About this property

240' Private Beachfront @Kent Island Love Point - Great for Large Groups

Spacious, comfortable vacation home located on Love Point, the northern tip of Kent Island, in the heart of the upper Chesapeake Bay. This beachfront property is adjacent to the former grounds of the historic Love Point Hotel grand resort, where well-to-do families once took steamboats from Baltimore piers to vacation in style (now Love Point State Park). On the coveted northeastern side of Kent Island, you have views of pleasure craft, fishing vessels, and an array of wildlife (including dolphins on occasion) – no commercial ship traffic/anchorage in view from here.

The Home: Large master suite w/private Jacuzzi and shower. Five bedrooms including a large dorm. One bedroom requires no stairs. Fully-equipped gourmet kitchen, a chef’s delight! Dining room, sun room, and two screened sun porches, all with beautiful views. Gorgeous living room with fireplace with heat exchange/blower. Ask about expansion options for up to 40 people.

The Property: The grounds are nearly four acres: high ground around the house & courtyard, 1/2 acre tidal pond and wetlands toward the shore, and 240 feet of sandy beachfront. Offshore jetties create a protected lagoon by the beach, providing safety for kids swimming and those learning to kayak or paddle board. There is outstanding bird watching from the sun room and from the northeast sun porch, 40 yards from the half-acre tidal pond on the grounds. The property is directly across the water from Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge. Bird watching is peak over morning coffee or at dusk, depending on the species. Spectacular sunrises over the water. Plenty of space to play and wander. Catch fish and crabs right from the property, and prepare a feast for the group.

The Location & Area: Ten minutes to the seafood restaurants, bars, marinas, and many other activities of Kent Narrows. It is right across the Bay Bridge from Annapolis and 40 miles to St. Michaels. Close to DC and Baltimore, it is only 60 miles from Springfield, VA. Coming across from the Western Shore, you will part with any shore traffic immediately, taking the first exit after the Bay Bridge. It seems like the other side of the world, though, once you arrive on the Island and you immediately feel your blood pressure drop.

As isolated as Love Point is, itself, there is a wide range of activities close by, especially water and nature activities. Or shop at nearby outlets. See “ATTRACTIONS”, “LEISURE & ACTIVITIES”, and “SPORTS & ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES” sections for detail.

Special Notes: Six kayaks and six paddle boards provided, with paddles and life jackets. Large grass field for group sporting activities or RV/boat/trailer parking (100’ x 50’). Four wedding venues on island.

Linens, towels, beach towels, basic toiletries provided. See the AMENITIES sections for many more details on this gem, and hints on the local area.

VRBO/Homeaway Story: Rented repeatedly from VRBO/Homeaway, arranging extended family & friend get-togethers at the shore, in the mountains, etc. Everyone kept asking me to go back to this property each year. Fell in love with it and bought it.

Perfect for family vacations and friend groups for Annapolis Boat Shows, U.S. Naval Academy Graduation, Ring Dance.

We thouroughly enjoyed our week at Love Point. The house is very well appointed, clean, and comfortable. There was plenty of space for our family vacation of 14 people. Even with a large group there are lots of places in the house to find quiet time alone if you desire. The beach front is a great place to have morning coffee, a swim, or go paddleboarding and kyaking. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals at the house, and there is a second refrigerator and freezer if you need to keep food fresh for a large group. Our host Hal was always available and attentive. We would highly recommend this house and would stay here again.

Easy Relaxing Stay

We rented this property for our annual work retreat. It was remote enough to be peaceful (and on the water!) and close enough to restaurants and groceries to keep us stocked. There was plenty of space and the kitchen was well stocked. Thank you!

Great for group of families

We rented Hal's home for our annual "Friendsgiving" with several families. The kitchen had plenty of space and was well appointed with cooking gear to prepare a big meal. The kids loved running around outside, exploring the beach area and having s'mores around the fire pit. Hal is a great host - very responsive and helpful. Hope to come back next year!

Great location for group stay

I stayed here with a group of 5 coworkers for a team-building week. The house was a great location as it had lots of spaces for us to spread out when needed, as well as come together for meals and discussions. It's a historic home with funky decor - not modern but very comfortable and has everything you need. The short walk to the private beach is unbeatable. Would definitely come back!

Wedding celebration

Since the day I booked the house, Mr. Hall was so helpful; he provided all the details we talked on the phone. I explained for him that we will be celebrating my wedding with my family. He even let us visit the house before the wedding day. He was really nice and helpful; he had all the details for the house. He kept the communication till the minute we left the property. The house is amazing; the view, the spaces, the energy of the house is amazing; it's filled with love and happiness. We will definitely come back for our 1-year anniversary.

Family friendly waterfront getaway

We had a wonderful stay at Love Point Idyll. The large house had everything we needed for a long weekend with multiple families and our dogs! The private beach is a short walk from the house and shallow enough for young kids to enjoy and parents to relax. The kayaks & paddle boards were a hit with everyone. This quiet neighborhood is a hidden gem; close to amenities but tucked away with great views of the bay. Hal was also extremely responsive & informative throughout the booking process and a great host overall. Definitely would return again!

Great place for a family reunion

The property was great for the kids and to be able to spread out. The house was fully stocked and it was really nice to not have to bring towels, sheets, papertowels, toilet paper etc. Hal was very communicative and responded promptly to any questions we had. There were some jellyfish in the river the week we were there, but other than that we really enjoyed our stay.

Whaat a nice property this is. A group of 10 of us stayed at the house & it was perfect, more beds than we needed actually. House was clean, tons on towels. We forgot coffee but owner supplies Keurig k-cups & to go cups. This was a nice touch. Firepit is great, screened in porch was awesome. We cooked a lot & kitchen had everything we needed. Owner was great & we can't wait to do it again next year.

FABULOUS Family-Vacation Location

Our multi-generational family had a wonderful week at Love Point Idyll. A quiet, world-away oasis. We spent the days outdoors, with lots of beach time on the lagoon. SO safe for the kids, and the older ones (ages 9,11, 13) were able to comfortably kayak, paddleboard and play in the water, catching little crabs. AWESOME bird watching (eagles and osprey!). Only 10 minutes away from grocery stores, coffee trucks, gas stations, and crab shacks. Spacious interior with well-equipped kitchen. Hal was great, responding to questions within a few minutes. Highly recommend!

Excellent getaway

The place was exactly as described and the pictures were accurate. It could be perfect for a family reunion, but also cozy enough for a family of 4. The house has everything you need, the kitchen is well stocked with better quality equipment than you'd find in most rentals, and the owner goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need. We will definitely be back. Thanks!

Spacious house with your own private beach

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is well stocked with anything that you need. We came with our laptops to work at another location. Because the neighborhood is so quiet, working was easy. The property has a private sand beach was fun to walk to. The house is close to great seafood restaurants, parks and amazing sunset views. We plan on going again when the weather is warm so that we can enjoy the kayaks, the bicycles and a bonfire.

Live an hour away from the property, in the Virginia DC suburbs. I fell in love with the Chesapeake Bay at the age of ten, close to the very spot where this property is.

Why they chose this property

Rented the place five times for our extended family for long weekends, and fell in love with the place. Used to go to the shore, the mountains, etc., but the extended family kept asking to come back to "the Love Point House".

Four acres of waterfront property on an island in the Chesapeake? It is a dream come true.

What makes this property unique

For Washington DC, Baltimore, and Philadelphia area folks, it is so easy to get here. Yet once you drive four miles through farmland to the tip of the island and into this small community, it is suddenly like another world.
