A 5 bedroom mountain retreat, ideal for couples, and families.

House is beautiful five bedroom home, situated in five wooded acres in Clifftops, a gated community in Monteagle, Tennessee, five minutes from Sewanee and University of the South, Monteagle Sunday School Assembly, Dubose Conference Center; offers hiking, biking, swimming in community lake and pool, (pool during summer months), canoeing and sports galore.. pet friendly -- dogs only.
Home can sleep ten (12 with sofa bed with additional charge), has four full, and one half bathrooms, comfortable kitchen, lounge, formal dining room, family room, large grounds and walking trails on property.
Configuration of bedding: 3 king bedded rooms, 1 queen bedded room and one room with 2 twin beds.

Note: no rentals to persons under 21 permitted without parents or adult family members and primary renter must be over age of 25.
We have a two night minimum to allow guests to relax and enjoy our home.

Mom’s 80th Birthday Getaway

Weekend at the Caverns

We were in the area to see music at the Caverns nearby and this home was the perfect spot to be. It was nice and secluded and extremely welcoming. We had a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

Peaceful Private Getaway

We loved staying at Sue's very private and quiet house in the woods. Coming from the busy city life, this is exactly what we needed. We felt very safe and the house was very spacious and the beds were comfy. Sue was a great and very thoughtful host. We would love to come back and stay! Also go to the Mountain Goat to eat.

Pet friendly environment with with a fenced area dogs to roam. Felt secluded, but with easy access to lake and pool. Numerous hiking trails in the area with lots of deer. Very relaxing

Clifftops Moongalbah

Moongalbah met all of my expectations. The space accommodated our group 11 extremely well. The isolation of the property in the Clifftops provided excellent privacy as well as a great place for walks and observing wildlife. The kitchen was well stock, and all amenities satisfied our needs. It was a great place for our family to gather. I would highly recommend this property!

Fantastic family retreat

The house was perfect for our week-long family retreat with our two adult children and their families. six adults and 7 children ages 1-9. Sue was the perfect host. The house is roomy with multiple sitting areas including a great rear deck and a well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed access to Clifftops amenities including fishing and swimming in the lake, a great pool and hiking trails. As a bonus the house is decorated with fascinating memorabilia from our host's world travels!

Weekend in Monteagle

Sue was a gracious hostess. She was nice to give us extra time on each end, had a nice basket of goodies to welcome us and allowed my daughter’s dog to stay with us. Excellent communication and helpful signs throughout the house. The house is in a nice secluded location backing up to some woods. It has a definite “lived in” feeling. If you’re the type of person who inspects every nook and cranny, this might not work for you. The kitchen had every imaginable pot, pan and cooking utensil. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The back yard was nice for the 3-year-old grandsons and the dog. The guys particularly enjoyed the backyard fire pit. The TV and Sirius XM system worked well. Nice dining room with some seriously bright lighting, but the numerous candles provided a good lighting solution. We had a good time. Jeff Gould

Moongalbah Shined

The rental process was very quick and easy. The owner was uber responsive and I could sense early on that our visit was going to be a success; and it was. From the owner’s personal touches (she left a Reserved Sign with my wife’s and my name on the master suite, she had written identification of each light switch, gift baskets and directions on how to operate various items like cable tv, electric awning, etc.) to the setting and family friendly layout of the home, Moongalbah Shines! Sue’s home was definitely designed with the purpose of making a family retreat where special memories can be created that will last a lifetime! With our daughter at the University of the South, only 3 miles away, we were able to enjoy time with her, attend her sport’s game and tour the campus with our guests, along with some campus socialization, and then be back to Moongalbah for a peaceful, secluded night’s rest. We definitely hope to stay here again! Thank you Sue for a marvelous, memory-filled long weekend!! -Kirk

Peaceful home in Clifftops

This family home is in the Clifftops subdivision in Monteagle. The setting is wooded with beautiful wooded backyard view. Quiet and tranquil. Five minute drive from front gate to home. Inside there is a master down, den/kitchen, laundry, half bath, dining, and living. The den seats five and the living room six. The dining table seats eight and there is a small kitchen table. The den seats five. The kitchen is well equipped with all things you could need to make any meal and there are plenty of dishes. Upstairs is another master, a hall bath, two hall bedrooms, and a bedroom over the garage with twin beds and an attached small bath. The house has a lot of personal items about; this is not one of those sleek rentals managed by a rental company. It is definitely lived in by the owners. The plus to that is that if you need something, you will find it. The hospitality provided by the owners is above and beyond. They provided a welcome basket, cleared shelves of the refrigerator, and communicated well. We chose this home because it is dog-friendly, and our dogs loved it, especially playing in the woods. (Sometimes dog-friendly rentals have pet smells, but not in this house. It is quite clean.) We enjoyed hiking the Perimeter Trail and Easter at All Saints. We ordered pizza from Octopi, which was very good. The rest of our meals we cooked in the house. If you like quality cotton sheets and nice down pillows, consider bringing your own.

This lovely house in Clifftops was exactly as advertised. We were in town to help our daughter move into her dorm at Sewanee. The host Sue was very responsive, but not intrusive. Would highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.

Weekend Get-a -way with friends

This was a great house in the woods for a weekend with friends with plenty of space for spending time together as a group and on our own. Although secluded , it was a short distance to hiking, restaurants and The Caverns. We all hope to come back again soon ! (The bedrooms and bathrooms were exactly as described. 5 bdms 4 1/2 baths accommodating up to 10 adults very comfortably.)

Our family Christmas time at Moongahla was so nice. This roomy home has all you need and more! It is welcoming and comfortable inside and out. The owner excels in communication from beginning to end. With 10 people, from 4 years old to 75, and a dog, it had space for all !

A great neighborhood

This house had plenty of space for our family. Everyone got their own bedroom and bathroom. Lots of good trails in the area and some interesting shops. Very private neighborhood so we felt secure and it was very quiet.

The house reflects a combination of my Australian heritage and a little of the south and the name 'Moongalbah' is an Australian Aboriginal word meaning 'a sitting and resting place' and I invite you and your guests to use the front porch rockers and do just that... enjoy, relax and breathe the fresh mountain air.

'Moongalbah' in Clifftops is a perfect retreat for guests attending events at the University of the South, whether it be key university weekends, weddings, reunions etc. This gated community allows privacy, and a perfect base to explore the Cumberland Plateau, hiking trails and so much more.
