About this property
Candlelight Cottage, Litton. Superb walks and excellent pub. 5 star GOLD luxury.
A Wonderful Place to Unwind: Imagine a place where you are welcomed by the warmth of an AGA stove, where at the end of a long day, you can unwind on soft leather sofas in a romantic, oak-beamed sitting room and enjoy all the home comforts and modern conveniences you would expect and more.
Candlelight Cottage is that place! Our spacious cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms, (1 double and 1 twin) and has been rated 5 star Gold by Visit England. We have received the AA Covid 19 confident award and the Visit England "We're Good to Go" award, given to businesses which are fulfilling all the Government Covid 19 safety and cleaning guidelines and are working to best practice.
Original Features Combined with Modern Luxury: The warm and spacious oak beamed sitting room is designed for relaxation with its Chinese prints, soft leather sofas, feature stone fireplace and fine views of Litton village green. Well Equipped Kitchen: The sunny, south facing dining kitchen is fully equipped with ceramic hob, double oven, microwave, AGA, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. The pine shutters, slate tiled floor and AGA stove lend character to the kitchen, making it the ideal place to cook, dine and chat.
Stairs lead up from the kitchen to the bathroom and two bedrooms.
A Good Night's Sleep in Guaranteed! The quality of our beds and little touches such as black out linings on the curtains ensure our guests get an excellent night’s sleep. The double bedroom faces south and looks out over the patio garden and fields beyond. The twin bedded room enjoys views of Litton village green and Litton Edge, one of several walks from the door of the cottage. The village green is planted with spring bulbs. In May, the view is filled with cherry blossom and at Christmas, we look out at the village Christmas tree. Radio alarm clocks, hairdryers and shaver plugs are provided along with a choice of pillows, winter or summer weight duvets.
The bathroom is fully tiled and features a bath, separate shower cubicle, Edwardian style suite and heated towel rail.
A Great Place to Chill: A stable door leads from the kitchen out into a private and sun filled patio style garden. Garden furniture and a BBQ are provided in summer.
Stairs lead down from the kitchen to the utility/ boot room, housing the deep freeze and ideal for extra storage and drying wet clothing. A tumble drying service is also available.
At Candlelight Cottage we have tried to create a luxurious rural hideaway. Fabrics and furniture have been chosen to complement our Chinese and Thai silk pictures, giving each room a charm of its own.
The house is fully centrally heated and hot water is available at all times. All windows have double glazing. Heat sensors, smoke alarms and CO alarms are fitted for your safety and peace of mind.
PLEASE NOTE: WEEKLY BOOKINGS: FRIDAY - FRIDAY ONLY SHORT BREAKS: (MON - FRI) OR (FRI - MON)
For the comfort of all our guests, we operate a strict NO SMOKING and NO PETS policy. Please be aware that, as in many other old properties, Candlelight Cottage has relatively steep stairs and some low beams. We regret that we cannot accommodate children under the age of 8 years.
Fancy Spending Christmas or New Year at Candlelight Cottage?
There is so much going on in the Peak District before Christmas. Many Christmas markets take place in local towns and specialist shops in Bakewell, Ashbourne and Buxton are ideal places to find unusual presents.
Every year, Chatsworth House’s decorations sre spectacular and after your visit, you can get into the festive spirit by sipping mulled wine and listening to brass bands and carol singers. Why not go carol singing down one of Castleton’s caves, visit a pantomime, attend a carol concert or book a Santa Special on Peak Rail or Crich Tramway?.
Christmas in Litton has a Christmas card charm of its own, especially under a dusting of snow. The village Christmas tree stands just opposite Candlelight Cottage and on Christmas Eve, everyone gathers around it to sing carols.
Candlelight Cottage is decorated for Christmas from the beginning of December and short breaks are available until Christmas week. Often December guests come to celebrate Christmas early; others come away over Christmas itself to experience a special Peak District Christmas.
What better feeling than returning to the wonderful warmth of the Candlelight Cottage AGA or curling up in front of the stove with a glass of mulled wine and warm mince pie? Come and experience the magic of a Peak District Christmas for yourself!
And what about New Year's Eve? The Red Lion pub in Litton holds special New Year’s Eve dinners each year and there is of course lots more going on ... ... If you're thinking of coming for Christmas or New Year, please contact us.
