About this property

Incredible Mountain Log Home on Methow River

This newer upscale 2400 square foot cedar log home is located on the confluence of the Lost and Methow Rivers. The 35 foot glass prow windows face the river and North Cascades National Park. Although the river goes subterranean sometimes during the fall, swimming, rock hunting, snowmobiling and skiing are favorite activities on the river. For groceries and delicious baked goods don't forget to stop by the Mazama General store, about 7 miles from the house.

This is not your usual 'generic' vacation rental. It is a 'guest home' and it will feel that way too. We provide everything you need to have a great visit -- including many smaller appliances such as waffle iron, ice cream maker, crockpot, etc and all the laundry soap, shampoo, conditioner, body soaps, lotions, paper products, first aid kit, sewing kit -- and much much more.

Access to trails within the National Park, The Pasayten National Wilderness and the Okanogan National Forest are easily accessible by foot. The guest house has a great room with a real rock and wood fireplace as well as convenient in-floor radiant heat.

The home has been designed so that each sleeping area has a view of the river. The upstairs master bedroom boasts a huge lumberman king-size bed and a full bathroom, including skylights. Just outside the huge (half the size of the house) loft are two queen-size beds and a privacy panel if desired.

Downstairs is another private bedroom with a queen-size bed and access to the downstairs bathroom and full laundry room.

Nothing is overlooked in the kitchen including ,recipe books, crockpot, waffle iron, ice cream machine and many other smaller appliances. In the kitchen, is the side-by-side refrigerator with ice maker and all major appliances. Preparing and serving meals on the huge maple island is fun. The dining room table can seat 10.

The big TV/DVD/CD is ready for your entertainment as well as many DVD's, CD's, books, magazines and games (including children's). Wireless internet too!

On site manager located in a separate building (apartment over garage) on the premises. Always gives guests their space, but they are available if needed. Owners are available by phone, text, or email should you need us.

This guest house will bring you back again and again just so you can try another season here in Mazama, a place we call 'heaven on earth.'

Incredible stay

Every detail of our stay was well thought out and taken care of - from welcome treats that were greatly enjoyed to games to provisions for cooking indoors if you wanted, to recommendations for places to eat out at and things to do. Waking up to towering pine views from the large windows and chance encounters with deer outside - and the gurgling river - you can truly find calm, relax while enjoying the beauty of the Cascades. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Relaxing stay

The home had beautiful windows looking out at the riverbed and trees. It was picture perfect. The home and it's owners are very pet friendly which is a hard find usually. It's close to trails, General Store and the Old School House Brewery which has delicious food. There are caretakers living above the garage. You can hear the movement but they are quiet for the most part. Beds are on the firmer side so you may need to bring a pillow topper.

Enjoyed our stay!

The house was terrific for a three-night stay for five friends. Clean, well equipped, nice beds and furniture. The host was very responsive to any questions and providing additional information. On-site caretaker is very nice.

Spectacular Experience

It feels like staying at your best friend's house. We stayed for a week, and didn't run out of anything. The house is gorgeous and homey, the sheets are really soft, and the ice machine makes the glacier water taste even fresher. The caretakers, Susie and Bill, made sure we had everything we needed, and they even got me some flowers and a card, since I was having a quiet birthday getaway. We loved every single second of our stay, and will definitely be coming back.

great base camp

we love mazama so much! this was such a clean quiet and spacious home for our party of 5. a perfect spot to cook dinner and relax after a great day of hiking!! the river was running dry, but it was a short walk to the full channel which made for a nice after dinner stroll. appreciated all the fans to help cool down the house. Highly recommend.

Awesome house and hosts

We had a delightful stay at RocknRiver with our dog. The house was bigger than it appears in the pictures. It was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. Tom and Linda were excellent hosts, always available to give advice about restaurants and activities, but also respecting our privacy. We fell in love with Mazama. We will definitely be back.

Nordic ski weekend

Beautiful cabin and property! We came to ski for a long weekend and everything was perfect. After a long ski from Winthrop to Mazama this was a warm cozy home to come back to. The fireplace was such a treat. The kitchen is huge and had everything we needed. Our big dog went right to the (provided)comfortable dog bed and enjoyed his welcome cookie. Felt like we were in a magical snow globe! We can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful week at the river

Lovely cabin by a beautiful river. It was perfect for both a bachelorette weekend, and later, a getaway with an elderly parent. The weekend with friends was perfect, we had privacy in a great, safe location. The cabin was stocked with all the essentials and we had fun making meals together. Later with family, our dad enjoyed the ground level bedroom, bathroom, living area, and was easily able to walk down to the river on the path and sit when he wanted. We were worried about not having AC but there were many fans and even tho the temps outside were high, we were never uncomfortable in the house. Hosts communicated quickly and caretakers were helpful. Would absolutely recommend this cabin to anyone and we hope to return next year!

