About this property

Renovated 1940's Cabin Located in a Peaceful Grand Lake Village Location

Must see! This adorable, knotty pine one-bedroom cabin is located within walking distance of downtown, Grand Lake, and RMNP.
This 1940's cabin is loaded with historic character and located on a peaceful, aspen-filled lot within Grand Lake village. This quaint cabin has been renovated with fresh pine, but it's historic integrity has been maintained. (Please note that, because the integrity has been maintained, the doorways and beams are low for people approximately 6 feet tall and taller.) This charming cabin has a queen-size
bed, separate living and kitchen areas, bath, cozy gas fireplace, and cable television. Gas stove and microwave available. Charcoal grill, fire pit, and sitting area located outside. Use the coffee-maker in the morning, or wander downtown to one of the local lake-side coffee shops. Perhaps just lounge in the outside seating area and watch for wildlife to wander through the area. **(Please note that the mountains are a host to MANY types of wildlife. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, unwanted wildlife such as chipmunks or mice can sometimes find their way into mountain cabins. If you are uncomfortable with this possibility, this vacation choice may not be the best for you.) This cabin's charm, quiet environment, and walking-distance proximity to town, the lake, and the Rocky Mountain National Park trailheads make it an easy choice for a vacation stay.

This cabin is held to a higher safety standard than cabins located outside of the village. It is inspected annually by the Grand Lake fire department.

Do you have family/friends who are also planning to vacation? We have two nearby charming cabins. (listing numbers 611187 and 899178).

Wonderful getaway

Great cozy little cabin in Grand Lake. Close access to lots of hiking and downtown. The fireplace was a perfect spot to warm up with some board games after cold snowy mornings of hiking.

Wonderful cottage in the mountains!

We had a very nice stay! We were near so much to enjoy each day. Hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park, fishing, and the shops in the cute little town of Grand Lake. The cottage was clean and charming and perfect for the two of us!! We even had the company of three mule deer in the front yard. Amazing scenery as well!!

Quaint Homestead

We really enjoyed our stay in the cabin. All the comforts of home and within walking distance of Grand Lakes restaurants and downtown. The shower is cutely tiny but kicks butt! Enjoyed the BBQ grill and the firepit in the evenings despite the mosquitos. Caution tall people: the door frames and beams are right at 6 feet but we didn't have any issues.

Cute/Rustic Cabin close to Grand Avenue

Check in was a breeze, Rebekah provided detailed directions and Instructions. The cabin was cute and rustic with all the modern conveniences needed. Loved the hot water pressure, even though the shower is quite small. The bed was so comfortable and sleeping with the windows open was great. Walking distance to the lake and Grand Avenue. Great hiking close by but with a dog you can't go into RMNP but many other dog friendly hikes. Everyone in town was so friendly and The Hub opens early for coffee and breakfast so that was a great ritual and then a walk to the beach. Highly recommend.

callahan stay

could use more light in kitchen. lightbulb burned out in bedroom. could use entry cover over front steps and porch to assist with snow cover. could use railing on front steps to assist with steps entry, as one of us uses a cane and steps were snow covered and slick. loved the ambiance....thank you! A wonderful stay for us.

Darling!

This is a darling, quaint little cabin to stay in and within walking distance of the town. Very peaceful and comfortable place to stay! A couple of things to note: The doorways and beams hang fairly low. I'm only 5'3" and had no problems whatsoever, but my companion is 6'3" and hit his head a couple of times. Also, the bathtub/shower area is extremely tiny. Lastly, if you use a hair dryer or curling iron, I would recommend you bring a short extension cord. All in all, had a fabulous time.

Cute and clean, not a great location

This property is located off of a very loud, busy street, so for that reason we would not book it again. Couldn't leave the windows open for fresh air at night due to the traffic noise. Outdoor seating was not an option, due to weeds and dirty furniture. Sorry, but this was our experience.

10 Point Deer!

On the last day of our stay, I went to see the Troublesome Fire Museum (a must see to understand what the community went through) and left the hubby at the cabin with the pups. I sent him a text to see how things were going and he said he had been taking pictures for the last two hours. A deer had nested in the back yard for the day! The deer wasn't even bothered by our dogs in the cabin. This was a highlight for my husband as he is a huge nature fan. The cabin was cute and cozy and had everything we needed for 4 nights. Grand Lake is amazing. It's great being on this side of the RMNP with all the moose and elk. The first evening we saw a herd of more than 100 elk navigate through the valley just inside the park gate. We also saw a lot of moose moms with their new babies. The drive to Estes Park was amazing! We ended up doing the circle tour through Nederland, Black Hawk, Winter Park, such a beautiful drive if you have the time. The amphicar ride on the lake with Mitch is a great experience. He has so many great stories to share from his 21 years in Grand Lake. Also, the Kaufman House Museum is very good. Ordered takeout from The Historic Rapids Lodge and Restaurant - expensive but the lamb was delicious!

This is a great little rustic cabin, really perfect for two and of course, our little French Bulldog. It's walking distance to shops and restaurants and Grand Lake. Very clean. Check in very easy. Our whole stay was enjoyable. We enjoyed our fire circle at night. Was quiet and quaint. I would definitely rent again for another mountain retreat.

Adorable property

We loved staying at this quaint little house. It's nestled in the trees so it feels private, and it's an easy to walk to the lake town. Taller people (6 feet) might struggle with the ceiling height/shower size, but you also might find that a few head bumps are worth it to stay in this cute spot!

Host profile image
We (Dan and Rebekah) were raised in the Kansas flatlands, but we each vacationed in Colorado while growing up. We finally made the leap to the high country 6 years ago, and we have taken full advantage of this giant playground ever since our move.
Dan and Rebekah currently live in Windsor, located in northeast Colorado. Dan works in the medical field, and Rebekah retired from employment with this health system two years ago. She currently enjoys her work with a number of civic organizations, as
well as master gardening, welding, and other hobbies.
Dan and Rebekah enjoy every aspect of this wonderful Colorado environment. They are avid fly-fishermen, hunters, hikers, and general outdoorsmen.
The couple enjoys a sizable amount of time in the mountains. Dan completed his due-diligence in investigating options for a mountain home. We wanted a location that would appeal to all ages, all year round, and we wanted activities that involved mountains, water, wildlife, and a community atmosphere. After looking at dozens of options, we found that Grand Lake met all of our needs.

Why they chose this property

We spend a sizable amount of time in the mountains. Dan completed his due-diligence in investigating options for a mountain home. We wanted a location that would appeal to all ages, all year round, and we wanted activities that involved mountains, water, wildlife, and a community. We have several children, and this location and property provides a central location for family members to walk or ride bikes to nearly every amenity within Grand Lake.

What makes this property unique

One look at this rustic cabin would help anyone understand why we purchased this home. It is nestled within aspen trees in a peaceful neighborhood - and it is within walking distance of downtown, Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park.
The interesting and charming aspects of this 1940s cabin have been maintained, including original beams and interior log siding. Enjoy the sliding interior barn doors. The recent renovations of the cabin were truly a labor of love - it is adorable.
We purchased this cabin, as well as the cabin next door, as they belonged together in a 'Jack and Jill' cottage setting. If you have additional friends or family, consider renting both cabins!
