About this property

Garden District Streetcar, Gated Driveway & Fenced Yard, Dog Friendly!

Private escape in the middle of the city! Just steps off the historic St. Charles Avenue & Streetcar line, this Garden District home provides an oasis, while set central to everything you'll want to see and do in New Orleans. The property is securely fenced and gated, and offers your own exclusive private, electric iron gated driveway. Your yard (not shared with anyone) is fully fenced with 6ft+ fences 360 degrees, and is a perfect place for your pup to play safely as you watch from your comfortable, tropical, original New Orleans brick patio.

Most of our guests don't even use their cars, with plenty of sites and amenities in walking distance, and with the Streetcar adding reach for miles in each direction. Restaurants, bars & markets begin a block away.

The house offers a living room, kitchen, laundry room with full W/D, single bath, one downstairs bedroom with queen bed and a Roku TV, fan, and darkened blinds, a large upstairs bedroom with a queen bed, a large day bed, a fan, and an extra air conditioner for individualized comfort in the loft. The living room is not a large space, but boasts plenty of sofa space with loungers, and a small table with office chair. There is no dining room, but the large outdoor living area includes a 6-person dining table with umbrella, and tropical ambiance.

You host lives in a separate unit in the front of the house. There are just two units total, yours and mine. You will never share space with anyone. My default is to leave guests to their own space, and we may not cross paths at all. But I will always be available should you need anything, and am always delighted to meet guests, should they wish.

NOTE for legal reasons, you MUST make the reservation for the total number of people spending the night, regardless of whether they are traveling with you or meeting you here.

Please message host FIRST regarding dogs you wish to bring (limit 2). Please read the House Rules for details on dog policies. Please do not bring a puppy to the house.

THE BEDROOMS:

Up to 4 guests have access to (1) the upstairs loft bedroom and (2) one downstairs bedroom.

Each bedroom has a very comfortable queen pillowtop bed, and the loft also has a large daybed.

OTHER FEATURES:

The house has central heat and chilly central A/C, and there is an extra window unit in the loft for individualized comfort upstairs. The house also offers 3 stand-alone fans, and a ceiling fan.

There is a small, full kitchen stocked with essentials and a laundry room with W/D, detergent, dryer sheets, and an iron with full ironing board.

Outside, a gated walkway opens onto your private, fully fenced yard. There is a dining table with chairs, gliding bench, umbrella, etc. It's a private space invisible from the street and a great place to have your morning coffee, plan your day, or wind down with some wine at the end of the night.

*****NOTE FOR MARDI GRAS: DO NOT INSTANT BOOK. YOU MUST SEND A CALENDAR INQUIRY TO THE HOST TO DISCUSS MINIMUM STAY AND OTHER FACTORS -- THANK YOU! *******

*******JAZZFEST/HALLOWEEN / VOODOO/ CITY PARK / MUSEUM: There is a bus on the corner that provides virtually door-to-door service to the Fairgrounds & City Park. This is how your host prefers to get there. The Streetcar can take you very close as well. The streetcar can take you to the Quarter in minutes as well. ********

There are two units total, yours and mine. The entire property is gated and locked. Enter through your driveway, or gate, and pass the front patio into your own gated walkway to your door and attached yard. Dogs are welcome, just send me a message about them when booking.

-Full laundry room with supplies
-Kitchen with fridge, stove, coffee pot, microwave, toaster, pots & pans, utensils etc and starter essentials (coffee, spices, etc)
-Bathroom with hair dryer, shampoo/soap/etc
-Connections include Wifi, TV with Roku services (no cable)
-Outdoors include private large (for New Orleans) yard & patio area that is for your/your dog's exclusive use during your stay.

-WHEN BOOKING/MAKING TRAVEL PLANS: Please note your check-in time of 3pm / checkout of 11am. While we try to accommodate early arrivals or late checkouts, it often is NOT possible due to other reservations and the schedule for sanitization. If you would like to ensure a morning arrival, or an afternoon/evening departure, consider reserving the day before/after your stay so you can ensure the house is available to you. Depending on the demand and time of year, it may be possible to reserve an extra half-day for a reduced fee - please inquire. Thank you for understanding!

You MUST message the host first to inquire about all Mardi Gras reservations, which include the last 2 weeks before Fat Tuesday (varying each year between late January-early March). Minimum stays apply.

Your host believes life should be filled with fun and rewarding experiences. I welcome contact from you and am happy to help whenever and wherever possible to make your stay a good one.

Note that one dog lives in the front half of the house. The house is old; you may hear them bark (or you may not - she is very quiet). She does not have access to you, nor any of your areas of the property.

Also be sure to check out our other listing for our Mississippi waterfront / treehouse getaway, just an hour from New Orleans!

Host profile image
A local and graduate of Loyola New Orleans. I'm an environmental scientist, grant writer, educator, avid music lover, and even a tap dancer... you might spot me in a parade! I seek out and embrace the amazing experiences New Orleans has to offer, and I look forward to helping you do the same.

Why they chose this property

This property is simply the perfect spot in New Orleans. It is central, in a good neighborhood, a block off the Mardi Gras parade route and famous New Orleans streetcar, is in walking distance of everything one needs, and yard space that is fairly unheard of in this historic part of the city. It is gated, private, in a neighborhood that is full of life during the day and peaceful at night. The neighbors are very friendly, and everyone actively participates in the fun things going on around us.
