The cottage is perfect for a couple. We loved the size, the lanai overlooking the ocean was so relaxing. Close to nature and not touristy. A bit of a drive to town, but worth it.

Amen to that! This is a semi- remote location for those that do not want to be in a typical city. For those CC that really want to ‘ get away’, this may be a good choice. There is a market, Hawaiian Bar, deli within 4 miles for your convenience.
It was so nice to stay at this cottage. The location is wonderful and I miss it already! Everything was so clean and peaceful. Don't hesitate to book this property. It's great!

This is the kind of review that we cherish. We are so proud to hear comments like this and we hear it a lot. Kehena Beach is all that and more - a truly magical place.
Thank you a Brian

Yes, we have 3 great oceanfront cottages and we’ve found that ‘ each one’ has its unique qualities
that our guests love. They each have a great ocean view.

So close to the beach. Loved hearing the sound of the ocean and staying around the pretty foliage. Periodic rain made for some peaceful and energizing relaxation time. Will be recommending to family and friends that need a relaxing place to rest and rejuvenate.
Location felt secluded with out being far away from everything. Views from the porch were lovely. Cottages were the perfect size, and had everything we needed. Hike down to the beach across the street is definitely worth it. The locals were so helpful and friendly.
I’d definitely stay again.

Yes, this cute cottage is located in a semi- remote but beautiful coastal Hawaiian community. The nearest store w/ deli and Hawaiian Bar is just 3.4 miles down our same road. Old Pahoa Town is just up the hill 16 miles and they have a brand new shopping center w/ McDonlads, Pizza Hut, Popeyes, Thai Food, Malama Super Market and many others.
Most guests just live this area but if you need to be in the city - this isn’t for you.
Nice place, laid back feel,AC in the bedroom and good bed for a comfortable night sleep. Kehena black sand beach right across the road- you do have to climb down to it and trail is not well marked so ask anyone at the top how to get there.

Beautiful house in a wonderful location
This is a quaint and well maintained little house in a beautiful location directly across the street from a pristine black sand beach. We watched a magnificent sunset and the kids played in the water although it was a little rough. It was a l tough to cook because they did not have a full kitchen but we made it work. I would recommend this place to a friend.

Mahalo for the kind words. Yes, we do our best to keep this Cottage cute, clean, and well maintained. While the county does not allow 3 full kitchens on one property- we do provide a MW and toaster oven in the utility room which has been working well for most guests. If you need a full kitchen, try the Whale House- it's only about $5 more. Mahalo
This was our second stay at Dolphin Cottage. Kehena Beach is the obvious first attraction, as its across the street. If you've never been to Kehena, it's worth a visit. Beautiful sunrise, constant waves (watch out for the intermittent big wave) and interesting people. If you want some quiet time, you can sit on the balcony of Dolphin and listen to the palms rustle in the breeze. Dolphin is a good central point to visit Hilo, Pahoa, and VNP. Recommend!

Yes, if you want to get away from tourist traps and cities, this is a semi- remote area where you can relax and enjoy ‘ real Hawaii’
and see the interesting people mentioned.
So, if you want to experience ‘ something new and different’, try it. You may fall in love with the area and want to come back over and over again 🤟🏽🌴💕
I was only there for the night as I was traveling through the area but really enjoyed the home and the location right on the ocean. It's a quiet little neighborhood. Very quaint. Andre and Susan were responsive via text and even sent over a new coffee maker early in the morning when the existing one broke on me. They were great and the house was VERY clean. OVerall great experience.

Yes, this is such a nice neighborhood It makes you feel that you are in Kauai where over 200 Hollywood movies were filmed. It’s very green and tropical. People are friendly and you can feel the ‘ aloha spirit ‘. We love to see our guests happy and enjoying themselves - that’s our goal!
We were thrilled to have found this gem of a home at this dramatically scenic location. The photos really do not do it justice. Wish we could have stayed longer. It would have been helpful to know that there was a single burner hot plate, but we managed to plan food that would not require cooking! Mahalo!
Cute cottage across the street from beach. Quiet neighborhood. Full kitchen space but attention to no microwave or stove Drive to nearest store so I had bought groceries before arriving not knowing I would be unable to cook. Addition of at least a microwave would have made it perfect
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle this is the place!
I loved walking across the street to take a swim in the morning.
We drove around to see the 2018 volcano eruption. Everything is so lush.
My husband and I really enjoyed our visit.
Loved walking across the street in the morning with a cup of coffee and looking down on the ocean. Morning sun onto the deck was relaxing and invigorating.
All amenities available were exactly what we needed for a 5 day get away!

Absolutely! If you are looking to ‘ get away ‘ from city life - come to beautiful Kehena Beach. It’s semi- remote but just close enough to fine restaurants and stores. If you love nature and natural beauty - this is a place that you will never forget and it will call you back. .
I came her with my two teenagers. Loved the cottage, super cute and clean. Very comfortable. The beach access is very close and the sunrises are amazing!

This was the perfect place to stay, and directly across the street from the beach we were married at! My only regret was not staying longer! It had everything we could possibly need and it was so very clean! I felt so relaxed there!
I agree! Our 4.7 out of 5.0 star rating tells it all. It’s very RARE that you will see a 5 star anywhere so I think most people do agree … it’s a NICE PLACE in a beautiful semi- remote location known as Puna! 👍
