Magical Mountain Cottage

This cottage is set in a 12-acre valley at 2100 feet above sea level, with 2-acres of open magical park-like surroundings. Fronting on the Little Tennessee River. The charming cottage has two bedrooms and two bathrooms with comfortable beds for four people. The sun-room can also be used as a separate bedroom. The cottage is fully furnished, has a DVD monitor and player, but no TV service, satellite internet service with computer and Wi-Fi and has lovely landscaping with tall trees all around. It also boasts two outdoor entertainment areas - one screened and one open with a roof above. The location is quite rural, but easily accessible to a major highway. About 12 miles from Franklin, NC and 3 miles from the Georgia border and shopping center.. The closest airport would be Asheville, North Carolina, about an hour's drive. We welcome pets.

Loved the porches

I was sad that it was cold when we went or I would have spent more time outside. It was a very nice and cozy place. The owner was nice and quickly brought us a cookie sheet when we couldnt find one. It was quiet and relaxing and I love that my dog was able to come along.

Beautiful Quaint Cottage in the Mountains!

The Rendely's were wonderful hosts and this home has a lot to offer if you want to get away form the busy noise of the city! Beautiful gardens and living spaces. Of course wifi in the mountains is always challenging but we managed. We so look forward to staying here again!

Propery is delightful...Ron & Ruth are warm & kind, & very quick to meet any needs that pop up. They are just downright good people! They also know where to eat in Franklin. 3 places they recommended were perfection.. House was inviting and lovely inside & out. Otto, NC Getaway

Overall, this cabin is really nice, lots of charm, good location, easy to get to. It has a mountain feel without needing a 4-wheel drive. The only things I would have liked were a bit more glassware (one wine glass), and cable TV. The TV is streaming only, didn't know about it until we got up there and was hoping to watch some of the bowl games. Owners were great. If you're looking for a nice place to rent, this should fit the bill.

Beds were comfortable, We had two big roaches and a number of small bugs that we had to kill. Main bathroom and small bedroom had cat pee smell after the cleaning product sent went away. Lots of dust and webs in the corners where wires were piled up after disconnected. Kitchen was very nice had what we needed. Living room comfortable. Fire place could not be used because it used to much propane and was hard to light per Ruth. Had a few leaks on screened porch roof. Eves were dirty and had webs. Handrail to front door rotten and unstable, knob on top came off. My disabled husband actually fell when he tried to steady himself going up the stairs. He was very tired after a 7 hour trip there. Ruth and her husband came to help me get him up. All they said was the house is really old. They do not text. Host should state that on their contact info. I sent a few text with no reply. I had to reach her through the Vrbo site. She did give a phone number but did not state it was just a landline. The walk way to the back steps has green moss on the path stones that gets slippery when it rains. The garage was nice to use. Tight turn to entrance and leaving. Could be a beautiful place if some work was done on it. All and all it was a nice stay. Just expected it to be clean and everything useable for the price paid.

This could be a very beautiful place to stay. Unfortunately, the woman who controls this property has a very dark energy and behaves in mean-spirited ways. When I arrived at the house, I noted it was very dirty. The floors, windows and screens were absolutely filthy, as were the porches, which were filled with dirt and mold. There were foul smells in every closet and certain portions of the house also had bad smells. Although the woman's husband is kind and tries to be helpful, his wife makes it impossible for anyone to feel comfortable in the house and on the property. She is a nasty person. I should let people know that this woman has a distorted belief that people will not leave the house when she wants them to. So she cuts off the internet on her tenants thinking this will ensure their departure. She did this to me during the last 5 days of my stay, and also to the tenant before me (and perhaps others?). She made it unbelievably challenging for me to do my work and communicate during the transition away from that house and added absurd levels of stress that should not have happened. On top of this, I had paid her cash for the internet service!!!! This is not something I should not have had to do since it was supposed to be included in the price. The female owner of this property is not a nice person (I would even call her evil) and I highly recommend people avoid this place for that reason.

Lovely cottage

This cottage is surrounded by nature and beauty! We stayed about 6 weeks and had everything we needed. Unfortunately, we were unable to watch TV due to Internet issues. We highly recommend. Thank you, Ron & Ruth

This was a cozy rental for a family of 4 - we hit several low-traffic trails during our stay with beautiful views. Location was nice, and not too far from nice, small towns like Highlands and Cashiers.

Cute and cozy little Cottage

Ruth and Ron were excellent hosts with the perfect little cottage. Ron even checked on us as the first morning there was a small little power outage and he wanted to make sure we were good, we didn't even notice as the cottage has a built in generator. Felt like home away from home. The fire place kept us warm, beds were comfortable. We would stay again. The only down thing we would recommend, is the garden area fence and gate. The fence is not high enough where our dogs could jump out of the yard and the gate would not secure to help keep them in as well. But that would not prevent us from staying at The Cottage again.

Wonderful Cottage!

I hate to give this cottage such a great review because it will be in so much demand that it will be hard for me to rebook again. We absolutely loved our stay. Ruth and Ron were very easy to communicate with. The entire process from booking to check out was so easy. The cottage is very clean and comfortable with all the amenities you need. My pulse rate dropped to such a peaceful level in its environ. Tons of privacy in the woods while close to shopping and great destinations. Total privacy from the owners as well, however, they are there for your every need. I'd give this rental a TEN if there were enough stars. Wende.

The cottage is very cozy & comfortable. All the conveniences you could want hidden in a wonderful cottage in the woods. Convenient to many attractions, little towns, & shops. Ron & Ruth are wonderful hosts & I never wanted for anything. Would highly recommend this serene & beautiful place

What makes this property unique

The Cottage is one-of-a-kind, with fabulous landscaping and unusual mature plants all around that showcase it in every season. The rooms are dressed to look Victorian, which is most conducive to the style of the building itself. In addition, there appears to be an angelic presence palpable on the land here.
Don't bring bottled water (unless you want to). The water has just been tested, you won't find better tap water in Eastern US.
