Our accommodation was very pleasant and welcoming, very clean and quiet. The peacocks were entertaining once we got accustomed over all we enjoyed our stay, The kitchen and bathroom was very well stocked.
Wonderful hosts. I had a few issues and they were super responsive. Place was clean and comfortable. Aki's beach is a reason to come here if you like quiet and quaint Hawaii. Only small thing was there were no spices (not even salt and pepper) as in the description. There is a close grocery store for all needs. Thank you Joe for all of your help!! Hope to be back soon!!!
The condo complex had AC issues during our stay, but the owner ultimately took steps to make the unit comfortable. The caretakers were phenomenal. Instant response with a smile.

Thank you for staying with us. Our building was under maintenance and AC was not cooling enough. We are glad that we could make it more comfortable.
Everything from check in to check out went very smooth. The view was absolutely beautiful. The pool area was very clean and quiet with a nice grill and BBQ area.
This was the exact getaway my family and I were looking for in Oahu. I'm super grateful we were able to stay here and it was much needed calmness and chill vibe at this location. This was also a last minute arrangement we made to stay here and it certainly worked out for us!
Enjoyed our 28-day stay at Makaha. Nice condo unit. Spacious bathroom. One of the best we've had in 4 years with VRBO. Laundry is conveniently located on the same floor. Management staff are friendly and helpful. Like that there is 24/7 security. Condo location is a bit further than we like, but it has all the amenities we needed for our stay. Entry to unit at Core 1.
Everything about this place was perfect! The whole place was clean and comfortable. There were plenty of utensils and appliances for anything you could need. Lots of closet space and storage space. The bathroom was so big and the shower was amazing! I am short and most shower heads are way too high. I loved that this one adjusted according to your height. And, the different settings on it were great. I loved the surroundings of the property. Seeing beautiful mountains from one side and beach from the other was just what we wanted. There were no other large hotels surrounding us and deterring from our views. Having the security guard post with an actual person there, made it feel very secluded and definitely safe. We used to have chickens, roosters and a peacock for many years until he died of old age. So, having so many peacocks, pea hens and chickens around did my heart good.We were doing so much every day that we only got to the pool one time. It was in the evening and we were the only ones there. The pool, pool area and BBQ area were very nice. They had tiki torches lite and it created a nice ambiance. The host was amazing. Any time I had a question, he responded immediately. He also gave suggestions on places to go and where to see wildlife. Aki’s Beach was one place he sent us to see sea turtles. It did not disappoint. We saw at least 4 of them swimming along with a seal that was just lounging.I would definitely recommend this place!
The property itself was very clean and really beautiful. We did have some incidents with a couple of the front gate employees that were really rude and actually yelled at my friend twice when entering the property. We complained to the front office who said they would address it with them. Other than that, the only other complaint is that once you leave the property, a couple of miles away, you are surrounded by countless homeless tents and camps that line the Makaha beach. It was not in the best part of town, the homelessness is out of control. Not what you would expect in Hawaii. With all of that said, the host was great, their apartment was very nice, just wish that the Makaha beach wasn't overrun with homeless camps. We had to drive a ways to get to a beach that didn't have them camping everywhere.

Thank you for your stay and your review. This review should be exclusively for apartment and what we offered you. It s unfair to comment about people that choose to live on the beach or slow island traffic. Thanks God you didn t complained about turtles you ve seen on Aki’s Beach that were naked all day long near the tourists :)
Comfortable accommodations in the unit, but could not open shades or sliding doors to the deck. The kitchen could use a cutting board and a new can opener. Be prepared to bring cash to pay 5/day for parking. Be sure your vehicle has current tabs and safety check.

Unfortunately none of your concerns were communicated during your stay. For your information, doors have a lock that need to be released to be opened. A new can opener? Really? Vehicle insurance and safety? None of these are related to property for you to give a 3 star!
You do need a rental car as this side of the island is more off the beaten path.
Perks of this are much less crowded beaches, a great taste of local flavour, west side. People are so friendly here. We enjoyed the security of our complex and even loved the peacocks that live on the property.

Thank you for staying at my place. I have to say that very few people notice the tranquility, the exotic, the birds and the simple life on the east side of Oahu. Most of people are these days attracted by Wakiki beach that is crowded and overrated. I have recommended Makaha Valley Beach for surfing, diving and snorkeling. I have to agree that people here are friendly, simple and traditional .
I enjoyed the stay at Iosif's place. The place was clean, and the views from the balconies were fabulous. It is very thoughtfully equipped with everything you could need for visiting Oahu. The kitchen was well decked out for eating at home, and beach gear was also provided! Makaha beach, which is roughly a mile from the complex, was one of my favorite beaches. The host is also very responsive, and he was able to address all my questions and requests quickly.
I would love to stay here again for a future Hawaii visit!
This property is very beautiful. The grounds are gorgeous. You are surrounded by mountains and beautiful gardens. Down the valley there is a nice and quiet beach. The neighbors are nice and friendly. There are wild peacocks on the property. We loved to watch them. Often we have seen the peacocks show off their beautiful feathers. It was an amazing experience.
The apartment is clean and well stocked with everything you need while on vacation. The beds are comfortable.
We really enjoyed our stay there.
Apartment was very clean. Great shower head. Bathroom well laid out. Beds were Ok and could benefit from a mattress topper. Well stocked kitchen.
Recommend guests to empty the refrigerator when they leave. There were fresh food items we had to throw away as they had been in the fridge too long.
Location is a bit out of the way, but it was fine in our case. We would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for your kind review. We kept condiments, ketchup, mustard and steak sauces but now we followed your advice and emptied the fridge as each guest might have a different taste. As well, we added memory foam pads to beds. Makaha Valley Towers is located on East part of the island and every guest we had, loved the untouched paradise and not crowded beach.
Beds very old. Had to sleep on the couch as springs left me with sore back and hips. Suggest at minimum 2-inch foam toppers on all beds. Kitchen cookware and stove need replacing. Shower needed thorough cleaning. Old food left in the refrigerator with mold.
Otherwise, the views are great, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again in the towers but different unit.

