Beautiful lake front cabin that is peaceful and quiet. Kevin supplied all the wood. We enjoyed having evening and morning fires in the fireplace. — Near by there are a couple of nice places to visit; Arcadia Marsh Trail , Arcadia Bluffs Restaurant, Arcadia Sunset Station, and Arcadia Scenic Turnout. The Marsh Trail is a nice boardwalk with a beautiful view of the marsh habitat. The restaurant serves upper scale meals perfect for a celebration memory. The Sunset Station and Scenic Station are a wonderful place to view a Lake Michigan sunset.

Overall a good vacation. Check in process was smooth and was made known it’s a little on the rustic side. It’s a beautiful lake and nice location. However the cottage could use a periodical deep cleaning and a few updates like the furniture, the dock had a few boards that have seen better days as well. A little extra tlc would go a long ways.

Beautiful lake and lot w privacy, great price, great responsive host who plans to continue to renovate and responded to our complaints., nice cabin layout, kitchen and Bathroom. However, cabin needs attention, dirty & highly dusty, v outdated, boat unavailable, bikes were flat and unusable. Grill was filthy, kayaks were dirty and too much work to clean, plants growing in gutters, missing toilet paper and blankets for queen beds. Host plans deep cleaning & to resupply,,but needs work Just know. if you rent, the cabin has seen better days, needs a woman's touch, and my party had mixed feelings from disgusted to really liked the place.

Great cottage on a beautiful lake! Fishing was pretty good and the lake has clear water and a sandy bottom so it’s great for kids. We loved that a fishing boat was available as well as kayaks and paddle boards. The cottage was cozy and the beds were comfortable.

Quiet little cozy house on a beautiful clear lake. The house was perfect for our family of 5. Only 10-15 minutes away from beautiful Lake Michigan beaches and dunes. Plenty of water toys for the kids and great views of sunrise and sunset every day. The host was very nice and helpful. We enjoyed every second we were there and would definitely stay again.

Perfect getaway

This little place was absolutely wonderful. The house is in a quite wooded area, very cozy and well equipped. The host was very friendly and helpful, even guided me through how to use the boat. It’s a great place to stay and I can’t wait to come back!

Kevin is an awesome host! This is a beautiful area. The cottage is retro and awesome. It’s not fancy, but is a great location and has everything that you need. It was quiet and relaxing. We will definitely stay again!

This was an extremely disappointing experience. We were not expecting a fancy place, but the cabin was in an absolutely disgusting state. Tried to clean up ourselves (getting rid of mice droppings and many spider webs as well as cleaning the windows), but then we started discovering more and more things that made it impossible to stay at this property (left after 2 days although we were supposed to stay for a week). The septic tank (located right outside the guest bedroom) was gurgling and emitting a horrible smell anytime the water was turned on. The house smelled of smoke, dust and mice. The dock was completely unstable and unsafe (especially if you have children). Could be a beautiful property, but sadly not at all maintained.

We use the philosophy, "the customer is always right", so refunded these guests for the nights they did not stay. But when we checked the cottage after they left, we did not see most of the problems they mentioned. Before and after their stay, we did not see the "mouse droppings" they claimed, and as owner I was personally there before and after their stay. Because our cottage is in secluded woods, there are some spider webs and the outside windows get dirty easily from nighttime bugs that are attracted to the lights, we admit that, but that's normal for a wooded area. We checked the area around the septic tank, actually got down to ground level to sniff for odors, and did not smell anything at all. We tried all the sinks, toilets and drains, and everything worked fine with no "gurgling or odors". We had the septic tank pumped about a week before these guests arrived, so it was in good shape. Maybe these guests could smell the septic truck had recently pumped the system, but we could not smell anything at all, and no other guests mentioned that problem. We did detect a minor "smoke" odor around our indoor fireplace, but no "dust or mouse odor", so maybe these guests were simply highly sensitive and needed an air purifier? We also disagree that our dock is "unstable and unsafe". It is older, but built with heavy 2"x6" treads with steel braces underneath, and we have never had anybody get hurt on it. If kids were horsing around on the dock, they could fall into the water, but the lake is not deep around our dock, with a sandy bottom and no dropoffs, so not a drowning hazard. Our average review is 9.4 at the time of this writing, and nobody else has been so dissatisfied, so we feel this is just a case of somebody with unrealistic expectations. Nonetheless, we take all reviews seriously and use them to improve our property for future guests.
