Great communication with owner. Clean, cosy cottage with everything we needed. The setting is so pretty. Dog walks on river on your doorstep. Pub food was delicious, as was the breakfast at the cafe. Will definitely be back.
A lovely clean and well equipped cottage on a relatively quiet road and central for exploring the Northumbrian coastal towns & footpaths.Excellent set up with the host, their little website (didn't need to use their app), and the coded front door unlock/lock.I've knocked a star off purely because: yes, it's a character cottage; but, apart from the fancy door lock & the bed linen, the word luxury doesn't fit. I would better describe it as a rustic character cottage.I still highly recommend it.I highly recommend both the Running Fox for breakfast in the village and the Fish Shack in Amble, too.
It was a lovely place and we enjoyed our stay. Sadly, there was no return communication from the host at any time, hence the 4 and not the desired 5 star rating. The place could do with a coffee machine but that did not spoil it as the coffee shop was across the bridge.
Situated on the banks of the River Coquet this is a charming, cosy and snug little cottage with every facility you need. Warmly lit with fairy lights to welcome you, there’s a superbly generous welcome hamper from the nearby Running Fox cafe, thoughtfully catering for dietary needs. The village is quiet and peaceful, with nearby parking easily sought. Close to the A1 it is easy to reach most places along the coastline. Book a boat trip to the Farnes and Holy Island for a sure highlight. Directly on the St Oswald’s Way straight from the door, there are plenty of Northumbrian walking destinations for all abilities and an abundance of stunning beaches and castles for those scenic days out. The upmarket Northumberland Arms along from the cottage serves quality food in stylish surroundings and only a little further afield in nearby Shilbottle, the Lal Khazana will easily satisfy every Indian food lover. Or try the Fish Shack in Amble for a quayside fresh fish menu. There are so many things to see and do you wouldn’t hesitate to book another stay. An excellent choice all round, thank you to the host Andrew for a very comfortable week.
Blissful week in gorgeous cottage in hidden gem of a village, friendly locals, great cafe, bar and pub nearby and magical wildlife on the river great stay will revisit asap

Lovely stay and a great base from which to explore the surrounding area
We really enjoyed our stay at riverside cottage. It is very well equipped, we appreciated the baby gate and highchair. The kitchen has everything you need to make dinner in the evening. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch. The village itself is quiet, there is a nice pub a few doors down from the cottage where we enjoyed a nice lunch.

Lovely small terraced house in a quiet village overlooking the river
The house is really lovely. It is in a small village, 9 miles north of Morpeth (we had thought it was in Morpeth itself). Well-furnished, with a lovely open fire, and central heating. All mod-cons in kitchen, you will want for nil. Modern microwave and cooker. Lots of cutlery and glasses etc. TVs in all bedrooms, nice size rooms, and also nice beds and sheets. Nice decorative touches, so very homely. Great Wi-Fi, and TV in lounge had an in-built DVD player. Lots of wardrobe space, hangers provided. Nice lamps everywhere. Carpeted from stairs upwards, wood downstairs. Dog towels are left out, so clearly good if you have dogs! Dining room is really warm and cosy - upstairs is cooler. Parking easy on the street. Combination lock affords easy entry, no keys to lose!
The village itself had not much to do. The river walk is not that special, though will probably suit dog walkers, though be wary of the trail motorcycle bikers. The village bridges are pretty, there is a small shop there. The pub we didn't visit, but looks popular, very busy on Sunday lunch as judged by the amount of cars parked on the road outside, and the welcome basket from the deli across the river by the owners [a steak pie, and a veggie one, plus some bread and cakes] is amazing - however, we went for breakfast and it was fully booked, so be warned. So you will probably have to drive everywhere, which is no issue, as it is so close to the A1, that we saw everything from Berwick-upon-Tweed/Lindisfarne, to Newcastle/Gateshead, to Hadrian's Wall. Rothbury was a pleasant surprise, non-touristy lovely small town/large village - the Simonside hills nearby are great for walking, a great walking route by the car park there. Morpeth was a bit of a let-down for us compared to some of the other towns we saw, such as Warkworth, so glad in a way the house was not in Morpeth! There is amazingly a bus route outside the house on the main road that goes through the village that goes to Newcastle and Berwick and many other places if you don't fancy driving. There is too much to do in the area for a week, we are going to come back to the area next year!
The owners were very communicative and helpful, made you feel at home, though of course you don't meet them. A real pleasure to stay here, we felt instantly restful when we walked in! Thanks!

A wonderful cottage in a stunning setting.
Riverside Cottage was a lovely base from which to unwind and enjoy all that the beautiful Northumberland coast has to offer. It is beautifully decorated and equipped to a high standard with literally everything you could want for a comfortable break. The bedrooms especially provide a luxurious treat with tasteful decoration and wonderfully comfortable beds. We appreciated the lovely welcome pack stocked with goods from the local deli. Our dog Finn had a lovely week and we know he appreciated all the little dog friendly touches in the cottage to make him welcome too!

A Charming, Cosy, Comfortable Cottage
Riverside Cottage is absolutely delightful, as is the village of Felton itself. We arrived on Friday 23rd December and stayed until Tuesday 3rd January 2017. The cottage is very well equipped, very cosy and comfortable. The Welcome pack from the Running Fox was a delightful surprise as was the Christmas tree and lights. Very thoughtful indeed. The local area is excellent for dog walking, both within Felton and also a short drive away to the beaches at Amble, Alnmouth, Beadnell and Bamburgh. The quality of catering from the Running Fox and the Northumberland Arms is superb. The Northumberland Arms is also dog-friendly and we were able to take our pets with us every time that we dined out there. We fell in love with the local area and look forward to returning sometime this year.
