Enys Boathouse - a unique and quirky holiday let in the heart of rural Cornwall
Enys Boathouse offers self catering accommodation in rural Cornwall. Situated in the heart of a Cornish village, our holiday let is deceptively spacious and comfortably furnished, sleeping up to four people. Enys Boathouse is a unique wooden structure - a copy of the Bolney Ferry Boathouse on the River Thames. This charming property benefits from its own private terrace with panoramic westerly views out over the countryside.
The village of Porkellis is ideal for those seeking a quiet, rural holiday let in Cornwall.
The boathouse is a studio-style space and offers versatile self catering accommodation suitable for families, couples or groups of friends. The main living area converts into a double bedroom; a comfy double wall bed (with a proper sprung mattress) provides the main sleeping facilities - this folds away when not in use .
For smaller children (aged 5 and over) there is the added excitement of sleeping in the Crow’s Nest - only accessible via a loft ladder - a cosy sleeping space in the eaves of the property that is ideal for younger children but is spacious enough for two adults at a squeeze, should you prefer.
All bedding and towels are provided.
When the beds are not in use, the open plan living space is great for entertaining. A TV, with Freeview, DVD player. Free unlimited broadband is also available at the property.
A sailor's kitchen awaits for those who enjoy cooking and guests also have use of a BBQ. However, for those who prefer to eat out, the local pub - offering good value food and drink - is just a minute’s walk away.
Kitchen facilities include:
- Microwave and Air Fryer - Portable Oven and hob - Small fridge and freezer - Kettle - On-demand hot water
Elsewhere, there is also a small dining table and, for when the sun is shining, an outdoor table, chairs and parasol are also at hand.
Enys Boathouse boasts a cosy shower room, toilet and wash basin - towels will be provided.
Should you need to wash or dry your clothes, there is also a small room located on the ground floor (where parking is also available). Here you will find a washing machine and tumble drier as well as clothes line, BBQ and deck chairs.
Porkellis is perfectly situated; it is a quiet country village, surrounded by green fields, yet ideally located for access to both north and south coasts, the busy towns of Helston, Falmouth and Truro and many visitor attractions.

We had a lovely cosy stay in Enys Boathouse. The property is interesting , well equipped and comfortable. It is very quiet tomorrow and relaxing and the children loved the fairy garden and swing in the garden! . They were so excited when we arrived ! All together a very special experience. Michael the host was very friendly and helpful and provided detailed information in the information folder. The Star Inn a short walk away serves lovely meals and has great service.
Everything was what we wanted. We didn't use loft space as we thought more for children not teenager
Well worth the money.and would stay again

Wonderfully quirky and comfy
Spent Christmas here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Can imagine that would be great in the summer and would be able to make better use of the private garden. Small oven made Xmas dinner a little challenging but was practical enough.
Overall a great stay... thanks Mike...

A home from home
I can truly say that the Enys Boathouse was a home from home! I found peace and much needed rest. The house itself is cosy and has everything you need. The village of Porkellis is tranquil. A visit to the pub that is within a short walking distance can definitely be recommended. Also, Enys Boathouse is ideally situated for so many walks, visits to beautiful gardens and many many other attractions that Cornwall has to offer. And last but not least: Mike and his wife are wonderful hosts. I will be back!

Tranquil retreat
The boathouse sits up in the trees overlooking the garden. The owners thought of everything such as cooking utensils, comfy bed and plenty of little touches such as books and tourist guides to make it a great place to just chill out. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and it is close to many other towns and seaside areas. I left the boathouse feeling thoroughly revived and hope to come back again in the future. Lovely owners who sent plenty of instructions to help me find the place and make sure that I was settled in.

Loved it. Very Quirky and Cool.
We had a great 3 nights stay in the Boathouse. It was just the right size for the family of 4 considering we were mostly only there in the evening. Mike was a great host and showed us round the property. Kids slept up in the loft for the first 2 nights then my wife and I gave it a go on the final night.
Overall it was a very enjoyable stay and was a good base for touring round cornwall. Would recommend thoroughly.
Nice place ti stay, somewhat unussual. Very quit and has sll the thigs you need.

A lovely quiet space perfect for escaping the burdens of modern life
The Boathouse is a lovely space: clean, warm, well lit and very comfortable, Mike and His Wife were very welcoming.
The Boathouse provided us with a great base from which to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside. The local pub/library/shop (all three services in one building with tasty beer) is but a stones throw away and serves great food and beer should cooking seem like too much of a bother.
We will be back again.

Outstanding Accommodation in the heart of Cornwall.
We looked for a nice peaceful location in the heart of Cornwall and found Porkellis to be ideal.
Enys Boathouse, situated in the heart of the village, was perfect for our family of four for the weeks get away. Immaculatly clean, it had everything we needed for a home from home. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you'd need, corkscrew included! The living area provided space for two adults and two teenagers to have space from each other when needed and was cosy when we were together when eating or playing games. The facilities included a washer & dryer which came in very useful after all the trips to the beaches. With a secluded garden, ideal if you've got little ones who like to run and play, Enys Boathouse is tucked away off the beaten track and a stones throw from the village pub where we were made to feel most welcome. Our gracious hosts for the week were just next door and nothing was too much trouble, not that they hadn't thought of everything already.
We have no hesitation in recommending Enys Boathouse to families, young and old, singles or couples looking for a relaxing break from the pressures of modern life and we look forward to returning again in the future.

About the host

We moved to Porkellis in 2014 and have been running a successful holiday let here ever since. As we live in the village we are on hand if you have any queries and we are happy to give recommendations on the many beautiful places you can visit locally, as well as excellent places to eat and drink.
