About this property

Breathtaking Lake View - Jacuzzi & Heated Pool, Free Wifi/Dsl

Please note: In compliance with tightened local gov't regulations, this property is only available for rentals longer than 28 days.
This recently renovated condominium is located on the slopes of Heavenly Ski Resort. It offers four comfortable bedrooms, two baths, and is located near the Stagecoach and Boulder ski lifts/lodges. When relaxing after world-class skiing or one of the many summer activities, you will enjoy a breathtaking view of Lake Tahoe, ski runs, and the state forest that it borders. It is a corner unit, so you get the most privacy and the best panoramic view. There is a great residents-and-guests-only jacuzzi(heated year-round) and pool (heated in the Summer) located across the street. For the evening, the condominium is five miles(~10 min drive) from the casino area and its many nightlife options.

The casino area offers numerous bars and restaurants for all tastes and budgets. The Fox and Hound Bar/Grill is within walking distance from the condominium. Or, simply enjoy a quiet evening by the raised fireplace, listening to music or watching a movie.

When it comes to activities, the sky is the limit. While winter skiing is truly awesome, the summer offers many fun and relaxing activities as well. The temperature stays mostly in the 70s and 80s, and the mountain air is fresh, cool, and dry. The beautiful Tahoe Rim trail, which could take you all the way around the lake, runs right past the condo. In addition to hiking, within a 15-minute drive you will find great beaches, biking, and top-notch golf. For the more adventurous, parasailing and ballooning are available as well. Do not forget about the delightful outdoor jacuzzi and heated pool just across the street, which really hit the spot at 7500-foot elevation. The well-maintained private pool complex has a sunbathing area, along with men's and women's changing rooms with hot showers.

Comfortable and enjoyable stay with an excellent view!

We had a great stay. Elaine and Dimitry were excellent hosts. the place was reasonably priced and met all expectations. Beds at night were very comfortable (living room sofas not so much but that's OK). Kitchen was well-stocked with the basics including spices, salt, pepper, etc. Parking was easy. We never used the TV but it was nice to see the collection of DVDs. Ample sleeping accomodations and it was nice to have the washer/dryer too (a few more towels might have been good). We did play some of the board games from the nice collection. This is a 3rd-floor walk-up, worth every step for the privacy and the amazing views it affords. The pool and hot tub were a bit farther than expected and access (key code) was not provided (but we made it in anyway); these amenities were not much to write home about anyway. Proximity to the mountain and the lifts was excellent, and free parking wasn't hard for us to find (though free shuttle service also serves the condo from its parking lot and is very consistent and quick).

Ski trip

Location is convenient once the Nevada side of the mountain opened for skiing. The listing says it has 2 tv's. Only had 1 tv with no channels to watch. Contacted the owner who said previous renter must have taken the roku. Had to hook up laptop to watch movies. Description of property said recently renovated. Bahaha. In 1990 maybe. The couch had a broken leg which ww used trivia box to hold up. Sink leaked in kithen which they new about because they had a pot under the leak to catch water. It was half full when we arrived. Washed and cleaned dishes before using as they were put away dirty. Shutters on windiws were broken, floors were dirty and had not been swept/vacuumed in some time.

Beautiful views. Needs some updating.

Great communication with the owners. Beautiful views. We enjoyed our stay, but would recommend some updating/cleaning. It was very hot during our stay. There is no air conditioning & the one fan was broken. Many of the windows have no screens, so if you open them for a breeze, you also get bugs. Speaking of bugs, there's lots & lots of ants in the unit; big & small. We bought Raid & sprayed. We thought we'd have a family night & play some games, but they're all missing pieces & the game console doesn't work. Bring your own board games. We love the South Shore & the location of this place & I think we enjoyed our stay more than we would have in a hotel. Nice being able to cook breakfast & pack lunch. But again, kitchen could use some cleaning & new items. The one wooden spoon had black burn marks. The pitcher had no lid. There's no griddle, so pancakes took a while. I opened the kitchen shutters (dusty) to let in some light & inside the window well was filled w/ dead bugs. I closed it back up. A little house keeping could make this place a gem.

Thank you for bringing these items to our attention. We would have gladly taken action on them during your stay, had we been made aware of them at that time. Unfortunately, we're not always aware of any issues with the property unless our guests give us a heads-up. Of course, this is also the reason that we can offer a large, comfortable condo, with spectacular lake views, for less than the cost of a pair of cheap hotel rooms with a view of the parking lot :) Despite our best efforts to regularly replenish all our rental amenities and supplies, it is possible that prior guests may have damaged or misplaced items like cooking utensils or game pieces. We urge our future guests to ask us in advance about any items they'll specifically be looking for during their stay, and again, should any issues arise when they get there, we'll do everything we can to minimize any inconvenience they may experience.

