Our charming wooden chalet on the Axalp is small, cosy, and ideal for anyone looking to escape the daily grind and enjoy a true mountain idyll. Located at about 1,600 metres above sea level and roughly 8 km above Brienz, the Axalp offers a breathtaking view of Lake Brienz and the surrounding Alpine landscape—a place where tranquility and nature take centre stage.

The region is a perfect starting point for numerous hikes—ranging from leisurely walks to varied mountain tours. Excursions to the Hinterburgseeli or towards the Faulhorn, with their magnificent panoramic views, are particularly worthwhile. In winter, Axalp also offers a small, family-friendly ski area away from the big crowds.

For daily needs, there’s a small restaurant on Axalp as well as a place to buy essentials. However, we recommend bringing your own food or planning a shopping stop in the valley in Brienz, as the selection up here is limited.

No Wi-Fi—but plenty of peace, nature, and pure relaxation.

The drive there takes you along a narrow, winding mountain road—typical of the region. Along the way, it’s worth stopping at the impressive Giessbach Falls, which plunge spectacularly into the lake.
