About this property
Large, Uptown, Apartment on Tree-Lined Avenue. Close to Shopping and Eating.
Beautiful, spacious 2 bedroom apartment in quiet, Uptown neighborhood. Close to everything you want to do. 5 blocks from St Charles Ave streetcar! Nestled between St Charles Ave (streetcar) and bustling Freret Street for walking access to coffee shops, restaurants, entertainment, shopping, hospitals.
Join us for the holidays, Mardi Gras (ON the MG Day parade route!), Essence, Jazz Fest, or any of the many other NOLA festivals throughout the year (French Quarter, Freret St).
This property was renovated in June 2018 with new, sleek, clean concrete floors with a mirror finish and accented with beautiful, new area rugs. Lush curtains sweep the floors in the bedrooms, adding to the luxury and uncluttered feel. Make yourself at home!
A car isn't really necessary for your visit in NOLA if you are just touring around. We are in such a central area that an Uber or Lyft are often close. We are 5 blocks from the streetcar, which takes you all the way downtown to Canal Street/French Quarter and all the way Uptown to Carrollton. You can see the beautiful St Charles Ave mansions without having to pay attention to the road! We are 1/2 block from a bus stop. There is ample and free parking on the street, unlike downtown.
This apartment sleeps no more than 4 adults comfortably. 6 people are listed to allow for children. Please do not book for more than 4 adults.

The place is super convenient yet perfectly quiet. We loved how dark the rooms got, how warm our showers were. We had plenty of space to move in the common rooms and in the fridge to keep our leftovers. I hope to come back to New Orleans soon and when I do hopefully I will be staying here.
This was an amazing experience. The hosts were so kind and gracious. The apartment is quite large with a wonderful location. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. A great place to stay for our family of four!
My family had a wonderful week staying in this charming Uptown basement apartment. Conveniently located in between Freret and St. Charles, there are a ton of great food options just a short walk away. There is also a streetcar stop at Napolean and St. Charles that runs between the Uptown/Carrollton area and downtown, which is just a short walk to the French Quarter. The apartment itself served as the perfect home base for a family traveling with small children. There is a playground at the the end of the block, and the neighborhood itself is quiet while still close to lots of amenities. We very much enjoyed having a full kitchen and laundry area since we stayed for an entire week. The apartment is thoughtfully furnished with very comfortable sleeping arrangements, a good sized dining area, and multiple air conditioning units capable of standing up to the heat and humidity of New Orleans. We highly reccomend staying with Monika and Karl! They were gracious and communicative and have a lovely home.
We have family in the immediate area so location was key for us. Space was immaculate, Monika was very accommodating and allowed early check-in and she checked to make sure we had everything we needed. This is our 2nd stay here
It was spacious, quiet, pleasant, close to everything I needed. The hosts are a wonderful couple excited to have guest and available if needed. I definitely would stay there again.
I did not expect a basement apartment - totally my mistake - I thought we were getting the main floor with the front porch access. I also thought we would be able to park in the driveway. Street parking is plentiful, but that is not what I wanted. The owners were great - helpful suggestions, timely, easy check in process. The space itself was comfortable and the linens were nice.
Our daughter was in a play at Tulane so we wanted to stay nearby. There are a lot of restaurants within walking distance. The hosts were very friendly and attentive to our requests. Will definitely stay here again
The property was true to the pictures and even roomier than we expected. Great location within walking distance of many places to eat! Hosts were so nice and communicative. Would stay again!
Everything was great, host is awesome and knows the area very well. Was in town for Tulane Parents weekend and it’s walkable to campus, close to Freret street has great restaurants, a local grocery and coffee shops. We’ll definitely come back!
Our family of five had a wonderful stay! The apartment was clean and organized. The hosts communicated well and even greeted us with a king cake for our stay during Mardi Gras! The unit was perfect for our family and we will absolutely rent again every time we return to New Orleans!
the location was fine and the hosts were as well, but i have a couple criticisms. the kitchen was rather small and shared space with the washer and dryer (which provided the only counter space). however, if you don't plan on much cooking, it's probably ok.also, there is only one entrance and exit, which could prevent a safety issue. that leads to another cosmetic issue: none of the windows open. i realize there can be a security issue since it's a ground level apartment, but the weather was beautiful when i was there, and an open window would have been nice -maybe some limited bars on windows that open?still, it's worth a look
Easy check in even though we knew we would be arriving around midnight. Great communication with the host making sure we had everything needed and passing on fabulous eating recommendations. The place is as listed. Comfortable and clean. We really only used the bedroom and bathroom because there were too many amazing places to eat nearby. We have not stayed in this neighborhood before and we love it. We will be back!
This is a basement apt. which was not made clear in the listing. However, it was very clean and spacious and the hosts were very accommodating, responding very quickly to our requests. My husband and I and our adult son shared the apt.
My friend and I stayed here for our first trip to Nola. The location was 10/10. We felt very safe and many people were walking their dogs or had kids at the playground. The houses and trees were beautiful on our 7 minute walk to the street cars. They take you right down town and have countless stops on the way to restaurants, shopping, and drinks. Extremely convenient and affordable! The host met us on arrival and showed us around the property. She was so sweet and offered us information on places to go. There was also a visitors book we read through on places to visit. We both agreed we’d absolutely stay there again.

