My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this house in front of the lake. Sunrise and Sunset were spectacular!
Communication with the owner was excellent. She replied super fast. House was really clean and in a great location! Definitely will stay there again!

The home & views were beautiful. However, the dust & cobwebs were a bit too much. It’s also difficult to feel at home there because of all of the owners personal belongings & photos everywhere.

The home, property, and lake completely lived up to expectations. The only negative would be to say that there were a ton of cobwebs inside and outside, I broom every once in a while to clean them up would make a big difference! Otherwise, I completely recommend this rental!
Ms. Joan's Log Cabin on Lake Pagosa was LITERALLY the perfect spot to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary this Fall 2023. We are already missing it and can't wait to go back soon!
Great location to Pagosa Springs downtown (about 7 min. drive) where there is shopping, restaurants, and of course the hot spring where you can dip your toes, legs or if you're brave enough, submerge entirely after a long day of sightseeing, trail hiking, etc.
On days you find yourself wanting to relax, which we took few during our stay, the cabin itself fulfills this! Lake Pagosa is steps away from the front porches with a floating dock where you can fish, take the kayaks, paddleboat and canoe around the lake, and/or read a book while watching the wildlife around you. We were lucky enough to see deer a plentiful in our backyard! In the early mornings, you can see the hot air balloons floating in the distance or above the lake which made us take a tour of our own! Once of a lifetime experience and bucket list item for sure. We recommend Pagosa Adventure! *Grilling outside was a great treat as well!
If you are a hiker, the cabin sits in the middle of many trailheads in the Pagosa Springs area. Make sure to hit Treasure Falls and Piedra Falls as these are gorgeous makings of nature.
Great trip and the best place to stay in Pagosa Springs! Ms. Joan is a wonderful host and makes herself available to answer any questions we had! Thank you for sharing your home with us!
We had a great time at this lovely house in Pagosa! My husband, my three-month-old son, and I stayed for three nights while we were in town house shopping. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and the setting and neighborhood are absolutely beautiful. Just a few helpful points for future renters: the bedroom at the end of the hallway gets VERY cold if you are staying in the chillier months. You will definitely want to bring warm clothes to sleep in back there. We did not use the upstairs bedrooms, but they were also very very cold, and the heater did not do much to change that. We are hot sleepers, so it wasn’t an issue for us. And secondly, even though the home lists Wi-Fi available, the signal is so poor that there might as well not be any Wi-Fi at all. If you have internet-based work to do, don’t plan on getting it done here. We think the Internet issue is a Pagosa-wide problem though. Not just this home. The cell signal for both AT&T and Verizon was also very poor at the house.
Other than those two issues, our stay was great. We would definitely rent again!
The cabin was right on the water and the host was amazing. Everything was wonderful and we will return soon! If you are looking to get away and enjoy some quiet time, this is the property for you.
Second year that my family and I spent in this house around Thanksgiving break; and both times it has been excellent!
Location is great and having the lake in the back yard was relaxing and beautiful! Thanks, Ms. Joan for everything!
Cabin and location were very nice. Fishing right out your back door. We loved the place and the time we spent at the Cabin. The manager was wonderful. We plan on going again.
Great place on the lake to vacation with your family.
Great place on the lake to vacation with your family.
Owner is very nice and accommodating. This is a cabin not a luxury hotel. But it has everything you could need and it’s very well-kept and clean. It is right on the lake and the kids loved the Paddleboat and the canoe. I hope to stay there again.
Cabin had plenty of room, updated, and so comfortable. Well equipped with everything you could possibly need. And, oh the view! We absolutely enjoyed fishing on the dock! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
This vacation was a lifelong dream for me to stay at a cabin in the mountain by a lake with snow. It was an Amazing Enjoyable vacation and the property manager gave exceptional services with a Great Smiling personality. The cabin was beautiful just a breathtaking cabin. I have already made plans to go back next year… I Loved and enjoy my vacation Dream….
Pros -
Views are wonderful at all times of the day. Great fun watching ducks, fish and deer. The cabin is very close to the lake. The kitchen is well equipped. The ground floor bedrooms are spacious. The dining area is small but we enjoyed the table for meals, games, and simply talking. The ice maker is wonderful.
Cons -
The entry into the house is very narrow with no rail. If you have any mobility issues, it could be difficult going in and out.
In the pictures it appears the cabin has lots of space. It is stuck in-between two other houses with a garage apt at the top of the lot., There is little room outside and little privacy. We were not allowed to use the fire pit. The upstairs bedroom had ventilation problems. The solution we were given was to open a window. The upstairs couple slept on the couches downstairs. Not good. The cabin needs updating. For the price, it was not as nice as we had hoped. We were not sad to leave.
Pagosa Springs is a great place to visit. We had lots of fun. We hope the cabin works better for you than it did for us.

Quaint rustic cabin with limitations
Location on the lake was great. The cabin is well represented to the pics shown on VRBO. It is a quaint rustic cabin. All cooking utensils, pots and pans were available for use. Some were a little older than expected (old rusty can opener and well used sheet pans). If you are afraid of spiders this might not be the cabin for you.
We were disappointed we could not use the outdoor fire pit. And we felt we did not have any privacy with the property manager/owner staying in the garage apartment. We ended staying 2 of the 4 booked nights.
This is the second year that we stayed here --- this time we brought along my bros and his wife. We came to relax and to fish and had a great time doing both. Joan was gracious as always and we all enjoyed our stay. Great place - great location and the fishing is pretty darn good right off the dock. There was a algae bloom on the lake but that comes with a hot summer -- didn't stop us from enjoying the lake.
We really enjoyed the view. We watched osprey diving for fish, ducks, fish jumping, and deer walking through the back yard daily.
All meals in restaurants were very good (Thai, pizza/salad, and mexican).
Joan was a super host for us.
We were recommended this property by friends who have stayed at the cabin previously. This large cabin is located on Pagosa Lake and is a short drive from Pagosa Springs. Joan was very communicative through the whole process and during our stay. We will definitely come back as we love what Pagosa Springs has to offer.
The cabin was clean, comfortable beds and pleasant lakeside decore. We enjoyed kayaking, reading on the porch, a campfire and exploring Pagosa Springs.
We loved our time here! This property, along with the next door one, is a breath of fresh air. Plenty of space and well equipped house, fun for the kids with the peek-a-boo windows, and relaxing! The outdoor space just lets you melt your troubles away. Large outdoor table, good chairs, great dock/lakefront space for fishing, and my favorite, easy access to the kayaks. Truly, this is a wonderful place to check-out from the chaos normal life can bring at times. High recommend! And thank you Joan for helping our family create priceless memories!
This lakeside cabin was the perfect place for our family to get away for a week. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and have their space when needed but not feel disconnected. The kayaks and paddle boat were an added bonus, that was usually the first thing the kids wanted to do when they got up in the mornings. Miss Joan was an amazing host and we really enjoyed chatting with her. Our kiddos have already asked if we can come back next summer!!
