About this property

Lake Michigan’s South Shore beaches and Blue Chip Casino in walking distance.

My place is an updated 3 story, solid house, built in 1901 turned into a duplex by the previous owner. It’s very comfortable with an open concept design, sky lights, 2nd floor cathedral ceiling bedroom, with a loft (currently not used), full kitchen/dinning room/living room. There is a 65” TV in the living room and 60” TV in the bedroom both with high speed WiFi. There’s a full sized, washer and dryer in the basement for your convenience. The upstairs has a m queen sized bed. I have down comforters with duvet covers and comfortable linen. The 3/4 bath is upstairs off the bedroom and has a very large tile shower. The living room area has a large comfortable sectional couch. I keep the couch covered for easy of cleaning.
The backyard is shared with your host (when I'm in town). As summer 2025 I have new construction which includes a covered porch off a new garage that covers a 7 person hot tub. Also a Pergola on another deck. Please enjoy your coffee on the back deck in the mornings and your drinks in the evening. The deer can be seen walking down the road in the mornings and evenings. The racoons will be out at night so don't leave anything they might want. Parking is out front and the front door is the entrance. The back door leads to the nice common area that is sometimes shared with private hot tub usage can be requested and will be respected. I have privacy curtains around the hot tub area and back deck open spaces. At the moment I have not updated all my pictures and I’m accepting limited guests due to COVID and trying to find a new rhythm with the additional construction/common area. I think you will be happy the new space.
This location has been a 5 star location (with the “other” site) since I opened it for use in July 2017. We do all we can to make our guests very comfortable.
My recommendation, due to this space having just one 3/4 bath located off the upstairs bedroom area, would be no more then 2 adults with a maximum of 1 child. I will ask you to confirm you understand the bathroom is small and off the bedroom upstairs.

If you would like to enjoy a day on Lake Michigan, I have a 35’ Luhrs MotorYatcht in the MCPA marina (less then a mile away). The “Yeti” is a flybridge boat built for comfort and of course fishing. The boat is rigged for charter fishing but I don't offer official charters. We could arrange for a casual day on the Lake based on weather and availability. This would be something we can discuss separately. I require a gas donation.

I try to keep an initial stock of water and coffee for the keurig for your arrival. Take one leave one has been working well. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking but be nice to cleaning service (me)!

Nice place

The house is a great place for a weekend get-away. Located close to the beach, casino, bars and restaurants. The space is very clean and decorated nicely. The back yard area is very nice and the hot tub is a great touch. Would definitely recommend.

This place is cozy and sparkling clean. It's a nice, easy walk down to the beach. We were very comfortable in the house. Mark was very responsive and kind. The hot tub is wonderful. We would happily stay here again.

The house itself was cute, great neighborhood, really quiet, host was eager to please. Several small things with property: couch was uncomfortable, sound on tv was bad, dirty dishes were left in dishwasher when we arrived. Overall a great price for what we got, but little things could've made it excellent.

Cute neighborhood

We had a wonderful stay in this cute neighborhood. It is walking distance to the lake/beach, and to the Breakfast/Lunch 1 block up the street. The people at the restaurant were wonderful and the food was great. The house has a very nice kitchen open to the living room. Nice size TV. The only problem we had was no drip coffee maker only a Kurig and we didn't bring any Kcups. Bring your Kcups or go down the street to the awesome restaurant. We did not use the back yard with the covered patio bit it looks very nice. Had no problems with the door once I was able to remember the code. Bring your soap for the shower, we forgot ours and had to go get some. WiFi works great. If we come back to town we would definitely stay here again. Thanks for sharing your place.

Wonderful kid-friend stay!

Wonderful small condo-like feel duplex. Great for my wife and 2 small kids that were more interested in quiet blocks to ride bikes and short jaunts to the beach. Very clean, looks like it was entirely remodeled in the last year. All the mattresses were top-notch. Everything was clean. Grill and gazebo in the back were used many times by us. All in all, a wonderful, quiet, and relaxing vacation. Thanks Mark!

Mark is a phenomenal host and broke his back to give us an earlier check in! He is very dedicated to giving you the best stay he can. The property was perfect for my girlfriend and I who just needed a base of operations for our short trip to the area. We went over and hiked at the dunes, had a nice lunch at shoreline brewery, and spent a nice evening at Blue Chip casino which is only a 7 dollar uber away!

Very comfortable accommodations, and great location. There's a great dog park in the vicinity, and Radke's apple orchard where you can pick apples, and your dog is welcome. Although the back yard is not fenced in, there is a long tie-down to clip to your dog's collar so they relax with you outdoors. The bed is SUPER comfy ... zzzzzzz. We had a lovely time.

My family and I stayed here for Labor Day weekend and had the most fantastic time! The house is located in the heart of Michigan City, it was very clean, cozy, and comfortable. It was everything the description said it was and more! The owners are amazing and we will definitely be back!

I stay busy. I retired from the Army and Department of Defence as a Helicopter Standardization Instructor Pilot in Oct 2015. I have twin daughters currently 14 years old (2018). I'm spending a lot of time as a "Soccer Dad" this summer. My daughters are both very athletic. So, I will be busy with sports all season and trying to sneak away to catch salmon or walleye. I still fly but staying current can be a challenge at the moment. I'm always open to discussing parenting techniques, fishing, flying and bow hunting. Originally from a small in West Michigan on the Muskegon River. I travelled extensively during a long military career with my primary locations being in the Pacific Northwest, Southeastern Alabama and approximately 6 years over seas in various locations.

So, if you are viewing this as a traveler, it means your planning to come stay in my house. I would also like to know a few things about you. Tell me who you are (picture is nice). Briefly tell me what brings you to my area (don't need extensive details). Tell me a little about who is travelling with you.

I do not mind pets as long as they are well mannered and trained to chew up my furniture and long as you well mannered enough to pick up after you doggie's doo.

I'm positioned almost exactly between Lake Michigan and the Blue Chip Casino. You can walk to either.

What makes this property unique

You'll have priority access to the Captain's 35' Flybridge boat for fishing or floating/swimming. I'm a 100 ton Master Captain USCG rated. I also have a 2 seat kayak available and few bicycles you can borrow. (an older schwinn 21 speed upto a new Giant TCR carbon fiber road bike and women's Giant carbon fiber Liv) You'll need to let me know in advance if you would like to use the bikes. I only have one lock and I would need to know you be responsible for the high end bikes before I let them go.
