We are very sorry to hear about your husband’s medical emergency, and we genuinely understand that unexpected circumstances can arise. However, we believe it is important to clarify the circumstances surrounding this review. Our cancellation policy is clearly disclosed at the time of booking and states that cancellations must be made at least 30 days prior to arrival to receive a full refund. This policy applies consistently to all reservations. Travel insurance was also offered at the time of booking as an option to protect guests against unforeseen circumstances that could prevent them from traveling. The reservation was canceled only five days prior to arrival, well outside the stated cancellation window. While we sympathize with the situation, we are unable to make exceptions to the cancellation policy based on circumstances that occur after the cancellation period has passed. Regarding the communication referenced in the review, there was never a promise that the reservation would be rescheduled. We agreed to look into whether a rescheduling option might be possible with the owners. Given the circumstances and the nature of the subsequent communications, a future reservation was ultimately not offered. We regret that the guest was disappointed with the outcome, but our responsibility is to honor the clearly stated policies that guests agree to when making a reservation. Those policies exist to protect both the property owner and the business and must be applied fairly and consistently. The cleaning fee and damage protection fee has been refunded as of this post.
