Welcome To Dawn Hill Ranch/T.O.T. Certificate 2329N
We look forward to hosting you but want to be transparent that parties and weddings are not permitted due to Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance. We also do not allow pets however we do occasionally bring our hypo-allergenic wire-haired 10 lb mini dachshund to our home.
Dawn Hill Ranch is a serene country setting right in the heart of Sonoma Wine Country in the charming town of Glen Ellen. Just minutes from wineries and great dining in Glen Ellen, Kenwood, and Sonoma. House has everything you need to relax, entertain and gather. Master Bedroom (king) with in-suite bathroom, Guest Room (Queen) with full bathroom. Great BRAND NEW kitchen with high-end Wolf range and all the luxuries of home. Living room, sitting room, outdoor deck with BBQ area and Sonos WiFi music throughout the entire home. Downstairs (accessed by external staircase) great room includes living area, large 75-inch flat screen TV, and pool table and guest bedroom (queen) and guest bedroom (two twin's ideal for kids) that share a full bathroom. This is a great home for getting away from it all with your girlfriends, family reunion, or romantic get away.

This little piece of a paradise was a dream of Leigh’s for many years and we are so happy to share it with you. Please know it is special to us and we hope you will treat it like your home.
If you are someone who likes to know a little history about the property we are happy to share it with you. Dawn Hill Ranch was built by Gerald “Jerry” Baldwin, an English American businessman, who along with Gordon Bowker and Zev Siegl founded Starbucks in Seattle in 1971. Mr. Baldwin learned the coffee trade from Alfred Peet, whose store Peet’s Coffee & Tea was the inspiration for Starbucks.
Mr. Baldwin planted the Zinfandel grapes on the property in 1978 and the vineyard is dry farmed organically and yields about 80 cases of Zinfandel each year. In 2011, the 2007 Dawn Hill Ranch Zinfandel won the Gold Medal at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and as you can imagine sold out shortly thereafter. The 2007 DHR Zinfandel was described as a medium to full-bodied wine with concentrated dark cassis and plum. It was aged in barrel for thirty months.
In addition to the vineyard, there are also about 85 Olive trees on the property that yield about fifty gallons of olive oil each year. Its fun to sample the wine and olive oil and we may be biased but they both are quite good! There is also a fruit orchard on the property adjacent to the lower patio. There are persimmons, figs, pomegranates and pears, plums, apples and oranges for the taking come summer.
Mr Baldwin and his wife, sold the property several years ago to another family and we bought it from them in 2014.
We want you enjoy your stay here and we’ve left lots of information to make your visit as stress free as possible. Below is a thorough description of the two-level home.

About the host
Hosted by Leigh Oshirak
We are a family of three who have lived in the bay area for over 20 years. I am a consultant and my husband is a surgeon in San Francisco. We have a wonderful son and a wire-haired weiner dog named Snickers! Our primary residence is in the quaint little town of Tiburon in Marin County. We love being on the water in Tiburon but love the country too. Dawn Hill Ranch is a place where we relax and invite our friends to get away from it all.
Why they chose this property
We have brought guests to the wine country, both Sonoma and Napa for as along as we have lived in the bay area. Each time we drove into the valley we were in awe of the beauty available right in our own back yard and the reaction from our guests. Last year our dear friends from Turkey were in to celebrate my husbands birthday and fell in love with the valley and said (in a very convincing way) you should buy a house in the country and honestly I had wanted to for some time but it was their encouragement that pushed me along. We have put our hearts into this place so it is a place of relaxation that is a respite from busy city life with just enough modern comfort. The minute my wheels turn onto the gravel driveway my blood pressure goes down and we are home. Our son calls it our happy place and that is saying a lot coming from a 10 year old!
What makes this property unique
What I love about this location is that proximity to so much that the wine country has to offer. You are literally within 5-10 miles to 100 wineries and world class food. It is not uncommon for us to take a jaunt up to Healdsburg as well which is a good 30 minute drive. But you are close to Sonoma, Glen Ellen, Kenwood, and just 15 miles over Trinity road to Napa Valley. There are also 4 beautiful parks close by if you want to do some hiking or exploring. But more than anything, it's the beauty of the valley, the weather, and the nice people that make it heaven!
