It was an excellent house in a nice quiet neighborhood. We had a fabulous time. It was also over 100 years old and it was fun to see the original architecture.
Wonderful property in a beautiful location! Historic Queen Anne Victorian; very comfortable with modern touches. Easy access to downtown Boulder Creek and local attractions. Very responsive host. Looking forward to returning!
Great location, short ride to Big Basins park or the ocean. I brought my own food, but the Roots market has a great selection. As a lone female traveler, I felt very comfortable and safe in this house. Had a great weekend in Santa Cruz area.
This house is lovely and cozy. I went during a winter storm and listened to the sound of the rain and creek next door. It’s a rustic area and it felt like you’re nestled in the trees. The owner was available but gave me my space. In other seasons, there is a ton of hiking and a short walk to the cute downtown.
We loved our stay in Boulder Creek. We enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of Santa Cruz, while also being close enough to go there any time. The peaceful sound of the brook bubbling right next to the porch was just what we needed on our getaway!
We loved our stay at this adorable historic cottage. Loved all the updates like the beautiful kitchen and the wonderful windows while still keeping the old time charm. Close to some great hikes. A little far from the beach, but we still made our way there several times during our stay.
We enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing weekend in the redwoods. The neighborhood was very quiet and the amenities of Boulder Creek are all within walking distance. For those looking to eat out, Jenna Sue's Cafe and Scopazzi's are excellent. We hope to return for a future stay.
Kari's place is a delightful and comfortable one-bedroom cotage nestled in a quiet neighbourhood. We are so glad to have had the good fortune ro call it home for our week's stay in Boulder Creek.
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay in this old Victorian house. It had all the amenities that we needed. nicely decorated and very comfortable bed. Boulder Creek it’s such a beautiful little mountain town.Thank you, Kari!
I love staying at Kari’s sweet place. It had everything I needed for a quiet getaway. It was very clean and the bed was so comfy that I didn’t want to get out of it! Added bonus is the hiking trails that I could walk to. Thanks, Kari!
Kari's place was immaculate and serene - just what we wanted for a mother/daughter getaway. It's such a beautiful place and so close to everything yet tucked away on a tiny road in the trees. Everything we needed was there, directions were super clear and Kari is a great host!
My wife and I stayed here during Christmas week, while we were visiting in-laws in San Jose. The house was everything we hoped for: spacious, charming, clean, with a well-appointed kitchen. The setting is incredible, high in the Santa Cruz mountains, redwoods everywhere. We hope to return someday!
This was the perfect spot for exploring central California. And in the cutest, historic-landmark, house. Kari was great with recommendations and left us alone; in the best way possible. I hope all future VRBO hosts are half as good. 2 thumbs way up!
Through the window pink camelia blooms calmed me. Lunch in the yard looking up at the tall conifers refreshed me. Quiet night in a soft bed soothed me to sleep. This was a perfectly peaceful place.
Really enjoyed our stay celebrating our anniversary surrounded by beautiful redwoods and a little babbling brook nearby!
Very peaceful and private. Owner lives nearby and TOTALLY respects your privacy. We stayed 3 nights and never crossed paths and she was ready , available and quick to respond to any of our needs...a great host! Wonderful location to enjoy both the forests and the ocean minutes away.
Sitting on the front porch was fantastic and the easy walk to town was appreciated. Three wishes for the interior: More natural light (sky lights/light tubes would be lovely), reading lamps by the couch (it was just a little too dark for these old eyes), and towel racks in the bathroom.
House was clean, roomy and pretty much as described. I took one star away because of the somewhat limited bathroom. There are no towel racks and no electrical outlets near the sink/mirror area, making it difficult to use the hairdryer. Also, no microwave.

Hi Dan,
When booking in the future, make sure you review amenities and towel racks in listing to make sure they wont be a detriment to your stay. My listing is very clear in photos, you can see clearly. What you see is what you get, there are no towel racks in the photos, although plenty of places to hang towels in the bathroom. And also, very clear, that is that there is no microwave in my listing. Which is intentional.
About the host
Hosted by Kari Gates
I live on the property in a separate unit. There are also pets on the property, which will not interact with the guests. You will likely not see me unless you need something or I am getting the mail or a package from the porch. If the weather is hot I may need to water the front yard garden, but I respect your privacy greatly.
Things I love: gardening, animals, nature, hiking, live music, organic food.
Why they chose this property
I adore this town and this house. I have lived in the San Lorenzo valley since 1995. I bought this house as a fixer in 2003, gutted it to the studs and lovingly brought it to where it is now. I hope you enjoy.
