About this property
Sunny, Spacious & Central: Top Hat
Experience the comfort and luxury of a hotel combined with the personal touches and charm of a private home. The Top Hat is the largest suite in our lovingly restored Hudson Milliner Boutique Guesthouse. Built in 1860, the building was once used as a milliner's hat shop, and we have preserved many of its original details such as solid mahogany stairwells, stunning pocket doors with etched glass, and gorgeous hardwood floors.
The suite features two bedrooms; the master bedroom has a queen-sized wrought iron bed and the smaller bedroom has a queen-sized loft bed. Both rooms have designated workspaces, reading nooks, and closets with hangers. The spacious private bathroom has been renovated to combine old-world charm with a luxurious walk-in shower. Oversized windows flood the rooms with sunshine and the 14-foot ceilings feature exposed original beams. A curated selection of locally sourced antique furniture and meticulously restored mid-century appliances meet modern conveniences such as central AC and heating, high-speed internet, blue-tooth speakers, a building-wide water filtration system, and access to washer/dryer. Special touches include bespoke fixtures made by reclaimed industrial materials, decorative floor tiles of our own design, and original artwork by us and our talented friends. Washer and dryer are available on a separate floor.
All guests have access to our beautiful covered greenhouse courtyard, a lovely space to enjoy your morning coffee, get work done, or indulge in a glass of wine. You can also use the BBQ to grill up a family dinner.
You won't need a car, as we're a 10-minute walk away from the train station. For guests who arrive by car, free street parking is available. If you have trouble finding a spot, we offer a private parking space for $30 per night. Guests will have sole access to their kitchen, bathroom and living area. Our guests' privacy is very important to us.
Hudson Milliner is centrally located on the 400 block of Warren Street in Hudson. You have a great selection of restaurants, incredible antique stores, coffee shops, local pubs, as well as live music venues within walking distance. A nature walk just north of Hudson in the reserve is just a bike- or car ride away. A little further away are our personal favorites Bash Bish Falls and Kaaterskill Falls. If you are interested in Skiing during the winter we are 40 minutes or less away from 3 different ski resorts!
Please make this place your home, treat it like your home. Absolutely no pets and no smoking please. We carefully renovated it to transport you back in time. If you would like to have an event - please let us know
The easiest way to get here is by car or by Amtrak train to the Hudson station, which is a 10-minute walk from the Hudson Milliner.

Great three night stay. Everything is walkable. Host is gracious and a great communicator. Great restaurants, coffee shops, bars and spa. All step away.
Really lovely place to stay! We felt very comfortable and looked after. Very communicative and supportive host. Centrally located with lots of nearby shops and restaurants. Would highly recommend.
Wonderful hosts and great location. Loved the artful and fabulous taste of artists who own and run the place. Truly a pleasure to meet and enjoy the stay with tons of beautiful authentic ideas at every angle!
Recommend it to whoever is into art culture and wants a great convenient stay.

My stay in the Top Hat apt at The Hudson Milliner was charming and amazing! The apt was clean, spacious and dog friendly. All the best of Hudson is right at your doorstep, highly recommend!
This place was amazing. We will definitely try and stay there any time we are up in Hudson. Charlotta and Shannon are sweethearts and will stay any time they will have us. Definitely recommend it.

Amazing location. Remarkable accommodations!
We stayed at the Milner for five nights for our daughter's wedding. The rooms are tastefully decorated, spacious and the bedding is among the most comfortable we've experienced, and THAT'S saying something because we travel a lot and we're bedding snobs. We had a few short-notice needs that were quickly addressed, thanks to Jessica, housekeeper and all around problem solver! My only recommendation is that washclothes be included with the bath towels.
My husband and I spent a long weekend at this property along with our dog, our friends and their 18 month old. We booked the Milliner because it was pet friendly, great location and this booking specifically had two rooms so all of us could stay together. Unfortunately it wasn't as comfortable for our group as we hoped. The lofted bed might be fun for a kid or two, but not a good option for adults. The mattress is more of a futon cot that might be a full size - not a queen - and in the winter with the heat on it got very hot up there. We very much appreciated our hosts who provided an additional rollaway bed to help make us more comfortable. Otherwise, the inn is in a great location so we were glad to take advantage of that!
Great space and location on Warren Street (where you want to be in Hudson). The hotel itself has a cool, eclectic, vintage vibe! Room had all the needed amenities and a comfortable bed...we all got great sleep! Charlotta provided us with an amazing list of recommendations for all there is to do in Hudson and surrounding area. I would definitely recommend this stay and can’t wait to visit again!
This property was beautiful and clean and modern. I’m a clean freak and a bit of a germaphobe, but this property exceeded my expectations. It’s also located minutes from all of the amazing restaurants, no car needed. I’d stay here a million times over!

Comfortable, centrally located, clean and with great character
Super centrally located, comfortable and with great character; it made our getaway weekend even more special.
Only thing to note; the second bedroom is a loft with a steep staircase so not for everyone. But the place is clean and with great character so you may want to be adventurous and overlook this.

About the host
Hosted by Charlotta Janssen
Charlotta is a painter and restauranteur, who grew up in Iran and Germany. Her paintings tour the States and they are inspired by the police mug shots of the heroic Bus Boycotters and Freedom Riders from the '50's and '60's. Her restaurants Chez Oskar and Lola are located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
Shannon is an advertising photographer from New York City, who challenges big waves, plays street basketball and studies jiu jitsu whenever he isn't shooting a photograph or renovating a gorgeous building.
Why they chose this property
Great for urbanites in need of sun, space, luxury, antiques, fine dining, nature walks & culture: located on the main drag of Warren Street, it's a 10 minute walk from the train station. Once a milliner's hat shop built in 1860, you are transported straight into another time the moment you enter. Many original details are still in place: pre-tin plaster moldings, solid mahogany stairwells, pocket doors with etched glass inlay, large mahogany framed windows and gorgeous hardwood floors. The kitchen and bathrooms have been carefully renovated to fit in style with carefully selected and restored fixtures, such as an electric stove from the forties and a refrigerator from that period as well. Add central air, high speed internet and a washer/dryer on premise: the perfect getaway.
What makes this property unique
As busy New Yorkers we understand the need for R & R. We liked the idea of a B&B, but had something a bit more intimate in mind: a romantic place, going back in time, where our guests could come into town, immediately immerse into the surroundings and also if need be withdraw and cook for themselves in a spacious retro kitchen. In another words: a romantic spacious getaway with the beauty of clean air and a country vibe along with the luxury of great restaurants, live entertainment and quality antiquing/shopping