Wonderful uptown apartment!
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the uptown apartment in New Orleans. That housing is very clean and spacious with nice fixtures. We had more than enough space to relax after a long day in the city. The owners were very available and extremely helpful. The only downside to this apartment is there's a lot of construction outside the front door working on the street. The construction crew shows up early and that made it a little hard to sleep in in the morning's.

Rebecca, thanks so much for your positive review and kind words. We are happy that you enjoyed our spacious, clean unit. Construction has been happening in front of our home for the past three years. We have been lucky that it only happens during the week and that we have been spared on Saturdays and Sundays. While we are happy for and proud of the progress New Orleans is making with the Uptown avenues, we look forward to our new neutral ground (median) and our new walking trail. Construction near us is expected to be wrapped up at the end of February. We hope that you all will join us again shortly thereafter and see the city's improvements to one if its grandest corridors.
We stayed in Monika and Karl's bottom floor apartment for a week while we went out and explored various places in and around New Orleans. The property was spotless clean when we arrived, and access instructions were clear and easy to follow. Monika was an attentive host without ever being intrusive. The apartment included all basic needs - fully made up beds, towels, some plates, and utensils. The neighborhood along Napoleon within a few blocks north an south of the rental is nice, but you do need to be conscious of location if you venture off into other areas (it is in a city after all). Street parking was easy; we were always able to park in the spot right in front of the property, and traffic was not an issue for getting in and out.
As long as you come in with the right expectations you'll enjoy the stay. We absolutely love the uptown location and the street. It is definitely not a luxury stay, you are in an old basement, but it's been freshly renovated and everything is clean. The kind of place you come to sleep and spend the rest of your time out in the city and it's perfectly fine.We did have an issue with the air conditioning, it couldn't keep up, so by the end of the day when we were going to sleep it was hotter than was comfortable. By the next morning it had caught back up. They said they were having an AC guy come look at it right after we left so hopefully the issue has been resolved.

If you get to respond you should post this:
James,
We’re disappointed to hear that you weren’t completely satisfied with your stay. The AC unit was serviced immediately after your Sunday morning departure and is functioning perfectly. The unit is exactly as depicted in our pictures and has undergone a beautiful renovation. As you can see from our reviews, your feedback is significantly different from that of our many other satisfied guests who do come with appropriate expectations of historic homes.
About the host
Hosted by Monika and Karl
We both grew up in this neighborhood. We love this house and our neighbors, and it shows. :) We LOVE New Orleans and all things Mardi Gras! We bought a home (with this apartment attached) on the Mardi Gras Day parade route for this expressed purpose. The parades literally happen at the end of the driveway! Luckily, that's not all there is to do in New Orleans. NOLA is full of culture, festivals, architecture and food, glorious FOOD!
Why they chose this property
This property is close to everything you want to do. It's close enough to the Quarter for easy access (10 minute car ride), but without the constant barrage of partying. We are walking distance to Audubon Park, Tulane and Loyola, Freret St (with bars, restaurants, breakfast, coffee, etc.), St Charles Ave. streetcar... If you are looking for a real, walkable, neighborhood experience, this is the place for you.
What makes this property unique
Most uniquely, this property is ON the Mardi Gras Day parade route and 5 blocks from most other parades of the season. No port-o-potties for you! No long food lines or driving to and from a parade! Just stay here and relax. Book your Mardi Gras time early, spots do not last. Otherwise, we take great pride in the cleanliness of our home and are continuously updating it. Check out our new, mirror-finished grey concrete floors! You'll find modern amenities like USB ports, electronic keypad entry, a work station, neighborhood walkability, etc.
