This is a stone country cottage in the countryside where we focus on providing a clean, well-equipped rental with modern comforts. There are Simmons pocket-sprung mattresses with freshly-ironed cottons sheets and a very well equipped kitchen. It has a new gas boiler and a very effective wood-burner. We live onsite and are there if you have any questions or need any help, other than that we take a step back to allow you to enjoy your stay.
Très bon accueil des propriétaires ,gite Très sympathique, jardin ombragé, piscine avec une vue splendide, un vrai moment de détente et situation idéal pour la découverte du lot

Characterful, comfortable, and relaxing
Les Lavandes is a very well equipped and comfortable gites in a quiet setting in the countryside outside Cahors. There is a lovely pool which is shared with the other gites owned by the same owners next door from which there are spectacular views. The gites itself is an old cottage with wooden beams and is well appointed and nicely done. There are plenty of places of interest to visit in the near vicinity.

Flawless visit to great gite with lovely pool in a wonderful part of France
we (myself, my wife and two 12 year old girls) stayed for 2 weeks and had a wonderful time here - we could not have wished for more!
The site is very well-equipped, self-contained with a beautiful pool - absolutely spotlessly clean, with a lot of space and seating around it, kept secure (so little ones would stumble into it) and at the end of a long hot day, an absolute delight to use. The views from the pool terrace, especially at sunset, are amazing.
The location is great - quiet at night so you can get a good sleep, but close enough to Cahors (10 mins), the Lot river area, Saint Cirque Lapopoe, canoeing on the Cele river, swimming at Vers, cycling and walking on the tow-path, Rocamadour, etc., etc. - it feels like we only scratched the surface in this beautiful part of France - I have seen a lot of France, this is definitely one of my favourite areas.
The previous reviews have said most things already (I really do not understand the 2 star review btw), but just wanted to mention how helpful and friendly the owner Virginia is, whilst respecting your privacy - she takes great pride in keeping the gite and the pool in beautiful condition and her guests happy. She has detailed knowledge of the area and gave us loads of good tips - thank you, we hope to be back some time soon....

Cadre superbe
Response from VrboOwner on 26 March 2020

Wonderful, relaxing property
The gite was extremely well equipped. The owners have actually lived in the house in the past, which has resulted in extensive kitchen utensils, large amount of storage for clothing, and a washing machine (plus clothesline outdoors for drying). TV is available in English or French. The grounds, which include a play space, pool, ping-pong table and outdoor dining area, made it a fun place for the kids and relaxing environment for the adults. It was simple to book and the owner Virginia was very responsive to all my questions. She has lived in the area for 12 years, so she can recommend all sorts of restaurants and activities as well as give directions & maps to anywhere you plan to go. In the area, I would say that dining at La Truite Doree in Vers and taking a tour of La Grotte du Pech-Merle were our favorite activities (besides lounging by the pool, that is). Of our 4 weeks in France, we enjoyed our stay at this gite the most. Will definitely give this address to friends.

Wonderful stay near Cahors
We had a wonderful stay at "Le mas des Cypres" a few minutes away from Cahors and in the vicinity of great touristic sites in the Lot department.
The two-floors house was clean and well equipped. It could easily accomodate a family of four, we even had an additionnal guest on site.
The landlady is easily available and always helpful.
Concerning the property around the house, kids enjoyed the many outdoor toys and swings available, and of course the swimming pool (very well tended).

Lovely property in an interesting region
Our family had a marvellous time in this comfortable, spotless and beautifully equipped stone farmhouse. The saltwater swimming pool was lovely and our girls (3 and 6 years old) enjoyed the play equipment in the garden, especially the trampoline. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding area (visits to Rocamadour, Cirque La Popie and river swimming in the Lot and Cele were highlights) and Virginia welcomed us warmly. We would happily stay here again on a future visit to the Dordogne - thanks again Virginia!

Le mas des Cypres
Had a really great holiday here. Weather was hot yet the gite stayed pretty cool throughout. Pool and views are fantastic and the local town has plenty of very good restaurants. For a great day out - go canoeing 20 minutes up the road - more fantastic views and great fun especially for kids who adore it.
Lots of places to visit too although i did prefer relaxing by the pool in the sun and when you are there watch the sun sets and shooting stars.
Thanks to Ginny and Paul who helped make it a great and informative holiday for all of us - will definetly go again, especially as the kids want to book now.

