The Lemon Tree Terrace - surrounded by the biggest ancient city center worldwide
Dear guests,
We would be delighted if you decide to stay in this home which enabled us to unravel many of the secrets of this city founded by the Greek in 6th Century BC. The specifics of the city are innumerable and breathtaking. By staying in what used to be the Jewish quarter in the early Middle Ages, you can easily get to see a fair share of it.
Our apartment is gay friendly and very quiet. It is at the top of a typical building of the quartiere, reached by several flights of steps. It is basic, but complete, a little quirky and idiosyncratic in style. You will probably get the impression of being on a ship anchored in a very exciting scenery. The flat can be furnished to meet specific needs too: there are two fireplaces, hammocks can be put up on the terraces and it is also ideal for model photo shoots!. You will be welcomed by Laura and Alessandro, who will be able to answer any queries and provide you with up to date information.
The kitchen is well planned and very well furnished, decorated with Vietri majolica. While sitting on the terrace, with the orange and lemon trees nearby, in summer you can smell the rosemary and lavender plants and the jasmine flowers. Otherwise, just gaze at the nearby façade of the Cathedral or let yourself be distracted by the street life unravelling at your feet, by glancing down from the different balconies. To tell the truth: Naples is a place of rebirth! There are many shops, bars, boutiques, pizzerias and excellent restaurants all around the neighbourhood. The apartment is at a short walking distance from the different metro lines which will bring you to Pozzuoli, the harbour and the train station, and from there on to Pompeii, the Vesuvius and Herculaneum. Ferries which will shuttle you to Capri, Ischia and Procida are easily reached by strolling down through the ancient city centre. There are many staggering churches nearby and also some quality museums: the National Archaeological museum (recently renovated), the Madre collection, Donnaregina Vecchia (with frescos by Giotto) and Capodimonte Gallery.
Finally, the beach with gazing azure water is just half an hour away.. any hesitation still?

About the host
Hosted by Salvatore Castaldo
I grew up in Oxford, travelled to the Middle-East a lot and got married with a Dutchman. We used the flat in Napels when I myself, my son or other family members were there for work and research.
Why they chose this property
On the contrary to many other European cities which have lost their authenticity in the last decades, Napels has shown itself very resilient to change. Fortunately in the last years, life in the city has hugely improved for visitors and tourists: we are seen as guests of honour these days. As Istanbul, Napels lies on the frontier of the West, by walking around you will catch glimpse of stones carved millennia ago. Significantly, the apartment is situated on the junction between the typical lively Neapolitan neighbourhoods and the more solemn monument rich ducumani area. Ideally, from out this location you can experience both thus, and visit the remanences of the ancient city under the surface (Napoli sotterranea) moreover!
What makes this property unique
It's like feeling you are living in a villa, while in fact you are staying at the heart of the largest ancient city centre of the world! This is quite remarkable.
