Historic 1917 cottage by the river, walkable to all of downtown Bend!
The "Sweet Spot" of Bend — Walk to Everything
Welcome to a piece of Bend's history. Our masterfully restored 1917 logger cottage sits in the most walkable pocket of the city — the spot locals call the "Sweet Spot," where downtown's vibrant culture meets the shopping and dining of the Old Mill District. We're homeowners, not a management company, so you'll find the little touches we'd want ourselves throughout. Inside is a thoughtfully curated 2-bedroom, 1-bath layout that balances historic charm with modern comfort. True to its 1917 roots, it's a cozy, smaller-scale home where every square foot is put to good use — if you love authentic historic cottages with real character, you'll feel right at home. Two bedrooms plus a Tempur-Pedic sleeper sofa sleep up to 6.
Waterfront Adventure, Right Out the Door
Forget the car and the parking fees. You're just half a block from the surf wave on the Deschutes River and the new river launch — an easy spot to drop in kayaks, paddleboards, or tubes. After your float, stroll home along the Bend River Trail, which leads straight into iconic Drake Park.
Family & Pet Friendly
We're steps from the newly renovated Columbia Park, where families will love the modern play structures and open green space. The cottage is fully pet-friendly with a large, fully fenced yard so your dogs can enjoy the Bend sunshine. One honest note for pet parents: the fence ranges from about 3 to 6 feet — perfect for most dogs, but determined jumpers or climbers will want a little supervision outside.
Built for Groups & Concert-Goers
You're an equidistant, walkable distance to downtown, the Old Mill District, the Box Factory, the Galveston Avenue shops, and the Hayden Homes Amphitheater — walk home after the encore, no Ubers needed. Headed up the mountain? The Mt. Bachelor shuttle stop is a short walk away.
Made for Remote Work & Longer Stays
Fast, reliable Wi-Fi and quiet, sun-drenched corners make working from here easy, while a fully equipped kitchen and in-unit washer/dryer keep longer stays comfortable. Unwind in the evenings around the fire pit or with the smart TVs throughout.
A Space for Every Traveler
Couples: a cozy, historic sanctuary for sunset river walks and stargazing by the fire pit. Families: 2-bedroom layout steps from Columbia Park and the River Trail, with a secure fenced yard for kids and pets. Groups: an equidistant walk to downtown, the Old Mill, and the Amphitheater. Outdoor enthusiasts: half a block to the river launch and surf wave; walkable to the Mt. Bachelor shuttle. Remote workers: dedicated quality Wi-Fi and quiet corners for a premium setup.
Modern Amenities in a Historic Setting
2 bedrooms / 1 bath, sleeps up to 6 Pet-friendly with a private, fully fenced yard Fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances Full laundry (washer/dryer) Smart TVs and high-speed Wi-Fi throughout Gas fire pit in the private backyard Dedicated off-street parking for two vehicles
Good to Know
During the week, we may have someone bring the trash bins to the curb and back, and handle snow removal or landscaping as needed. We do our best to schedule this between stays — but if anything happens during your visit, it'll be quick and unobtrusive.

Host was great. House is super cute, clean & cozy. Fenced yard was great for our border collie and the location was perfect! Fantastic neighborhood, walkable to downtown & Old Mill, centrally located for all of our favorite spots!
Such a perfect location and comfortable cottage for me and my husband. East walking distance (less than a mile) to a variety of great restaurants and the recreation on the Deschutes River.
Bend River Cottage is a charming cozy home in a great location. We parked the car and walked everywhere. The river walk is just a few steps away and there is so much delicious food available near the neighborhood. The yard is completely fenced in so our large and friendly pup was in heaven as the passers by stopped to scratch his ears. We would definitely stay here again!

Thank you for your review! Yes, pups do love the spot don’t they! :)
A short visit during spring break with my college age sons. The owners were very responsive to my booking (within minutes) and gave us the property information well ahead of our arrival. The property was nicely located for walking to restaurants.
Great location - we parked and walked everywhere for the weekend! The house is small but really well equipped. The fenced in yard is lovely and would be great in the summer. The proximity to walking trails and parks was perfect!
Location was perfect. We were able to rent e bikes or walk everywhere we wanted to go. We attended a concert at Hayden Homes and this was perfect location
This is the perfect starting point for everything that is fun in Bend!! Only downsides are bedrooms are very small and A/Cs are window units that aren’t very effective. We ended up having to repair one that had come apart.
This was the perfect place for our family of three. It is in a cute neighborhood very close to the river, parks, stores, restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, etc. It was also spotlessly clean and the kitchen had all we needed - we only ate out once. Overall, a first-rate rental.
The location of this property was amazing , so close to all that Bend has to offer. Everything was walkable from the property and our 2 dogs loved the river which was very close. The only thing missing was some oven mitts and dishcloths otherwise the kitchen was very well stocked. Would definitely stay here again.
Overall, our stay at this wonderful location in Bend, exceeded all expectations. The mesmerizing surroundings and top-notch accommodations made it an unforgettable experience. Whether you're seeking a peaceful retreat or an action-packed adventure, this house has something for everyone. I can't wait to return to this hidden oasis and create more cherished memories in the breathtaking beauty of Bend.
Overall the place was fine. The location was good. The house was somewhat run down.It was all fine, though I would not highly recommend it. The volume control on TV was stuck. It would have been nice had there been actual soap in the shower, the bedrooms are tiny. This is place you don’t have to worry about your kids or animals. With all that said it suited our purposes.

I am so sorry that our cottage did not meet your expectations. Although we have a dozen years of 5 star reviews, we actually stayed at the cottage just after your stay ourselves to do some work on the property after the summer busy season.
Just to note, this is a house that is over 100 years old. Very clean and put together with Old Town Bend character.
I am happy you enjoyed the location. And thank you for the feedback on the remote as we have now replaced it.
This two bedroom home was perfect for our family of four which included two young adult daughters. We booked this place so we could ski at Mt. Bachelor for four days. It had easy access to the road to Bachelor, was fairly close to downtown and just a few blocks from great food shopping and coffee shops. It was also in a nice and quiet neighborhood. I would definitely recommend and would book here again.
Great spot for couples with dogs. Although not really good for small dogs ( gaps under gates, etc.) , the yard has plenty of room for medium and larger dogs to romp free. The second bedroom is nice for keeping all the gear out of the way, and full laundry is a huge plus! Thank You!!

About the host
Hosted by Ian and Kristy Haworth
Hi! We're Ian and Kristy Haworth, and we welcome you to our beautiful Bend cottage! We both grew up in sunny Southern California and moved here as young adults over 30 years ago, so we're no strangers to resort-town living. We raised our kids here — now grown — and we treasure and love Bend! We work hard and play hard, and this is the perfect spot for it: paddleboard on the river, ski Mt. Bachelor in winter, and enjoy everything in between. We look forward to hosting you in beautiful Bend, Oregon!
Why they chose this property
This 1917 home was built during the era of the lumber mill on the river just south of the house. Many of the homes around us are actually old train cars the mill workers pieced together to live in — Ian's parents live in one of those, right on the river down the street. There's incredible history in these streets; this is truly where the center of town began. We've had the privilege of owning this home since 1996, and it's where we lived when we first got married. So many sweet memories live here — and now it's waiting for you to build your own!
What makes this property unique
There's no place like this area to live — or to vacation! Most people don't use their cars to get around. Even in winter, it's fun to bundle up and walk to breakfast around the corner, or take the path to the Old Mill for a movie or a concert. Everyone's friendly here — a smile and a wave everywhere you go!
