We had a great time here. The property is fascinating and our hosts, John and Kirk, were there if we needed them and invisible when we didn't. They were both charming and made our stay the best. Highest recommendation.
Note To K & J: We're so sorry for not posting this early on. It was a simple case of "I thought you posted the review?" , "But I thought you posted the review!!??" You guys were super and we loved staying with you. Your community and state were beautiful.

Unique locale with fantastic proximity to Wolfeboro
What a unique property with such warm hosts!! John made sure to give us a tour when we arrived as well as greeted us with a bottle of our favorite wine. The collection of antiques and the careful placement of each item makes you want to sit and soak in each corner and angle of every room! The renovation of this little church is so well done. The result is a very homey feeling.
It is also tripping distance to the Wolfeboro town docks, shops and restaurants. We didn't drive our car the entire weekend.
We look forward to staying again!!
John was our contact. Very responsive and proactive in anticipating our needs. The place had everything and every time I sat down I used a different chair and had a different perspective to enjoy. Loved the gourmet kitchen. Even had a small deck which was a nice surprise. A great experience! Thanks!!!
I will definitely come back. Kirk and John instantly became my new friends. The kitchen has everything you need which I took full advantage of as I’m still not eating in restaurants. The location is perfect to stroll down to the town docks and watch people coming and going to get ice cream every night.
We loved our stay with John and Kirk, who welcomed us into their unique home (with a chilled bottle of Prosecco) and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. They happily gave us excellent recommendations for dining and recreation in the lovely Wolfeboro area. It was a wonderful escape for us; we loved the decor in the renovated church, and we would love to return someday.
**Make sure to visit Back Bay Vintage, their antique shop just down the road.
This converted church has been completely made over with great attention to detail. John and Kirk were excellent hosts and made the process very easy. The property is in walking distance to most anything in the town. Probably best for adults and couples. Highly recommend.
What a treat to stumble onto this treasure. Walking distance to the bay, and views out to Lake Winnipesaukee, shopping, restaurants, any water activity rental you can think of. Or drive to the numerous towns on the Lake. Hiking trails and beaches at every turn. The church is simply stunning with a different look at anytime of the day (stainglass everywhere). So relaxed!!
Extremely charming property and delightful owner! Perfectly located.
Only concern was my suite door handle locked but the door still opened so my belongings were not secure from other guests staying there.
We were more than pleased with the property and the owners. Wonderfully decorated and maintained. Very comfortable and quiet, and close to everything Wolfeboro had to offer.

This was a cool place that was walking distance into the town. The hosts were very gracious and had the place very clean and ready for us to stay in. The kitchen has everything you might need to cook a meal and stay in for the night. Definitely would recommend this.

John and Kirk were the best hosts. We would visit them again in a heartbeat. Church is awesome.
One of the best private stays nestled in a quiet neighborhiod. Walking distance from wolfboro town and access to quaint town shopping and food with lake views. The church has two bedrooms and a kitchen so it felt as if we rented a whole house.

Fantastic stay in the blue room at the church
We had a wonderful stay at the old church. The property owner John was incredibly friendly and creative. There were cookies and wine and cocktails waiting for us if we wanted it. We had a busy weekend but found time to just hang there as it was fun to walk around and admire the art and decorative items the owners had placed everywhere.

Clean, spacious and charming
John and Kirk were wonderful hosts. The property was clean and had all the items we needed for our stay including a full service Kitchen. The room was well air conditioned, we had wifi, and television. The property is just a short wall away from downtown Wolfeboro and a grocery store was close by. The cookies were spectacular and enjoyed having cocktails at the end of our busy day. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.

A Peaceful Find
The Old Church is fabulous to stay in: comfortable room with attention to detail. The décor of the church was interesting to meander through! The outdoor deck is a great place to relax and have meals and drinks. The kitchen was great to use for breakfast and lunch prep. John and puppies helped us out with any questions/requests we had. The property is truly 'park-your-car-and-walk'. We brought our bikes and in minutes were cycling through the trails or to the beach(fabulous - we went to several). We walked to dinner each night and had great meals in every(4) restaurant. We hit up the weekly Farmers' Market and luckily were there for a Craft show: both had great variety and unique finds!! The Boat Museum and Antique Wooden Boat ride were both great activities. We toured around the whole lake one day!! Lots to discover! We would return to Wolfboro with those fabulous mountains rising beyond the Lake W and the Old Church anytime.

About the host
Hosted by Kirk Gilmore & John Agostine
John and Kirk moved to Wolfeboro from Houston, TX. Talk about a pleasant culture shock! John is retired Guidance Counselor who currently spends his time creating unique, high quality, hand-crafted soaps, which he sells under the name Back Bay Soaps. When not creating his bejeweled soaps and hand-crafted bags, John spends most of his time waiting on Rocco and Lola, our spoiled and loving 3 year old Yorkie-Poos.
Kirk is a Corporate Controller for an international company and travels, often too much according to Lola! When home he plans elaborate annual parties, tends the flower beds, sells promotional products through GILCO Specialties, and decorates.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Wolfeboro the moment we drove down main street, captivated by the true New England charm of this sleepy little town. As far as the church, we both feel in love with it as soon as we opened the front door. The prior owner spent a lot of time and money transforming the bones of the building into a 5 BR, 4 bath residence--we simply took it to a higher level. We (Kirk) loves to throw parties, our 2nd Annual Christmas Party was attended by more than 225 people. We name the property "Celebrate on Union" with the intentions of one day being a small event center. The decorations are a unique and eclectic mix of antiques, modern shiny glass, oriental rugs and "things". We believe in of them. Each time you walk into a room you are likely to notice something that you did not notice before. And if you like Christmas, Celebrate on Union becomes a Christmas Wonderland with lavish decorations (and glitter) dripping from every surface! We love to entertain and share our space with both old and new friends. We look forward to getting to know you
What makes this property unique
Each of our rooms have a European style bath with an antique claw-footed tub, perfect for a relaxing soak. The wood ceiling in the bedrooms provide a warm welcome and the new Mitsubishi A/C & heating units ensure perfect sleeping comfort on the both days each year when the humidity is too high to sleep with the window open.
