The best location with everything walking distance from our stay. Martin was very helpful who made a list of restaurants and places to try and all where good as the next.
Definitely will stay again and recommend to others.
My wife and I were pleasantly surprised at the accommodation. The location and view couldn't have been any better and being situated in the Grass Market with all its conveniences was perfect.

Just as cozy as can be with an OUTSTANDING view!
This place has everything you need to enjoy your stay in Edinburgh ... least of all a view of the castle that just won't quit, and a location in the heart of Edinburgh that can't be beat! Easy walk to train station, or just a £6.00 cab fare if your loaded down with luggage as I was. Even still, if you want some good cardio to and from ... just walk it with your bags.
A fresh coat of paint and some new carpet would go a long way to cover the tracks of what must be a never ending in-and-out of travelers, but for the price and location, this place has everything! Plus ... you get the spiral staircase which is a novelty in and of itself.
One thing Martin and Ewan ... what's happening with the landing at the bottom of the stairs? It felt as if it might give way with the next footfall to be put upon it. Just curious.
P.S. I signed the guest book. Check it out and let me know what you think???

dank and musty
Apartment is in a excellent location being close to the castle. The building is on a slope and this apartment is on the bottom. For whatever reason the apartment is dank and musty. The bedroom is on the bottom level. The bedroom window doesn't open. Even if it did, it would open on to a construction site. Perhaps in mid summer the apartment would be pleasant, but for the rest of the year, no way.

Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy this apartment. Because Edinburgh is very hilly, apartments are often built different levels, and this apartment opens at the back to King's Stables Lane. The main entrance is via Webster's Land because this goes into the living area on the upper level, with the bedroom/bathroom at the lower level. We would have been happy to advise about the back door in order to air the apartment for you. There are currently (autumn 2018) new buildings being constructed in the next block. Edinburgh carefully controls building works in the historical Old Town so that there is noise only during working hours. The new buildings at King's Stables Road will offer enhanced restaurant, cafe, etc facilities in this Grassmarket area.

What a great oasis from the bustle of Grassmarket.
We were very comfortable in this delightful flat. The dining table was great to spread out on and plan our next adventure. The location was perfect for heading to the University, The Royal Mile, and everything in between. Even the YumYum take away across the street served us well. We enjoyed two concerts happening at the castle, hearing the music waft down to us. The courtyard allowed my husband to step out and assess the weather easily. We took advantage of the washer, even the fold out for one night to relax to a movie. We enjoyed the privacy and we felt safe there. Great space, thank you for a marvelous stay!

Perfect for our long weekend away.
We found the property fine. With the directions given by Martin and checking on Google Maps we knew just where to go. The apartment was even better than the photos gave it credit for. It was clean and had plenty of room for the 2 of us. The view of the castle from the living room and kitchen was a plus as well. We had everything we needed, one night the storage heater was chilly, but there was a massive blanket that we snuggled up in. It was a lovely place to return to of an evening.
We were central to Old Town and about a 10 minute walk from New Town. There were plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, The Hanging Bat, Innis and Gunn Beer Kitchen, Brewdog, Dirty Dick's and Wings were our favourites. We're fans of real ale and none of these establishments let us down.
Our holiday combined celebrating my husbands birthday with visiting a different Christmas market to our usual back home in Manchester. We spent a lovely day walking round the market and New Town bars, another day at Edinburgh Zoo, well worth a visit and a morning walking up Arthur's Seat and then visiting some pubs along the Royal mile. We can honestly say we had our best ever long weekend away together. The accommodation and Edinburgh were fabulous and we would love to revisit one day. We have recommended the property to all our friends, sharing a link to the property on Facebook. It was excellent value and a superb location and my correspondence with Martin the owner was always polite, accommodating and helpful.

Great location, lovely stay!
This is a lovely apartment in a brilliant location, right under the castle and only a few minutes walk from everything in central Edinburgh. At the same time as being so central, it's lovely and quiet, and tucked away so no traffic noise. Very comfortable place to stay, warm and cosy and just perfect for a getaway in this beautiful city. Complimentary coffee, biscuits and even a bottle of wine in the fridge too, very thoughtful! There's a Sainsbury supermarket on the next road junction up the hill, and a load of bars and restaurants on Grassmarket on the next junction down the hill, so whether you're eating in or out you couldn't ask for a better location to stay. I will definitely be back!
