Wonderful Anniversary Trip

This property is an amazing spot for the perfect getaway with your person! The place was extremely clean and well-kept and Janis was very responsive! It’s the perfect distance from the beach and sound and everything Duck has to offer- we will definitely be coming back!

Great experience! The retreat was very clean and easy to access. Only thing to be mindful of is that there isn’t an oven, however, the place is pack with tons of amenities to make up for it.

Couples Retreat is a wonderful apartment. It is extremely clean, comfortable, and nicely equipped. Off-street parking is nice. We also enjoyed having cocktails in the backyard gazebo before heading out for dinner. The location is extremely convenient to the shops in Duck, NC. I would definitely go back.

Perfect Couple’s Stay!

We loved staying at this Couple’s Retreat. Everything was clean and made this trip a breeze. Having the beach and sound right at your fingertips, as well as a hot tub and pool really set this location apart. We will definitely be back!

It was the most peaceful and private getaway. Janis was quick to respond to emails. The check in and out was easy and stress free. It was so clean and had what we needed. The hot tub was amazing and the neighborhood was very quiet. We will be coming back again for sure!

Perfect for a weekend getaway. Very clean, nice amenities, and short walk to the beach. A bit too far to walk to town but a very short drive. I recommend for couples looking for a relaxing trip to obx, you will not be disappointed!

The Apartment is beautiful. It is on the side of the Owners house. The pictures shown are accurate. However, I found the location information a little misleading. The beach is across the main street and about another 1/4-1/2 mile. If you are carrying stuff (chairs, umbrella, cooler), you have to drive to the beach. The restaurants, shops, etc. are a mile away. There is a sidewalk that you can walk on into Town and it was not too bad. The pool shown in the photo is NOT the pool that was available It was old and the odor when you came in was horrible. Lounge chairs were not easy to come by. We only stayed for a few minutes then left.

Great couples vacation in Duck!

The place was perfect for a couple looking for a getaway. The apartment was well equipped and great outdoor space for relaxing. The pool and tennis court access was great. The beach is just across the street. The town is a 20min walk and a great way to start your day to get a morning coffee. Highly recommend this place!

Private, Charming and Conveniently located

The couple’s retreat is a charming getaway. Immaculately clean. Private outdoor shower, grill, hot tub and gazebo. Beach chairs, umbrella and bikes provided. We loved being within walking and biking distance from the beach, Currituck Sound and Duck! We highly recommend staying here!!!

This is not meant to share with anyone but the owner. Changing the date was disappointing..

Again for the owner- We had to change our vacation plans when we were in route. I think it would have been appropriate to give a reduced rate because in incurred additional expenses.

We LOVED it

We found this place on VRBO and rented it for 3 nights for our youngest son's first trip to the ocean. It was the nicest, cleanest place we've ever stayed in. It looked EXACTLY like the pictures in the listing. It is an apartment in the back of the owner's beautiful beach home but was so private we didn't know they were there. Unless we needed something, and they were very friendly and accommodating. It was the perfect location - just a few minutes walk to the sound side or the ocean side of the island. We would most definitely go back and rent the same place as the rental AND the owners were fantastic. SO glad we picked this one. You know how you see pictures of something online and it looks fabulous but when you get there, you're disappointed? When we saw it in person we were taken aback by how beautiful it was. The lovely pictures on line don't do it justice. We couldn't believe how nice it was, especially considering it was reasonably priced and we could afford it. FIVE STARS FOR EVERYTHING!

Couples Retreat

My husband and I had a wonderful experience for our 45 th wedding anniversary. The place was emasculate and so well equipped. We really enjoyed the beach equipment- chairs, umbrella, beach bag, towels and boogie board. Everything you need for a perfect beach day. The bikes were great and the rental is so close to Duck. Also the sound access was great to view sunsets. We loved the private outdoor space with hotub, which was beautiful and clean, covered area, counter, beautiful furniture, grill. We couldn’t of asked for anything more.

Perfect for our anniversary trip

This place lives up to its reviews! Beautifully decorated, gorgeous outdoor patio and private hot tub. There is also beach access and it’s close to some great dining and shops in Duck. Some reviews mentioned the mattress was uncomfortable but we found it to be just fine. We hope to be back next year.

Clean, quiet, and good location, but exceptionally uncomfortable mattress

Overall, we were pleased with the property except for the mattress. The mattress is extremely soft, so much so that when you get into the bed, you sink down six inches or more, almost all the way to the bed frame. Sleeping was very uncomfortable, especially because we're 32 weeks pregnant. Reading the guest book, many other couples have commented that the mattress needs to be replaced. If the mattress were better, we would have given this place 5 stars. It was exceptionally clean, the shower was excellent. There's also an outdoor shower to rinse off after being at the beach. The property is located midway between the sound side and ocean side. The hot tub and outdoor area are not shared with anyone else, which was a nice surprise, although we did not use the hot tub. There's no oven or stove, but there is a two burner hot plate, toaster oven, toaster, blender, etc. One amenity we would have appreciated is a welcome binder with recommendations for places to eat (only a few places do take-out food, and hardly any offer online ordering -- something to consider during the pandemic), things to do, etc. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and we'd consider coming back but only if the mattress is replaced.
