To the immediate north are miles of New Forest that encompasses beautiful open heathland and enclosed woodland, offering unspoilt horse riding and walking. Iron Age hill fort site within a two-minute walk.
Secluded location, but there are two food stores nearby - 'Co-operative food' (post code SO41 8XN, 3-minute drive or 10 minute walk through the forest) and Waitrose Lymington (post code SO41 9GF, 5-minute drive.)
A 5-min drive or 25-minute walk through the public field to High street of the Georgian town of Lymington.
In Lymington - pubs, restaurants, a range of shopping facilities including supermarkets, boutiques in the old port area. Every Saturday there is a market taking place on Lymington High Street showcasing local produce with some vendors from France. It is the largest market in the New Forest.
All kinds of boat and sailing activities.
Beaches and water activities at nearby villages Milford on Sea (10-min drive), Barton on Sea (nice walk at the top of the cliff) and between Highcliffe and Mudeford. Popular coastal walk to the Hurst spit and castle. Beautiful Highcliffe castle with surrounding gardens and hiking trails further down the coast (20-min drive). Crabbing and fishing and seafood venues along the Friars cliff to Mudeford promenade.
More ideas on things to do and see in the area:
Solent way walk;
1000-year-old St John’s church in Boldre; services on Sundays, including children’s nursery;
Horse riding in Brockenhurst;
Beaulieu motor museum;
Buckler’s Hard;
Popular Sunday car-boot sale near us called Strawberry Fields;
Longdown Activity farm, popular with children;
Nice old towns of Christchurch and Lyndhurst. Lyndhurst has a great New Forest tourist information centre with brochures on more things to do, walking and cycling trails, etc.
We can highly recommend the 'Monkey House' restaurant/pub that is a 2-minute drive towards Lymington. The beautiful and upscale ‘The Pig’ restaurant in Brockenhurst is great for family celebrations and is 20 minutes away.
From Lymington short ferry ride to Isle of Wight with beautiful nature walks.
The Lymington Town train station is a 10-minute taxi ride or a 30-minute walk (1.3 miles) from the house with a rail connection to London Waterloo. Alternatively, the forest village of Brockenhurst is 4 miles away with a direct rail connection to London Waterloo.
A working 1000-year old church in Boldre within a 10-minute drive.
We allow pets, but charge a sanitation fee of £25 per pet per night. They need monitoring to ensure they do not run into the forest or on the road.
We have a doorbell with external camera on the front porch. It will turn on in case of motion.
