Great location - great property

We loved being out away from towns but not too far to travel into Homer or take small drives to see wildlife near our location. Very comfortable and unique place to stay!

Such a lovely cabin. Had everything you'd need to make yourself right at home, even a few box fans tucked away for those of us from the lower lower-48!

Lovely property

We love coming to Homer for an annual family trip each year and this spot did not disappoint. The upstairs area is a large space with 5 beds all in one open bunk area with one bathroom. The house was clean, well stoked, and perfect for what we needed for a weekend fishing trip.

Loved the quaint cabin with lots of moose and wildlife. Wonderful spot to put a cabin. Close to everything. Cabin was spacious and had everything you needed. My family of five had plenty of room. Enjoyed it tremendously. We will return. If you are in the area you need to check out Bear Paw Adventures!!

Fantastic cabin, perfect headquarters for stay on the Kenai Peninsula.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 6-night stay at the cabin, and can't say enough how great it was. The cabin was very comfortable, with a great layout, really nice kitchen, and nice furniture. The kitchen was especially nice, and had everything you could possibly need to make your own meals. Anchor Point was a nice location from which to enjoy the Kenai Peninsula. It's a nice community, much nicer than staying with the mass of people in Soldotna/Kenai. It was convenient for us for halibut fishing out of Anchor Point, and just 15-miles North of Homer. Plus, the owner was spot-on, quick to respond to any questions, cabin in great shape upon arrival. Plus, he even went to the extra effort of shipping to us an item that was left behind.

Spacious & relaxing with plenty of amenities

This was our first visit to Alaska and we stayed at the Bear Paw cabins for the second half of our journey through southern Alaska. Our cabin was clean, spacious & relaxing and had plenty of amenities. We didn't use most of the cabin amenities (TV, stove, BBQ, etc.) but it was nice to have them in case we wanted to use them. It was in a very nice location as it felt secluded and surrounded by nature but just minutes from the main road and minutes from several towns and places to see in both directions. There was a big binder with instructions on how to use everything, plus information and several magazines marked with places to see and things to do in the area. We enjoyed sitting on the large front deck and enjoying the sunsets and watching the birds and nature. We would definitely stay there again.

Two words.....Absolutely Outstanding!

Everything about our stay here was outstanding. We felt we had the seclusion and privacy we were looking for, yet we were not far away from everything we wanted to see. The cabin was even better than we expected, and we expected a lot. It is very well furnished and everything....furniture and appliances...look new. The cabin is very well kept, and expertly designed and built by John Ogle. John is a master craftsman he went to great lengths to make this cabin an incredible work of art. And John couldn't have been nicer as our host. He is a fascinating person with many talents and we greatly enjoyed meeting and talking with him. He is definitely a 5-Star host, and he gave us such great tips about exploring the area. We love wildlife and it was such a treat to have two moose wander all around our cabin and one even laid down and slept right in our front yard! Without any hesitation I give this cabin and host FIVE STARS. We had a wonderful vacation, and we THANK YOU, John.

John has lived in Alaska since 1984, has operated both commercial and sports fishing services, has extensive experience in the Alaska outdoors, and is a great Alaska adventures resource for guests. Reservations for Bear Paw adventure are managed by John, SR from the Bear Paw Adventure reservation office in Texas. In addition to operating Bear Paw Adventure, the family has interests & hobbies that include hunting & fishing, camping, hiking, boating, wildlife viewing, birding, gardening, log work (both log building construction and log furniture making), photography, geology, the environment, hunting for gold, snowmobiling, traveling Alaska, art, collecting (coins, rocks, stamps, fossils, etc), Alaska Native culture, and just about anything else associated with the outdoors or Alaska. Bear Paw Adventure engages in environmentally conscious cleaning practices and is a member of Adventure Green Alaska.

Why they chose this property

Bear Paw Adventure’s unique log buildings are situated on 14+ acres of an old homestead site. This use of the property is the first since the homestead days. We have attempted to keep the site, to the extent practical, as we found it. Evidence of the homestead activities can still be seen on the land. The slope of the land protects the property, to some extent, from the brisk winds off Cook Inlet. It is a nearly wild site with lots of spruce trees, alders and wildflower and a great place to watch for moose, eagles, ravens and other wildlife.

What makes this property unique

The 14+ acre property offers are a great sample of real rural Alaska and the full-scribed log buildings with their Alaskan decor provide interesting and comfortable one-of-a-kind lodging. The busy tourism centers in nearby communities are within easy reach so that guests can enjoy those activities and then retreat their own private Alaska at Bear Paw Adventure. For those who come to Alaska to enjoy nature, this is the place to stay.
Bear Paw Adventure offers uniquely Alaskan, first class lodging, located right on top of Alaska’s best fishing, exciting adventures and fantastic scenery.
This 14+ acre homestead property is near historic Anchor Point, Gateway to Kachemak Bay, on the west side of the Kenai Peninsula – a 4-1/2 hour drive from Anchorage.
The busy tourist centers of Kenai and Homer are minutes away for you to enjoy and then return to this quiet Alaskan environment. Moose, eagles, and ravens are frequently seen among the spruce trees, alders and wildflowers on this homestead that has been kept as wild and natural as possible.
