About this property

Magnificent old traditional chalet renovated recently with extreme charm

The comfort of a recent renovation (in 2009) with all the charm of the traditional Grand Bornand chalet(built in 1737), and a magnificent decoration give to "La Ruche" an extremely warm character.
Traditionnaly used by the owners, it benefits from all the characteristics destinated to our own comfort and not the ones only for rental (high range equipment, games, numerous DVDs, cartoons, books, Nespresso coffee machine, Bose Ipod Soundock etc...).
Located close to the great Grand Bornand slopes (access in 2 minutes with the free "skibus" shuttle), it will make you appreciate after ski as much as ski itself, especially around a nice large chimney fire.
South west orientation to take full adavantage of the balconies and of the view on the slopes and the Aravis.
It is ideally organised for 2 or 3 families with independent playroom and TV room from the salon and dining room.
It is also great in the summer with exceptional green moutain environment and lots of activities.

Magnificent Chalet - a gem in a beautiful valley.

La Ruche is a truly unique historical chalet nestled on the side of the valley with views to the Aravis mountain range. The restoration is superb, sympathetic and full of character with a very homely feeling. This was our fifth visit to Le Grand Bornand and our best yet. The region has so much to offer for visitors of all ages. We love the fun of the summer ice rink, the excitement of the summer luge, a great 9 hole golf course, the beauty of the mountain passes and valleys.. the list goes on! We are keen cyclists and the lake of Annecy (about 40 minutes drive from the chalet) offers amazing water sports in one of Europes cleanest lakes. If that is not enough, the walking and treking is almost limitless from your doorstep, and there is a fabulous go kart track about 15 minutes from the chalet towards Thones. Food wise, Le Grand Bornand offers a variety of local and international cuisine (our personal favourite is a pizza on the terrace of La Boheme at the top of the town square, and if you are a real foodie, there are a number of Michelin Star accredited restaurants within a 20 minute drive. And of course, in the winter months Le Grand Bornand offers great downhill skiing for the family, and is one of Europe’s big centres for cross country skiing. Could not recommend more highly for a family or group who enjoy the great outdoors and a cosy retreat back at La Ruche. Finally, Laurent was a great host, he responded almost immediately and made some great recommendations.

Vacances entre amis avec enfants et bébés

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans le chalet. Il est très bien placé et bien équipé. Nous n’avons pas utilisé la septième chambre dédiée aux enfants car elle n’était pas adaptée aux âges de nos enfants (2 fillettes de 5 ans et 3 bébés de moins de 2 ans).

Charmant chalet, idéal pour grande famille

Chalet très agréable de par sa décoration, sa localisation et le nombre de chambres proposées (nous étions 12, dont 4 couples et 2 enfants). La cuisine est très bien équipée et fonctionnelle. Le propriétaire ainsi que la dame responsable du ménage sont très agréables et réactifs ! Nous recommandons vivement cette location !

Magnifique chalet ancien dans lequel on se sent comme chez soi. Décoration soignée et équipement parfait. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Petit bémol : le chalet est au bord de la route et l’été c’est un peu gênant quand on veut profiter de la terrasse.

Nous étions 14 et avons passé un excellent séjour. Chalet confortable, cuisine bien équipée, cheminée, bois, navettes à proximité. Bien accueilli par le propriétaire arrangeant et disponible. Seul petit bémol seulement 2 WC ce qui est un peu juste pour la capacité de ce logement.( c'était précisé dans la description) Nous recommmandons

Grand chalet de caractère, belle décoration authentique, cuisine très bien équipée, nombreuses chambres et sanitaires plus confortable mezzanine, et deux grands balcons. Bémols : vue limitée, table du séjour pour 12 seulement, extérieurs peu pratiques d'accès et non clos. Route proche. La plus petite (et étroite) chambre a un problème de fuite en cas de forte pluie.

Excellent séjour. On se sent bien dans ce chalet à l'atmosphère chaleureuse et familiale. La déco est une réussite car elle a gardé le côté authentique du lieu. Nous étions nombreux mais chacun a trouvé à sa place. Endroit rêvé pour les enfants.

Super chalet

Spacieux et superbement rénové, je le recommande vivement. Nous étions 10 adultes, et un enfant, la dimension du chalet était parfaite pour notre groupe. L'accès aux pistes du Grand Bornant est très facile en navettes. Très facile d'accès, le parking juste à côté est très pratique, et même si la route principale est toute proche (attention en traversant), le calme règne à l'intérieur du chalet.

Chalet chaleureux pour grande famille

Superbe chalet ancien, rénové avec goût, confortable, bien équipé, avec plein d'espaces de vie pour petits et grands. Nous y étions en été, 12 personnes de 3 générations. Chacun y a été bien. Très belle vue de l'étage principal. Montagne alentour avec énormément de possibilités : randos, escalade, via ferrata, cueillettes colossales de cèpes, myrtilles, framboises, parapente, golf (practice à 4 km), baignade au lac d'Annecy à 24°C! Petit bémol l'été : route départementale passante qui nuit au calme du jardin, et commerces qui nécessitent une voiture . Mais, au total, excellente semaine familiale sportive dans un chalet ravissant.

A great restoration of a very old traditional farmhouse with excellent bedroom facilities.

We organised a family get together involving our children and grandchildren, totalling 16 persons. We know the area well,having a small appartment nearby. The weather was glorious sunshine and much of the time was spent out side around Chinaillon or at the pools in Le Grand Bornand..
