Kootenay Lake Lodge -Cabin for 2 guests- only two minute walk to the water !
Get away from it all without breaking the bank !! Now back on the market by popular demand from former guests. We are again offering the 340 sft cabin, ideal for a single traveler or for a couple. The cabin is especially popular by bicycle riders since it is located approximately midway between Creston and the ferry landing at Kootenay Bay. The cabin is equipped with a queen size bed, bedding, linens and towels, kitchen with mid-size fridge, full size kitchen range, microwave, coffee maker and dishes, pots & pans and kitchen utensils for 2 guests. It also has a bathroom with shower and plenty of hot water. To stay connected, in an area with next to no cell service, we have now equipped the cabin with it's own Wi-Fi (Copper Telus 6 - fast enough for streaming videos- set your phone to wifi calling ). Since Summers seem to be getting hotter every year, we now installed a good cooling Window A/C unit that keeps the cabin cool even on a very hot day. It's only a short walk or drive to Mackie Beach Park with it's beautiful pebble beach, picnic tables, swim platform, firepit, washroom and shaded parking area. The cabin is located just above the beach campground area and a short 2 min walk away from a long swim or from a quick refreshing dip in the lake. For boaters, the public boat ramp is 1 mile south and free to use ( please consider a donation - a donation box is installed next to the ramp - please bring cash). Boaters are welcome to park their boats in our designated boat parking area for a $10/ night fee. The boat fee must be paid to the host directly. Useful items to bring are: foldable camping chairs; table top or portable BBQ and propane, an approved propane fire pit during fire ban times, swim shoes, matches, fire starters, a flash light, paddle boards or kayaks/canoe. The resort is on a boil water advisory, please bring bottled water or bring the tap water to a 3 minute rolling boil. **Boswell is situated approximately halfway between Creston and the ferry landing in Kootenay Bay. The ferry crosses the lake towards the Nelson side and is free to use. Guests often walk on and enjoy a free round trip lake cruise with breathtaking views. The Osprey 2000's snack bar sells very delicious hot dogs and bakery items. Kokanee Golf Resort is a short 25 min. drive by car. Hundreds of secluded beaches and bays to explore by boat! Guests may leave their canoes and kayaks at our beach area (bring a chain and padlock). We allow dogs but no other kind of pets. We absolutely do NO allow cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles etc ). Our nightly dog fee/PER DOG is $10 Chihuahua/Yorkie size, $15 up to 25 kg ( 50 pounds) and $ 25 for very large or very hairy breeds. The dog fee covers additional cleaning and must be paid to the host directly. Dogs must be kept on a leash. To guests who would rather want to stay at an accommodation that is more spacious and right by the water, we recommend a stay at one of our Waterfront Log Chalets. Guests with mobility issues or families with smaller children usually prefer a stay at our 1500 sft vacation home. * This cabin is clean, functional and affordable but more like a tiny home.

Our stay at Kootenay Lake Lodge was fantastic. The owners Klaus and Claudia were lovely. Very accommodating, friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the little red cabin and loved it! We will also be bringing our trailer up to camp as well. I highly recommend this place and will be returning.

It was very quaint and rustic with all the amenities
A better description that it was across the road from the beach would have been helpful We had a very relaxing 2 days there with no TV or radio We would definitely stay there again
We were very lucky to discover this perfect little cottage. For cyclists, it's ideally suited to make two easy days rides between Creston and Ainsworth. The kitchen was well equipped, and we were able to pick up everything we needed at the grocery store a few on South at Destiny Bay. We hope to come back.

We arrived late with a tire problem. The two owners helped resolve that, and gave us a welcome addition to our supper. The owners are very gracious.
We loved our stay at the Red Cabin. The ambience was full of lake cottage personality and charm. The hosts were friendly, welcoming and were accessible onsite for any needs. The view was AMAZING. The had actual window seats to an unobstructed Kootenay Lake view, just stunning. The property offers private beach access and welcomes our 4 legged friends with open arms. We would jump at the opportunity to return for another visit. Wonderful.
Claudia is responsive and easy to deal with. The cottage is charming and well outfitted for a getaway. Everything you could need for making your own meals and snacks. The view from the bedroom/living area is amazing (beautiful view of Kootenay Lake and mountains). It is a reasonable drive from the artisan shops of Crawford Bay and the ferry across the lake.
For our needs it was perfect! Those looking to be right on the water might be disappointed BUT location is clear in the cottage description.

Thank you, Daniel, for your wonderful and honest review. For guests looking for affordable waterfront location, we will soon be offering three permanently parked camping//travel trailers, perfect for the single traveller or for a couple. They will compliment our family friendly waterfront log chalet rentals and our mountainside cabin for 2. The trailers are 26 to 30 ft in length and are RIGHT by the water. During Spring run off, one can jump into the lake right from the front area! We will be accepting reservations for the camping trailers, for the Summer of 2020, starting in April. Looking forward to sharing our paradise with our future guests ! Claudia

As Expected from the pictures
Great little cabin for a day or two. Bed was good but it was the only furniture with the exception of the chairs at the very small eating bar. I would suggest that the cabin add a small table with 2 chairs otherwise it was the value I expected for the price. There's no wifi, TV or cell service so a better sitting area would have been appreciated. Claudia was great and let us know what to bring for the stay, what wasn't available in the cabin. A longer stay in the summer would require some form of A/C as the building was quite warm all night. I would stay here again.

Thank you for the thoughtful response. We value constructive feed back. We now equipped the cabin with an additional lounging chair but are afraid of cluttering the small place. One of the reasons, I always advice all of our cabin guests to bring their own camping chairs is that they can be used inside and outside and can conveniently be folded out of the way when not needed. Installation of A/C is definitely planned for next Summer ! Wi-fi would be easy to install but we opted out of it, in order to keep the nightly rate as low as possible. Our two waterfront log chalets offer all these modern life conveniences, for the traveller who doesn't mind paying a bit more. A MAIN season rate of $ 89 a night for our clean, newly renovated, self contained cabin with fair sized fridge, new 4 burner kitchen range with oven, double sink, microwave, hot water kettle, coffee maker, plenty of pots and pans, a comfy queen size bed, bathroom with roomy shower, breakfast bar with 3 bar stools PLUS a hot water tank that provides plenty of hot water for even a large family, just minutes from the water, is hard to undercut considering that serviced RV sites in our area cost $ 45 a night. I would take Rick again (and wouldn't mind receiving the agreed on boat storage fee, next time).

VRBO had a system glitch. The owner and host of this property sent me this assuming I left a three star review. I explained to her multiple times that it was a mistake and that I had a great time Claudia persisted that I was lying and that I was not being truthful with her VRBO ended up reaching out to Claudia and explain that the app had a glitch and that I never did leave a bad review. Claudia attempted to apologize, but I wanted to share what she sent me so others can see her awful customer service skills.“ Hello Mark, your nightly rate was 99. Our RV Sites are 65. What you get for the 35 difference is a cabin, a comfy bed, a full kitchen, a bathroom with a shower ( looots of hot water and good water pressure), fast Wifi. We did not charge for your 13 month old. Hope you feel good leaving us a 3 star review ! I will now be be increasing the rate to 150 in order to attract more realistic guests. Have a good day”I couldn’t believe a host would message a client like this. Claudia does not deserve to be a host.
