The sophisticated architecture and modern design blend harmoniously with nature. Nestled on a hillside, our healthy, eco-friendly holiday home blends discreetly into the surrounding hilly landscape of rocks and beech forests. The nature-inspired exterior design—featuring native trees and shrubs, an orchard meadow, and Jura limestone—reflects the typical landscape of the Franconian Switzerland Nature Park and underscores our overall ecological concept.

At our REFUGIUM, you can enjoy a relaxing holiday while also contributing to sustainability. Modelled on nature, our ORGANIC PASSIVE HOUSE was built using a consistent selection of renewable, health- and environmentally-friendly building materials. Nearly energy-self-sufficient operation and the use of 100% green electricity provide the ideal conditions for our sustainable tourism, which focuses on sustainability and environmental awareness.

DISCOVER ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN ON VACATION
The architecture of the elongated building with its striking gable roof is based on the topography and traditional forms and materials of the local environment. These have been architecturally reinterpreted using modern techniques. As a result, the roof and façade appear as a monolithic structure, completely smooth and as if cast from a single mould. The dark shingles respectfully echo the regional building tradition of using slate in Upper Franconia.

EXCLUSIVE DESIGN IN OUR BIO.DESIGN.VACATION HOME
The architecture’s clean lines, with a minimalist selection of materials and colours, transition seamlessly into the interior design of the exclusive design apartments. Each of the 45 m² barrier-free holiday apartments is integrated into the ground floor. As an extension of the building, the slope was terraced with large Jura limestone blocks to allow for large floor-to-ceiling windows on the southwest side with ground-level access to the spacious terrace area in front.

The architectural language is minimalist, focusing on the essentials with a restrained selection of materials and colours. Guided by principles of sustainability and energy efficiency, we rely entirely on renewable energy for our building systems. ECOLOGICAL CONSTRUCTION IN HARMONY WITH NATURE
In our energy-efficient BIO-PASSIVHAUS, the consistent use of renewable, health- and environmentally-friendly building materials was a top priority. For the structure and interior, we used wood—a renewable raw material sourced from sustainable forestry. Active and passive solar systems, highly energy-efficient appliances and lighting, sustainable drainage technology with a rainwater cistern, and nature-inspired exterior design round out the overall ecological concept.

LIVING IN A BIO-PASSIVE HOUSE
Visit our BIO-PASSIVE HOUSE in Bavaria—which is particularly well-suited for people with allergies—and experience its unique, cosy living comfort for yourself. A ventilation system with passive heat recovery ensures a constant supply of fresh and hygienically clean air. Our central vacuum system completely removes house dust and pollen from the indoor air without stirring up dust particles. The pure, eco-friendly lime plaster, painted with organic mineral paint, regulates humidity and further ensures an optimal, healthy indoor climate.

A HEALTHY, ELECTROMAGNETIC POLLUTION-FREE VACATION
The health and well-being of our guests are very important to us—and that naturally includes a restful night’s sleep. Many hotels offer Wi-Fi, but we have made a conscious decision not to provide it so that you can enjoy a holiday free from electromagnetic pollution. In addition, our healthy, smoke-free apartments feature shielded cables and a power disconnection system to protect against electromagnetic pollution. Furthermore, all metal components have been grounded, and a location free of geopathic stress fields has been selected to ensure a healthy sleeping environment for you.