Older property, but well equipped condo for groups or families

1st: We've been a user of VRBO since 2010 w/ trips to Northstar, Whistler, Steamboat, and Washington DC and never have had a bad experience w/ VRBO ( KUDOS to VRBO). Now for this stay: Upside: Great location easy .7 mile walk to Stagecoach, or .9 mile ( all down hill) to Boulder ( recommend Boulder if open b/c of ease of parking). Owners were very responsive and patient w/ us in explaining how to operate heater, fireplace, and where the router is located ( under bed in upstairs b/r). Kitchen was well stocked w/ various utensils to ease your baking / cooking needs( we tend to cook / bake our meals, so love a fully stocked kitchen) Minor downside: 1) As was forwarned the stairs will give you a workout when slepping your stuff up stairs, so get in shape 2) Walkway from parking lot to condo was icy and did not seem to be well plowed unlike the parking lot which was free of snow / ice. Nuisances: 1) Small problem of what time to check in ( 3pm, or 4pm ). My paperwork said 3, but cleaner had 4, and talking to Dimitry it should have been 4, and he is suppose to correct it. 2) All the glasses had to be re washed b/c they were dirty. Not owners fault nor cleaners but previous renters not taking care of it. 3) Because of older construction of condo building, or lack of insulation between units walls you could hear your neighbors tv or loud talking Overall, will be on the very short list of properties when we go back up skiing at Heavenly..

Great location, great layout, well-equipped, attentive owner

I had not noticed the stairs warning when I booked, and since I ended up hauling all the heavy items up and down, I wish I had :-) That being said, the condo was good. It was well-equipped, we had some minor issues, but the owner was very responsive via call and text, and we got them resolved the first day. My father-in-law and his wife decided to join us since we had extra bedrooms (it was my wife and I and our nephew), but he suffered his first-ever altitude sickness at 80 years old and had to leave after the first night.' Being close to Stagecoach Loadge was the best part, and being there on a Spring Break after most of California meant no lift lines and we had a great time skiing. The condo was well-equipped with everything we needed to cook meals. I had to brew one pot of hot water before I realized why there was a coffee grinder when the coffee pot had one (which didn't work, which is why there was a grinder!) The building must share a common hot water, so if you showered when everyone else did, the water would get lukewarm. We adjusted our schedule to get hot showers. Overall, very good and we'll make this top option when we go back to Lake Tahoe!

Quaint family friendly

Great location, comfortable atmosphere and kid friendly furniture; we felt at ease with our kids, not worried they would break something. There were a few issues upon arrival with the door knobs, but the property manager was available and immediately sent someone to fix. We all agreed the beds could be softer and plumbing fixtures left something to be desired, but overall it made us feel relaxed which we wanted to do :)

Affordable mountain getaway with amazing views!

While the unit is a bit older, there is plenty of space and everything you'd need for the basics during a trip up to Tahoe. Lots of games to play & stay entertained. Wifi wasn't too strong, but was able to take some work meetings remotely. During ski season, this place would have been a prime location as it is close to the lifts. Was a short drive into the city down the mountain with a super fun restaurant called Fox and The Hound in walking distance along with a small market to get all your basics. Lots of towels and blankets available and the kitchen was stocked with all the basics. Only recommendation I can think of is a topper for the mattresses to make them more comfy. Otherwise, Dimitry was very responsive to anything we needed and it was a solid, affordable stay for a long weekend trip!

Good Option.

This property is affordable for the area and you get what you pay for. My family is very active and we don't spend a lot of time sitting around the place we are staying so someplace to sleep and eat is all we are looking for. The place is not clean and that is the only complaint I have. If I'm paying a cleaning fee why is the place filthy when I arrive. Cracked walls, pealing paint and everything well used doesn't bother me because the price to stay is very reasonable. Mold on the shower curtains and bathroom doors that don't latch let alone lock are a problem. My family had a great time and I would probably stay again.

Scott, thanks so much for your feedback. We briefly had to use a temporary cleaner, while our regular one was away. With our long-term cleaner back, which unfortunately was after your stay, our guests offered nothing but positive comments. We also completed several maintenance jobs, so you may notice that the settlement cracks are gone, and doors are fully aligned with their frames the next time you stay there :). We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your Tahoe experience, and look forward to hosting your family again in the future!

Cozy, comfortable and picturesque location.....

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kingsbury. Dimitry (Owner) was reachable at all times even on Christmas Day when we had issues with Internet. He helped is in every possible way and was a phone call away. This place is cozy and very close to Heavenly. The view was breathtaking. We would love to stay there again.

Great stay in Tahoe!

Our family had a wonderful stay in the cabin. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinner every night, there were games to play and movies to choose from at the end of the night. Everything was terrific. It was so conveniently close to the Heavenly lifts that we could come back from skiing to have lunch and then return to the slopes for the afternoon.

Great view in need of some TLC

Beautiful view, but the condo itself could use a deep clean and some repairs. Host worked with us because there was ongoing construction in the unit below us during our stay. Nice to have our dog with us, but keep in mind there are 3 flights of stairs to navigate every time your pup goes potty.

Great location for ski trip!

