Fantastic barn conversion near Cordes sur Ciel with 4 bedrooms and pool
On the edge of a picturesque village, this stunning former barn retains lots of original features yet provides modern accommodation and furniture. There is 1 double and 1 twin bedroom on the ground floor with a shared bathroom, and a twin and double bedroom, both ensuite, on the first floor. The large dining kitchen is on the ground floor and huge sitting room on the first floor has great views.
Outside there are several terraces with views over the surrounding countryside. The terrace outside the kitchen has magnificent views to the Pyrenees.
Beside this terrace is a covered area in case of bad weather and this also houses a table-tennis table and WII to keep the children amused.
At the back of the gite is the fully enclosed 10 x 5 pool which again has great views over rolling fields, and a set of swings and chute for infants.
The large garden has fig, cherry, plums, walnuts and almonds so depending on the time of year you choose to come, you can pick fresh fruit.
There are lots of walks around the village and the nearest vineyard is just 20 minutes walk across the fields and vineyards. It produces a great range of wines and welcomes visitors for tasting.
We are surrounded by stunning medieval villages - Cordes, Castelnau, Puycelsi, Penne, Bruniquel... and only 30 minutes from the world heritage city of Albi.

Beautiful property in a stunning location with a good sized pool. There are lots of local walks as well as medieval villages and vineyards to visit. The hosts were very helpful and lots of information about the area.
Fantastic location, off the beaten track, no streetlights at night, just the stars, views and wildlife. Four excellent sized bedrooms, big bathrooms. Kitchen, well fitted out and a big dining table if not eating outside. Really clean, and welcoming.Huge living room upstairs, big sofas, and amazing high ceiling with original beams.Pool is excellent, a great space to relax, tan and swim and large gardens to explore, full of wildlife. The figs were in season when we were there and it's absolute luxury to pick one and eat it. Also walnut, almond, plum and cherry trees as well. The best thing, the hosts. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, great recommendations for food or markets. Really made you feel special.
Endroit parfait, spacieux à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur. Superbe vue, piscine extra. Coin ping pong.

Highly recommended
Just as described. We found nothing wanting at the property and the owners, Colin & Janet, were on hand if needed but also discrete and low-key. A lovely area to visit and the house and pool were just right for afternoon relaxing. We will visit again for sure.
Thanks very much to Colin and Janet for a wonderful stay at your property. Everything was fantastic and any tiny hiccups were resolved straight away. The property was brilliant for our group, 6 adults and a 6 month old baby. We’d recommend this to any large group wanting to stay in an idyllic area of the French countryside. Thanks again, Paul, Adele and the rest

Beautifully restored barn, fabulous surroundings, great hosts. Perfect!
It's a beautifully converted beam with lots of original features. Beds were really comfortable (a huge plus, we all slept magnificently). Lots of cute features such as a library of books and dvds. The pool is perfect. Great size and shallow enough for adults to stand up to their chest in, which is great for swimming and playing dumb team ball games alike. There was absolutely nothing that I could add that this property is missing, it was just perfect.

Paradise!!!
The property has been converted to a very high standard and great care has been taken to preserve features and the "feel" of the barn conversion. The situation is idillic and peaceful but with amenities close to hand. The owners were happy to share their local knowledge and advice when asked but do not intrude on your holiday. Overall a brilliant place to stay.

Superb
Fantastic gite in an ideal location for a quiet relaxing holiday. The gite was very well equipped and Jan and Colin were excellent hosts. Close to a host of medieval villages and hour's drive to Toulouse. Cahors is also well worth a visit, which is easily reachable from the gite.

About the host
Hosted by Janet Shand
We are a laid-back Scottish couple who have taken early retirement to live our dream. Keen on the outdoor life, we love walking around the fantastic countryside surrounding our home.
Why they chose this property
Looking for a view and we found one - down a small valley to the Hilltop village of Castelnau de Montmiral, and on crisp days the Pyrenees reaching up behind over 100 miles away, vineyards, sunflowers....
What makes this property unique
We are on the edge of one of the most beautiful and well-maintained villages in the area, only 10 minutes from the medieval charm of Cordes sur Ciel and Castelnau de Montmiral. Albi is less than 30 minutes and Toulouse less than an hour. Walk through the vineyards to our local vineyard to taste the less known Gaillac appellation wine.
