About this property
Luxury couples gite near Aubeterre Sur Dronne, South West France
This luxury couples hideaway is close to Aubeterre Sur Dronne, one of France's most beautiful villages. Our one bedroomed gite with king size bed is tastefully furnished and has french doors leading out onto a private patio and sole use of a 10x5m swimming pool, both with stunning rural views. Perfect for couples looking for peace and quiet amidst glorious countryside but still close to many excellent restaurants and with plenty of local attractions and activities to enjoy nearby.
Our gite has been fitted out to the highest standard, with a french style to the furnishings and decoration. The Rococo inspired bedroom has a fabulously comfortable king-size bed and plenty of hanging and drawer space, plus an adjoining, characterful en-suite with large shower. In the cosy sitting area, there are two leather tub-chairs facing a wall-mounted flat screen smart TV with DVD player and Freeview box plus Netflix. The sitting and kitchen area is light, bright and sun-filled due to the double-width french doors which open directly out onto the private terrace. With a 'table for two' right outside, you can enjoy breakfast on those sunny mornings, or relax in the shade on the large cushioned sofa nestled amidst the honeysuckle and jasmine. The panoramic views are simply stunning and the sheltered, flower-filled courtyard is a real sun-trap. The 10x5m private pool is right next to the gite, and has a large decked area with sun-beds and parasols, plus another delightful eating area that makes the most of the amazing views.
We are situated at the end of a no-through road, which continues on to a green lane and offers lovely walks around the beautiful charente countryside. We are a stones throw from the rivers of La Brousse and La Dronne, which offer many river activities including organised canoe trips. The village of St Severin is a couple of minutes away by car and has all local amenities including two bars, two restaurants, a boulangerie, chemist and bank. Golf enthusiasts will love the 9-hole golf course at the nearby Manoir de Longeveau. The stunning, characterful village of Aubeterre Sur Dronne is just 5 minutes by car and has a choice of numerous excellent restaurants and a small Sunday Market. A little further afield is the bustling town of Riberac, whose Friday market is one of the best in the area, or in the opposite direction, the Chateau-topped town of Chalais has a busy Monday market. The fabulous cities of Perigueux, Angouleme and Bordeaux are all about an hours drive away, and the Gironde estuary and the coast no more than two hours.

About the host
Hosted by Fran Gleed
My husband Phil and I fell in love with this beautiful area of the Charente after many holidays spent travelling through France. Less tourist plagued than the neighbouring and better known Dordogne, and with some of the best weather in France outside of the Cote d'Azur, we think it is the undiscovered gem of the country. It's dotted with chateaux and medieval castles, stunning rolling countryside filled with sunflowers, quaint little towns and villages and their quintessentially French morning markets - and so many fabulous restaurants and cafes within a short drive that you could eat out at a different one every day for a year and still not have visited them all. We finally made the move to France in 2014 and spent the first 2 years renovating our house and gite, opening Les Cimes des Arbres for holiday rental in 2017. Since then, we are proud to say that we have been fully booked every season and enjoyed 5 star ratings on Trip Advisor and other review sites. We very much look forward to welcoming you to Les Cimes des Arbres, and hope that you will love the gite and the beautiful countryside that surrounds it as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
In the course of our travels through France before we moved here, we noticed there was a lack of quality accommodation for couples, especially any that offered a pool for our exclusive use (...and not shared with the owners!). So we've created Les Cimes des Arbres with everything we would want for ourselves if we were staying here - peace and tranquility, glorious views, luxury fixtures and fittings and that all essential private pool. If, like us, these things matter to you, then we're confident you'll love our little piece of heaven on earth in France.
What makes this property unique
Have we mentioned the private pool? As if that wasn't enough alongside the tastefully furnished luxury accommodation, the one thing that really takes our guests breaths away is the view. It is spectacular and the first words that most guests utter as they walk through the gate is 'wow!'......