We were 2 families (4 adults and 4 kids) and had plenty of room at this condo. We had a blast skiing the nearby slopes and hanging out at the condo playing family games in the evening. Comfortable, spacious property for a big group

We want to offer our most sincere thanks to the owners of the property, Elaine and Dimitry. In the process of renting they were easy to reach with questions and always answered fast and up to the point. The property perfectly fit our group of 7 adults and a child of 10. Only 2 people in our group could share a bed, and we were lucky to find a home that not only had a wonderful lake view, spacious rooms, comfortable kitchen, but also perfectly fit the peculiar composition of our group. We cooked our dinner there and found all we needed in the kitchen. We were a group of old friends living now in different countries who arranged to gather in California to spend some time together. This big condo provided for us a comfortable and pleasant space we needed so much.

Stuffy, need ceiling fans in the bedrooms

Pros: The location, dog friendly, the view, and Dimitri is quick to respond Cons: 45 stairs to get to the condo, windows which do not open or do not have screens on a warm summer day it is very stuffy inside the condo, and the sheets are very rough. The condo is best suited for a winter rental with the decor to match

Thank you for your feedback. We would've been happy to provide electric fans, had we known about your being hot during your stay. We'll also ask our cleaners to use a different fabric softener. We recognize that everyone is entitled to their subjective opinion, but still wanted to clarify a couple of items that didn't seem completely fair. Firstly, the top of our listing's "Amenities" page clearly states that the condo is on the 3rd floor. We strive to be completely transparent in our listing, and it's disappointing to see a reviewer chosing to ignore this obvious part of the description, only to complain about it afterwards. Incidentally, the actual number of steps is 30, not 45 (more specifically, 10 steps down and 20 step up). As for the seasonal appeal, we have hundreds of happy guests who think our property is an outstanding Summer vacation spot, complete with warm, welcoming decor that references the many year-round activities in the area. We hope to welcome many more guests to enjoy the best of what Tahoe area has to offer year-round in the future.

Very comfortable condo in a superb location with great views

This condo was perfect for two families (4 adults and 4 children) during our one week stay. The living area and bedrooms all stayed warm during a two-day blizzard. All beds were comfortable and each bedroom had plenty of linens, blankets and storage for clothes. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots, pans and utensils. Convenient parking with a short access road right to the stairs makes unloading and loading relatively easy. Shuttle bus stop provides easy access to lifts, casinos and South Lake Tahoe activities. Snow removal provided by the home owners association kept parking lot and deck clear. Beautiful view of the lake during the one day it did not snow. Dimitri is a superb host and provided timely responses to our reservation request and subsequent questions. In addition, he accommodated our last minute request to arrive early and beat an impending snow storm. I highly recommend this condo and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Family Time

We were able to get all three of our adult children, their significant others and our granddaughter to join us up at this wonderful cabin in Lake Tahoe. There are stairs to the third floor, but that is common in the high mountains of Lake Tahoe. This condo has four bedrooms and two baths as well as a large area for gathering. The Play Station and games were a hit with our granddaughter and she got all of us playing. The views were incredible and the smoke from the fires in Nor Cal only added to the deepening of the colorful sunset. Dimitri is an absolute joy to work with and there is not a more affordable condo in the entire area. the kitchen was well stocked and this condo stays very warm in spite of the low temperatures at night. We had a blast as a family and will return. The heated pool and spa just a stones throw away added to a perfect vacation for all of us. Thank you Dimitri for helping us with our little family reunion. You are very easy to ddeal with and the condo is well stocked for any group. Ciao.

What A Great Place To Stay!

Our summer vacation to Lake Tahoe was made even more special thanks to this condo. Located at the top of the mountain some 1100 feet above the lake itself, you have one of the most fantastic views of Lake Tahoe right outside your door. The air up there is crisp and clear, and such a relief from the heat that we are used to in Vegas. The size was perfect for our family, and the fact that our dog was welcome was a huge plus. We especially enjoyed playing classic Monopoly, one of the many games at the condo, after the long days down by the lake. The location is great for easy access to Lake Tahoe, only 15 minutes down the mountain and your in the heart of everything. The Red Hut and Burt's for breakfast and McDuff's Pub for dinner were some of our favorite places to eat in the area, The Fox and Hounds, almost within walking distance of the condo, had great barbeque. To top it all off, the owner Dimitry was great to deal with. He made it very easy for us to finalize the booking and was fast in refunding the deposit. We really hope to get back to Lake Tahoe in the near future, and when we do we hope to stay here again. Well recommended!

We are a professional family living in beautiful San Francisco. We have an active lifestyle and love the outdoors. We also love Lake Tahoe and try to go there at every opportunity.

Why they chose this property

We visited Lake Tahoe the first weekend after we moved to the Bay Area over ten years ago. We instantly fell in love with it, and knew that this is a place we will be visiting many times over. We also knew that by buying a rental condo we will be giving many guests an opportunity to enjoy it as well.

What makes this property unique

It offers a whole new experience that we can't find in San Francisco: Mountains, the lake, beaches, world-class skiinig, hiking and much more.

Although the property is only ten minutes away from the city of So. Lake Tahoe, we really enjoy the great feeling of relaxation and solitude that only a mountain home can offer. If you're looking for a place to 'recharge your batteries' - you definitely found it here. The incredible view of the lake and surrounding mountains really adds to the effect.
