all convenient to I-68 and I-40 for easy access when driving here after hours.
Addison pulled my heartstrings when I discovered the quiet one street historic village and learned about the historic National Road. What was a busy pathway to the west is now bypassed by Route 40 and has left a peaceful main street that is only used by those 180+/- people living in the village.
What makes this property unique
This 1948 brick ranch has been completely renovated with clean comfort and style in hopes of making Frank Lloyd Wright Fallingwater guests content to call it their home while visiting the Laurel Highlands.
The house is all on one floor and has a wheelchair friendly ramp to the in-law suite. The Rhody House offers clean tasteful comfort and high-quality appointments, including a 65-inch smart TV. Bring your passwords and enjoy the comfort!
You are also only a short walk to the best breakfast in the Laurel Highlands at the Hartzell House B&B, or dinner if you would like! A reservation is required at least 1-3 days prior but is worth doing at least once!!! We are so lucky to have them so close!
The other unique factor is that we will do our best to help you with planning to ensure your entire visit is 5-star, not just the house. You can call or text anytime for guidance or assistance.
