About this property

Newly remodeled Coach House on Crooked Lake with new dock

The laid-back Coach House Loft is located on 50 feet of Crooked Lake shoreline and has 3 bedrooms and two full baths and sleeps 6 (7 if one or more are children). It has recently been gutted and completely remodeled with quartz and marble countertops, new high-end appliances, all new bathrooms, and a washer and dryer. There is an 8 X 21 deck for dinner, grilling, or relaxation with peeks of Crooked Lake through the trees.

There is a waterfront fire pit for roasting marshmallows, bikes for cruising the newly paved bike trails, and a 48 foot dock for fishing, boating, or enjoying sunsets. Crooked Lake waterfront is shared with one other rental cottage, and there is plenty of room for everyone. New furniture has been installed. Most of the living area is on the second floor, so an ability to climb stairs is necessary. We only rent from Friday to Friday during the summer high season (June 30- August 11).

Need more room? Rent the 1 bedroom, 1½ bath cottage on the same property for a larger family gathering.

During month of July and August the beach area gets some weeds so we do tell people it’s not a swim beach. But LOTs of sandy sandbars on lake and state park is only 1 mike away on Lake Michigan. There are 4 large fresh water inland lakes you can access From our dock known as the chain of lakes.

This area is a vacation wonderland: bring your boat, or rent one nearby to cruise the inland waterway to Pickerel, Burt, and Mullet Lakes. Or if you’re adventurous, go all the way to Cheboygan and Lake Huron. Golf at some of the finest courses, shop the cute boutiques of Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Charlevoix and Bay Harbor. Taste the wines and beers in our rapidly growing vineyard and microbrewery businesses. Spend the day on Mackinac Island. Enjoy the music and cultural events at the Bayview Association. Spend a beach day at Petoskey State Park or Sturgeon Bay. Try your luck at the Odawa Casino or attend one of the numerous summer festivals in area communities. Hop on the recently finished paved bike trail a few blocks away and travel to nearby communities. Petoskey is 5.1 miles away and Harbor Springs is 7.3 miles from our property.

The home is on a single parcel with another rental with shared access which is not clearly stated in the description. If you are going to bring a boat parking a trailer is not possible. The home is in a shallow heavy weed area that is not suitable for docking a boat or swimming. Home was not recently renovated as advertised needs update. The home needs to be cleaned. The parking is a mess and not suitable for two dwellings on a single parcel. The home is not as advertised and not worth the money.

The photos of the property were very misleading. It appeared in the the photos that we had a view of the water from our balcony, but this is not true. There is another a house right in front and all you are looking at is a roof. Also, the beach was very bad, in fact no beach and you good not swim due to all of the reeds, scum and muck. Also, the chairs provided outside were very poor. Could at least had some nice lounge chairs down by the water to enjoy the view. The property is unkempt outside, lots of weeds, etc. The inside is OK but getting beaten up and needs work.

Sweet carriage house on a wonderful lake

My young daughter and I stayed with my older parents in this carriage house for four nights and we really enjoyed our stay. The lake offered us some really nice boating and there is a system of lakes that this one is a part of so you can enjoy several days worth of exploration. Though the property is at a T of two busy roads, once you walk down a little further from the main highway, it gets much quieter and makes for some lovely walks. There is no central air so if planning to open the windows in the evenings, the road noise can be loud. Therefore, consider bringing a sound machine if traveling with children. There are plenty of towels towels and they (and the bed linens) are of excellent quality. There was no furniture to store clothing in upstairs but a lovely painted dresser in the downstairs bedroom. We didn’t have any clothes hangers but there was a lot of wire shelving in the closet that we set our clothes on. The owner didn’t have a sheet of information with things like the Wi-Fi info or where to get the kayaks but he was very accessible by phone and was able to answer our questions as they came up. We had a very nice day and thoroughly enjoyed our time in the area. A lovely spot in Michigan!

Great property, great neighbors, and the lake is beautiful!

I stayed at this property for a long weekend, it was my girlfriend and I with two other couples and we had a blast! The kayaks are great the fire pit is great and the house was great. The house was cozy and had everything we needed wish we could’ve stayed longer! The neighbors were very polite and cool also.

Great weekend stay

Our family of 7 enjoyed our stay for a long weekend. We were able to dock our boat to pick up the family for a day on Crooked and Burt Lakes. We appreciated all of the amenities and the proximity to Petoskey and surrounding areas. Would recommend!

Clean, Cozy Cottage

My wife, our 2 small children, and I rented this property for a week in June. We had an excellent stay, and the owner was quick to help with anything we needed. The space is small, but clean and all we needed. They have really made excellent use of the space! The bathrooms have been recently remodeled, as well as the kitchen, which helps the space feel clean. We liked that upon entering, there is tile floor and the washer/dryer and an extra fridge are on that floor. It makes it easy to drop beach towels/swim suits/etc (for us in the summer) or any of your snow gear (for the winter guests) and wash/dry anything right when walking in. The beds were very comfortable, too. The property has a great view on the water, but the unit in front of this one blocks the view from the porch. Overall, this is a great value for the price, location & comfort.We would definitely stay here again!

My wife and I are natives of petoskey. After completing our PHD's in Pharmacy we decided to settle back into our hometown and start a family. We have both always loved the Petoskey area and all the leisurely activities. So when the chance came along to buy some fully renovated cottages from some friends we couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Due to our very busy schedules were not able to use the cottages all the time and wanted to give others a chance to really experience lakefront living in Northern Michigan.

Why they chose this property

The specific road that this property is on is a quieter side road of the lake. When you look at a map of the lake you might notice other cottages along the main road. Those cottages are basically on the highway but this cottage is in a much nicer location and very peaceful.

This property is great because its away from the main road so you can enjoy relaxing and spending time with family. The cottages were completely renovated a few years ago so they are not run down like you might find in other rentals on the water.

What makes this property unique

It is rare to find a lakefront home this close to Petoskey and Harbor Springs. This property will appeal to those who are looking for proximity to "Up-North" activities combined with a peaceful waterside experience.
