There is lots to do in Whitby.

Whilst in Whitby you have to try the world famous fish and chips available from numerous cafes on the sea front. Whitby was the inspiration for Bram Stoker's novel Dracula which he wrote whilst staying at Whitby. On the hill there is the historic ruins of Whitby Abbey which was the inspiration for Carthax Abbey in Dracula. Whitby also has a sea faring history being the home of Captain Cook which there is a Captain Cook museum in which you can discover more about the legendary sea farer. At high season there is August Whitby Regatta when you can see some amazing ships and boats. At the life boat museum you can find about the various daring rescues performed by the Whitby lifeguards over the many years.

If music is your thing then Whitby is the place for you hosting the world famous Whitby Goth Weekend twice a year, the 1960s weekend, the Folk Festival, Jazz and Soul Festival plus you also get to hear music and see films at the Bram Stokers International Film Festival at Whitby.

All in all your stay at Wildgoose Cottage will be fun, memorable and one that will stay in your hearts and minds forever.

Fantastic cottage - ideal location for walking
Stayed last October and we’ve already rebooked for March 2024. The property is superb, in a beautiful location for a relaxing getaway. For colder months there’s a lovely log burner and the heating system keeps you warm whatever the weather. Our first stay was at a time when there were 50-70mph winds and rain, once in the cottage you’d never know, it felt so secure and warm. On sunnier days there’s a great small patio on which to relax with a lovely view towards the sea. You can walk into Whitby in around 30 minutes, an easy walk if you are reasonably fit. I’m fussy as to where I park my car, the car space is next to the cottage, surrounded only by nature. We are fairly tall and the ceiling upstairs is sloping so a few bumped heads but you soon get used to it, a small price to pay for such a great location and property. In our view it’s just perfect.

Beautiful peaceful isolation.
Just what we needed, a beautiful quiet place where we could park up and walk. Walked to Robin Hoods Bay on day then upto Sandsend another. Beautiful hideaway which had everything we needed, warm and clean, with views of the sea. We will certainly be visiting again if we can find some time. Thank you.
