The cottage is decorated with original art by local artists including paintings, photographs and sculptures. More of which can be found on Artsake a UK website, but if you wish, you may also purchase some of the works in the cottage.

BATHROOM
Sorgente is an Italian word meaning SOURCE, usually used for water source but can also be used for the source of energy. Our bathroom was not the reason we chose this name for our holiday cottage but you'd be forgiven for thinking so. We have high water pressure and a large gas combi boiler that delivers copious amounts of water through our rain shower.
We added the luxury of a bidet and a bath large enough for two and to avoid using shower curtains, the floor is sealed so any splashing is not a problem. Tiled completely using Italian porcelain adds to the luxurious experience, bathing not only in water but also in lots of light, including natural light from a large skylight window.
Due to the heat recovery system there are no noisy fans each time you switch on the light and no more steamy mirrors.

THE MASTER BEDROOM is situated at the rear of the property with two double-glazed modern windows over-looking the garden. The standard-sized double bed has an orthopedic-type mattress, and matching bedside tables and chest of draws with mirror. The floor is of solid oak and feels great under bare feet, even in the winter, although the house shoes provided may be more to your liking.

Sorgente's TWIN BEDROOM has two standard singles with luxury mattresses, ample storage space and access around the room. As with all the rooms, the floor is in natural wood, and in this case has been finished with bees wax, so it feels very smooth even under bare feet. With traditional box sash windows, recently restored using sound proofing and double glazing, you're sure to sleep snuggly at night. The generously sized bathroom is situated on the same floor nestled between the two bedrooms for easy access.

LIVING ROOM
A wood burning stove for those cozy evenings any time of the year, although not essential for heating especially in the summer months. During winter months this provides enough heat for the house even with minimal gas central heating. Kiln-dried seasoned logs can be provided for your arrival, but we ask that you order them no later than a week before your arrival. We also provide a list of places where these can be bought locally. Other solid fuels such as coal, briquettes, coalite and the compressed wood chip-type logs etc., cannot be used.
To further enjoy this spacious area with natural wooden floor, we have provided 'house shoes' (slippers) for your comfort.

KITCHEN & DINING ROOM
Between the living room and the garden, the kitchen allows light to penetrate the whole ground floor through its large double glazed patio windows. Porcelain tiled flooring compliments the warmer colours of the deep beach timber used within the kitchen area, and the tiles in the garden.
Add fresh herbs to your cooking direct from the garden, you'll find rosemary and thyme growing in the Cornish hedge and other tasty seasonals in nooks, crannies and sometimes in pots.

COTTAGE GARDEN
A cottage wouldn't be complete without a garden and ours can be a real sun trap.
It has been redesigned and rebuilt using traditional Cornish hedging as the boundary walls. These are similar to dry stone walls because they use no mortar in their construction, although Cornish walls make use of the soil knitted together by the roots of wild plants and flowers.
The garden is on two levels and children should be supervised especially on the upper level. The lower part, paved in black limestone, is an ideal spot for hanging out any washing or perhaps even your wet suits. You will find a storage box for the folded garden furniture.
From October 2016 the BBQ (seen in the images on this website) was removed to create more usable space in the garden. A new BBQ space has been built into the wall, this may be used for your own portable/disposable charcoal barbecues.

Please note that due to COVID-19 we may have reduced some of the inventory mentioned elsewhere or below.
Bookings that are cancelled due to Covid restrictions (re)introduced before your stay commences, will be refunded in full.
We accept bookings on the condition that ALL guests staying are from the same household, normally living together in the same home. All guests MUST be accounted for in the original booking as no other guests or visitors will be allowed into the property.
We have always paid a lot of attention to cleanliness but have now updated our cleaning routine and provide our guests with various products to help them stay safe. We advise that social distancing, masks and hand regular hand washing as a crucial method to keeping safe.

Are you arriving using Newquay Airport for your holiday in Cornwall? Many flights arrive on Sunday, please bare in mind that Sorgente has check-in and check-out on Fridays, we may sometimes consider other days but usually this would require either check-in OR check-out to fall on a Friday. Please ask before booking.

Visit by 2 senior citizens
We felt very comfortable in this lovely cottage. It is very light and the small garden area must be a bonus in warmer weather. Penryn is a very interesting town ( quite hilly) and the bus service to many places in Cornwall is excellent. There are good local pubs.

About the host

Hosted by Alex

Host profile image
This is our main home when we return to Cornwall. We now spend most of our time in the Italian Alps but return to Cornwall as much as we can. Our little boys are growing fast and the beaches in Cornwall are so much better than in Italy... yes really!

Why they chose this property

On the main route (fast road or country lanes) between Falmouth and Truro. Close enough to Falmouth without having the bother with traffic, and easy to go further afield, the Lizard peninsula is very accessible. Eyns botanical gardens is only a walk away up the hill.

What makes this property unique

Ultra clean, and with a heat recovery system, both of which help us provide a place suitable for those with air-borne allergies and asthma. Also, you'll not find many cottages in the area which have a bidet and rain shower in a luxurious bathroom.