Winter wonderland retreat

We had a fabulous time! The cabin was cozy and warm with the wood fireplace and heated tile floors. We loved snowshoeing right off the property and going into Mazama for skiing. I slept so well and loved waking up to that million dollar view. We had two small dogs - very glad this place was pet friendly. Owners were very responsive and great if you have any questions. Caretakers shoveled snow but we’re otherwise invisible to us. We would definitely come here again!

Beautiful Retreat and launchpad

What a special place to be fortunate to enjoy! Peaceful yet all the modern convinces. We enjoyed being able to walk the river bed and after a little walk the river was still flowing to our elation. Great location to feel away and head into the mountains for a multitude of hikes but also only 12 min from the store in Mazama and 30 min to Winthrop. Had a chance to speak with the caretaker Bill a few times and addressed any concerns right away and was very amicable. Prior to rental dates owner addressed questions we had promptly and made sure we were all setup prior. Hope to return again!

Gorgeous getaway

Those was a perfect relaxing weekend! The scenery and snow were incredible. And we had a warm, comfortable home to come back to where we could leisurely cook our meals. If you are a techie family, be forewarned. Internet speeds are not optimal. More than one person streaming music is not recommended.

Restful vacation home

The home is very comfortable and very well-equipped, and its location so close to the river can't be beat. The kitchen had everything we needed, and we were able to cook meals easily. Also the ceiling fans were much appreciated, as it got quite warm during our stay. The only drawback we noticed concerned the recliners in the living room - they did not work properly, and one almost dumped our adult nephew on the floor when he tried to recline in it. Communication with the owners was excellent, and it was nice that the managers checked in on us to make sure we were doing okay.

Beautiful Home, Great Home Base for Hikes

Beautiful home. Extremely well equipped. Very pet friendly so we enjoyed having our two Goldens with us too. Particularly great if you’re looking to be off the grid for a few days. We had no cell service, and no Internet service as it was down in the area, which turned out to be fine. Great location to explore the many beautiful hikes in the area. Our one disappointment was that the river was bone dry, no water at all. We stayed in the early part of September so we had not expected that, but the river was dry for miles. So, we did not get to enjoy that element of the property.

a beautiful home

My husband and I have stayed at this wonderful home before, and recently brought our friends to the Rock N River home for some time together. They were truly amazed at the beauty of the house and how well it was kept. We shared in the beauty of the area, explored into the North Cascades, and surroundings, and took lots of pictures! The home was a great place to stay, and we so enjoyed the comfort and amenities that are too many to mention! The fireplace warmed us at night, and we loved cooking together in the kitchen that had nearly everything we needed - and then some! Comfort and relaxation - that describes this home perfectly. The owners were attentive yet unobtrusive, and are lovely people. They gave us some great suggestions, and information. We know this will not be our last visit - we love this home so much, and the love of the owners is truly evident. It's our favorite place in the North Cascades - so much that I would like to keep it a secret! But, it's so perfect, I have to share so that others can know how wonderful and perfect a home this truly is! We will return soon!

Beautiful location and comfortable

Cabin is beautiful and being right on the river was breathtaking! I will say that for a house this size we were disappointed in the heat and hot water situation. The wood fireplace was the main source of heat, as the radiant floor heating downstairs alone was just not warm enough. There was one space heater downstairs and one in the master bedroom but we did not feel comfortable leaving them on when we left or at night while we slept. So when we returned and every AM it was cold and it took hours for the house to heat up. Starting a fire every AM seemed a little laborious and we did not want to leave fireplace going while we left to ski so it was impractical. Temps drop down well below freezing here in the winter. The upstairs bathroom was cold no matter what - perhaps investing in a better space heater would be effective. Showers required a little planning as the water started to get less than hot after one shower. Kitchen was huge - great for our daily spreads! Love that it is dog friendly, although we didn’t bring our dogs this time. Overall a very peaceful stay!

That's NOT a Barbeque!

The location was great, and we did enjoy ourselves, and the house is well furnished with everything you might need, but with that said, there are several problems with it: They state they have a "barbeque" but unless you plan to cook just 3 burgers or 6 hotdogs, you are out of luck. It is smaller than the hibachi I snuck into my dorm room at Uni. I planned 2 evening meals around it and had to do everything inside heating up the house. The adults complained about the beds. We slept downstairs and with every tiny movement it would squeak and bounce and was so hard neither of us slept. Reminded me of old army bunks! Those on the king-sized bed said the same thing. The bedding was nice however. Very soft and cozy. With a wide-open floor plan, the noise is something to consider if you have little ones who go to bed early and rise roaring to go early :) One other problem was the air conditioner is located on the first floor way back in the laundry room. Cold air sinks; warm air rises. We had to have several large, loud fans going to be comfortable. Kids should bring bikes: lots of trails and places to ride.