We make a great effort to ensure our gites and facilities are well-equipped and maintained. It is always lovely to hear when someone has enjoyed their stay especially when they have tried some of the many activites, such as canoeing, nearby. Cahors, just 8 minutes away has a good choice of restaurants and a bi-weekly market although the larger villages also have weekly markets full of wonderful local produce.

Perfect for young families
The gite met all our expectations and is as the pictures on this site show. The house was clean and well equiped, with a good climate and beautiful views. As there was a nice playground and a clean and gated pool, we didn't have to worry about our children. The lovely daugther of the owners of the gite spend quite a bit of time playing with our 4 year old and so provided the 'enterainment team' of the site. Adding up to the relaxing experience was the comfortable bed so we did not wake up with sore backs this trip. The other sleeping room, with two single beds, is always cool and so perfect for children in hot summertime. The owners are friendly, welcoming and helpful. As they've been living in Constans for about 8 years, they know the area very well. Cahors is a 10-15 min drive and is a nice town with good bakeries and supermarkets, and a market twice a week. The Lot has many other interesting places and Toulouse is worth a visit as well, but being at 'La Provencal' was - as we found out - never a dull thing to do.

We are always pleased when we hear that guests have enjoyed their stay with us. We have high standards of cleanliness and consider safety as paramount. We work hard to ensure that children enjoy their stay as, being parents ourselves, we know that if the children are happy the parents will be!
From an alarmed and fenced pool accessed by steps instead of a ladder to a play area with swings, slides, chalet, seesaw and trampoline our gites offer a safe, child-friendly place to relax and enjoy your well-earned break.
We offer all you need for a young child or baby including an foc baby pack comprising travelcot, baby bath and highchair; we also have a stroller available should you prefer to lessen the luggage load.

Beautiful! We enjoyed it so much that we went back for a second week. Paul and Virginia are great hosts. We were met with a warm welcome by the whole family. Paul was always ready with directions and suggestions of places to visit. This is a great central spot if you are visiting the Dordogne and Lot area. I definitely would stay at the gite again.

Winter stay
We stayed for 9 nights on a house hunting trip , the gite was well placed for motorway access and was well presented , a very warm welcome greeted us and lots of use full info provided.
About the host
Hosted by Virginia Paschall
We moved from southeast England down to this lovely, sunny area full of history and vineyards for a new adventure and to enjoy a quieter life. We rented many gites before and have put in place what we liked and avoid what we didn't like in our own rentals. We regularly update and redecorate our two rentals. The last few years, as well as the standard repainting, we have built pergolas, and in La Provencal - fitted a solid oak floor to the twin room, redone the shower room and replaced the roof. For 2023, we now have fibre.
Why they chose this property
Its views over the hills and sunsets, the quiet yet its proximity to Cahors with the market, shops, restaurants and station as well as the easy access. We did not want a long drive down windy country lanes once we'd left the motorway!
During summer there is always a village fete going on with the lovely local food and wine.
We love the easy access to the med and Spain - a favourite day trip we do every year is to the med beaches. Toulouse is close-by with its shops and restaurants.
We are spoilt with the many nearby activities and places of interest not to forget the lovely weather!
What makes this property unique
Peace and quiet, views, relaxation, ease of visiting local sites and the vineyards.
It is easy to find a quiet spot in the garden away from the pool. Or why not relax on a sunbed by the pool with a good book.
We love that we are in the peace and quiet of the hills, with a slight breeze which is lovely in the summer heat, but less than 15 mins drive from Cahors centre with its famous market, shops and restaurants.
There is a wide choice
- of excursions within easy reach and activities such as water parks, tree-climbing, road trains
or day trips to enjoy the steam train at Martel, shopping in Toulouse
or amble round some of the prettiest villages in France like Rocamadour and Saint Cirq Lapopie
or visit the many vineyards and take part in wine-tasting sessions and lunch.
We enjoy weekends in Barcelona, daytrips to Andorra for duty-free shopping and our favourite weekend: lunch and shopping in Andorra, an evening and day at the beach then home.
We love our annual day trip to the Med beaches.
