Grosshaus by Interhome
size of property: 380m². Vacation in architectural monuments combines heritage conservation and tourism. Historically valuable buildings are taken over, gently renovated and rented out as holiday flats. The model provides a double benefit: the monuments are given a new future and the holiday guests experience a stay in an exceptional building. The idea is being realised by the foundation Vacation in architectural monuments (FiB), which was founded in 2005 by the Swiss Heritage Society.
Public transport: SBB train from Ziegelbrücke to Schwanden/Glarus Süd, change there and take the bus to Elm village (24 minutes), 3 minutes on foot to the Grosshaus.
By car: The village of Elm lies in the Sernftal valley. Access to the Sernftal is only possible via Schwanden/Glarus Süd. From the motorway A3 Zurich-Sargans, exit Niederurnen, it is approx. 30km on a steadily ascending road to Elm.
Parking: In the town hall car park 50m from the house (free of charge). For loading/unloading you can drive directly to the house and park there temporarily.
Bicycles: Can be parked in the barn.
Number of persons 4-6: The house offers space for four to six guests. (1 double room, 1 double room with additional sofa bed). Baby cot on request. The floors are made of wood and stone, so we recommend good slippers.
Season: All year round
Short holidays: None, except Easter, Ascension and Whitsun.
Garden: Garden with seating area and furniture. Heating: Central heating (heat pump), heat distribution via radiators in all rooms.
Stove / fireplace: Stove and a wood-burning cooker in the kitchen.
WLAN: Is available. Reception is not good in all rooms.
