Christmas 2023

Couldn't fault the property at all. New experience for us after the passing of my wife and family Christmas's for over 30 years. The owners have really put a lot of effort into making the property a really lovely experience. Their attention to detail with added extras for guests and their dogs was exceptional. Even a Christmas tree was provided. The location was great and the views from the rear of the property were unspoilt and something I will remember personally. I've enjoyed showing other family members the lovely pictures taken. Would definitely consider going again in the future.

Short stay chose because of hot tub and didn’t disappoint views beautiful we know littledean very sleepy quiet forest town we knew this so didnt mind Place is superbly designed has everything you need and great communication with owners

It's not Christmas, Christmas break

Planned early Christmas family get together. Kitchen very well equipped, warm and cosy property with great view over the valley. Our sons two dogs enjoyed the change, with plenty of space outside which would also be good for children.

I have lived in the Forest of Dean all my life. I am a wife and a mother to two boys.
We founded Willow Forest Stays this year (2021) but have been welcoming guests from all over the UK and beyond to Woodland Barn since 2011.

Why they chose this property

When we first saw Woodland Barn back in 2010 it had crumbling walls, broken windows, holes in the floor and climbing ivy everywhere. Originally it had been a stables and hayloft but even though it was very run down and in desperate need of renovation it had a unique charm and a friendly atmosphere and as James and I looked out at the stunning views one of us, we can't remember who, said " this would make a great holiday let" and so our journey into hospitality began.

What makes this property unique

Woodland Barn is all about the view. They are ever changing throughout the day depending upon the weather. There are days when frost is on the ground and the fields are a sea of white or when fog is hanging low in the valley, the sky is blue and sun shining and you feel you are on top of the world!
Evenings when the view is so clear that you can see the twinkling lights of Gloucester city. Days when you can (with the help of binoculars) watch the natural phenomenon that is the Severn Bore as it travels up the river from the private terrace. If you are very lucky when its warm and the weather is good you might even see the hot air balloons as they follow the bends in the River Severn travelling up from Bristol. Our guests often comment on the al fresco dining experience and the wonderful views.

Although located in a residential area Woodland Barn benefits from being off the main road. Close to the amenities in town yet far enough away for our guests to relax and unwind in comfort. Our guests often say that they feel Woodland Barn is well appointed and a good base from which to explore the surrounding area and feel that it's a home from home, somewhere cosy they can come back to after a day of exploration and discovery.

We are dog friendly. We have an enclosed garden and woodland walks just a few minutes away.
