Lovely quiet house in top Burgundy village

We spent 10 days in the cottage attached to the Domaine Buffett. Charlotte and her family was always on hand to help and gave advise on restaurants and anything else we needed help with! Lovely stay amongst the premier cru vines. Shopped in both Beaune and the Chagny which have all you want. Particularly liked Chagny with some great food shops.

Lovely house and lovely host

House is beautiful. Host is helpful and kind. Wine cellar is right next door for you to enjoy a beautiful tasting. Wifi is slow and unreliable. However, you should be visiting here to disconnect, not to work.

What a LOVELY stay!

Please excuse me writing in English! What a beautiful place to stay. The gite is itself is a handsome building, pleasantly decorated, with everything you need for a self-catering stay. It's quite large, with a charming garden in which to relax, and with a lovely vineyard view from one of the bedrooms! Volnay is a beautiful, tranquil village, and the gite is in the heart of it - perfect for those looking for a quiet retreat in a beautiful region of France, and as a base for wine lovers (as I did with a friend of mine)! Charlotte and her family were very helpful - nothing was too much trouble - and we enjoyed a wonderful wine tasting with Charlotte's husband. Very highly recommended.

A lovely gem in the middle of the vines

Our family of four had the pleasure of staying in Charlotte's lovely gite set amid the vines in the charming village of Volnay. Everything about the home was first rate, including the comfy beds. I think we most enjoyed having our breakfast and dinner each night on the lovely terrace just outside our front door. From there we could hear the doves cooing, the church bell tolling melodiously, and the cicadas and other creatures making their pleasant sounds. It was restful and serene. The location is terrific for exploring wine country, and is within easy distance of Beaune for shopping and dining. We would definitely stay at Charlotte's house again if we have the fortune of returning to Burgandy. She was so friendly and helpful, and speaks lovely English.

Lovely cottage in a great location!

We really enjoyed our stay in Volnay. Charlotte is a wonderful host - she even went to the trouble of meeting me at a local pharmacy to help me out when I had a minor emergency (thanks again, Charlotte!) - and is readily available with travel advice for those who request it. We were traveling with two small children and this place is great for kids. There are toys and books in the top floor tv room (which could easily serve as a fourth bedroom if needed - it has a separate door to the hallway). The garden is very nice, and quite private. Volnay is a great location for exploring the area. A bike/walking path runs through the village; Pommard is only a 5-7 minutes or so walk away, and there are restaurants and a bakery there. (Volnay is smaller, with no real shopping - though there are one or two restaurants.) Beaune is a short drive, and it is possible to walk there (or easily bike) - it took us a little over an hour to walk using the bike paths through the vineyards. Very relaxing place!

Charlotte est très accueillante et le gîte correspond parfaitement à l’annonce. L’environnement est très calme et agréable. Charlotte nous a proposé une visite de son caveau, c’était passionnant, nous avons passé un super week-end entre amis à Volnay! L’emplacement du gîte est idéal pour visiter la région, nous recommandons vivement la maison de Charlotte!

Notre séjour à Volnay Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à Volnay, une très belle commune, à proximité de la magnifique ville de Beaune et de son célèbre hospice.Nous étions un petit groupe de 7 personnes et avons été ravis de notre hébergement au gîte de Charlotte.Le logement est très agréable, confortable et parfaitement propre. Charlotte nous a également fait profiter d’une superbe visite de sa propriété viticole, avec dégustation d’excellents crus de Bourgogne — un moment à la fois convivial et chaleureux que nous garderons en mémoire.C’est sans hésiter que nous reviendrons si l’occasion se présente.Merci encore à Charlotte pour son accueil et sa gentillesse !

Leuk huisje , maar minder tijdens een hittegolf

Leuk vakantie huisje , inventaris prima , netjes . Vriendelijke ontvangst. Wij waren er tijdens een hittegolf. Huisje en tuin niet bepaald hitteproef. Temperatuur op slaapkamers erg hoog ondanks dichthouden van ramen en luiken overdag en s nachts ventileren. Tuin is ingebouwd en veel steen/kiezels waardoor het snel opwarmt. Tweede verdieping en wc beneden niet geschikt voor lange mensen.

Une semaine agreable a Beaune

Tres bonne vacances avec de nombreux sujets de distractions (velo, baignade, tennis etc..) et region culturellement et gastronomiquement tres riche. Gite agreable et tres bien situe. Petit bemol :au 2 eme etage par temps tres chaud, mettre une clim ou refaire l isolation. Pour les chambres du 1er pas besoin de clim.

Why they chose this property

The Buffet family, winemakers in the village of Volnay from generation to generation since the end of the 18th century, proudly continues to pass on their savoir-faire for wine-making. This house, which I have recently converted into a rental home, has been part of the wine-making domaine (www.bourgogne-buffet.com) since its creation and used to be home to the vineyard field workers. Originally from Paris, Burgundy has been my home ever since marrying a Burgundian. Over the years I have learned to understand and appreciate the delicate and fine wines of the region, the incredible "terroir", and the rich history of Beaune and the Dukes of Burgundy.