Hello Laura, I am surprised with your review as you have not reported to me any issues at the time of stay. We always had memory foams available in our locker and we use it when asked. Firm, soft and super soft beds are people choice. We have a professional cleaning company that sends us pictures and we didn’t see old food that has mold! Your updating term doesn’t refer to our unit that is been upgraded with 70k investment 2 years ago, please look at pictures.

Good trip but...
My two week stay was pretty good. The condo was spacious but it had a few cockroaches, a few of which were dying. One found its way into a glass of wine I had on the floor; yuck. The living room rug and couch were soiled and in need of cleaning. The cushions were pretty worn. The patio door was hard to open and close and one shade didn’t work. The door in another condo I went to opened and closed with ease. The kitchen was fairly well equipped. But, as a wine drinker, not finding any wine glasses was a let down. If you are bothered by the sound of peacocks yelling loudly at night be sure to bring ear plugs. The condo complex has a number of peacocks on the property. One hung out below my balcone which was cool.

One of the most important rule is not to leave open drinks and food on the floor or kitchen. This is a tropical place with green vegetation front and back, any crawling you attract is because of your bad habits. We do not have cockroaches .
Wine glasses are available on top cabinet, if you would contact me, I would tell you.
We had to replace the carpet because guests had ruined it, although it was less than a year old.
It was a lovely well stocked unit - felt like home after a 2.5week stay. The shower is amazing. Cute kitchen with everything you need. Host was pleasurable, helpful, and diligent, ensuring my stay was error free. Television works well, has HDMI input so you can run video ouput from your laptop to it. The two beds are of different calibers. One firm and the other soft, who doesn't like choices? It is a very quiet unit with no-one on one side, nor below. During the Tsunami scare this month, the Makaha Towers were the place to be! The pool is also very lovely and clean. I would definitely stay here again. The Makaha beaches were perfect for the recluse I am. It may not be for everyone, but those that like to walk the path less traveled, this is the place for you. I will definitely return. BTW: Who knew Peacocks mew? That's what they sounded like to me. Cute! Didn't bother me at all. It's not a hotel, so don't go into it thinking it is. Think of it as an apartment and there are things you should be prepared to do for yourself. Observe and respond accordingly to parking strategies, and loading. It's a bit of a walk to the unit from the elevators (I usually took the stairs), but you get used to it. Also, the grounds of the towers are just amazing. The vegetation and the mountains are beautiful. I spent quite a bit of time stargazing from the 18th/19ths floors at night in the company of a cool breeze.

The unit was not as clean as stated. Rug and living room furniture needed to be cleaned as well as the drapery. Lots of stains. We believe there is mold on the trim in the living room, but not sure. Too much stuff stored in the unit, did not have enough room to unpack our clothes and be able to put them away. Had to move bins that where filled with towels and sheets and etc. Hardly any room in the closet also. The mattresses where very uncomfortable. I think the biggest thing was that they never got back to us on the process of checking out. The whole unit needs a good cleaning. There was only 1 key to the unit. It would be nice to have another. The property was beautiful and we enjoyed the pool and bbq area. Loved seeing all the Peacocks, but they are noisey. We didn,t mind though.

For two guests that were very demanding, it s unrealistic to complain that there was no space. We supply beach, snorkeling equipment, umbrella that other guests appreciated. You had a chance to contact me on first day if cleaning was not up to your standards, but you never mentioned. Your check out was a trouble because you didn’t return parking pass to admin office, because you do not fallow property rules. You didn’t need a second key as you could leave it in lockbox. If you don’t like tropical places or peacocks, you should have stayed home. Vacation Rental By Owners it means to respectfully use and enjoy an owner place. In your case the mess you left the place, it took double time for my cleaner to fix. I do not recommend this guest and I will not like to host him in the future.
This was our 4th stay in Makaha and first time in Makaha Valley Towers. We absolutely love this part of the island as it is away from all the hubbub of the rest of the island. A rental car is a must due to the location but that was not unexpected for us. We arrive on the 4th of July and were overjoyed to hear the ooohs and aaaws for the fireworks in Peacock. While some may find the Peacocks off putting, we laughed at them and miss them now that we are away.
Joe was very responsive and we only wish we had checked in before getting supplies as most of what we needed was already there.
Parking is $4/day with an additional $50 deposition for the tag and needed to be paid in cash. The office was very flexible about returning with cash later so no worries. Upon leaving, when returning the parking pass, the $50 was returned which was a surprise as they said it was to be mailed.
Check in was simple, stopped at security when arriving to get temp parking pass and went to the office the next morning. These people were very friendly and flexible.
As for location, it is away from everything but everything is easily accessible. We enjoyed two evenings at the Kani Ka Pila grill in Waikiki listening to Sean Na’auao and Nathan Aweau who we absolutely love. We also enjoyed a Luau at Nutridge which was the best of the Luau’s we have done (Paradise Cove and Polynesian Cultural Center) and driving up the mountain we had a great view of the island that we had missed in our previous visits.

We loved staying in the Makaha area and the towers were a perfect place to stay. We loved waking up to both ocean and Mountain views everyday.
We left some stuff there by accident and the property manager and housekeeper have been great about helping us get the stuff back.
We highly recommend this VRBO!! Thank you!!
