Vacation at the Quiet Resort - This 6 bedroom (3 en-suites) 4 full bath and 3 half bath waterfront home is located on a canal adjacent to the Little Assawoman Bay, a short walk to the ocean beach and a 2 mile bike ride to Bethany town.
Fenwick Island State Park Beach is about 8 minutes south of the house on the east wide of route 1 - parking lot, rest rooms, showers, lifeguards, snack bar, umbrella rentals, and chair rentals.
There is also a bay beach about a 4 minute drive from the house on the west side of route 1, where children can swim, kayak, paddle board.
The house is perfect for family gatherings. It is designed with a reverse floor plan; 4 bedrooms on the 2nd floor with a bedroom on the 3rd floor along with the kitchen, dining and living areas featuring beautiful bay views. A 6th bedroom is on the 4th floor as well as a 2nd living /lounge area which is suitable for teens. .The 2 dining areas on the 3rd floor allow for seating up to 18 persons. An elevator is convenient for getting groceries to the 3rd floor kitchen. It is also a nice feature for assisting those who don't do well with steps. A second refrigerator and an ice maker are located on the ground floor. An outdoor shower can be found on the canal side of the house on the ground level to rinse off after a day at the beach.
We have house is decorated sparsely with ocean type motif for your relaxation and enjoyment.
We provide kayaks for your enjoyment while you stay with us.
Kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, crabbing, beach, surfing, fishing and beautiful sunsets over the bay are a few of the many activities to keep you occupied. Sunrise and Ocean views can be seen from the roof top deck. Sunsets may be enjoyed from 1 of 4 west facing decks. The home is located in Bay View Park adjacent to Little Assawoman Bay, a wild life preserve, where there are many wild waterfowl and is a beautiful area for biking, hiking, and kayaking.
We are located south of Lewes DE and about 12 miles south of Rehoboth Beach for where you will find outlet and boutique shopping and just north of Ocean City Maryland for those who enjoy activity and extensive boardwalks. Assateague, Chincoteague, Berlin and Salisbury, as well as Easton, MD and St. Michaels, MD are nice day trip destinations.

Wonderful stay for 3 generations

This house was wonderful for three families each with kids under 3 years plus a grandparent. The house is clean, updated, and had plenty of space for each family unit.

Great vacation

From the first step on the property everyone said “best house yet” .. from the youngest to the oldest it did not disappoint. Close to the beach , crabbing was great , the house was everything described.. thank you so much for a great family vacation.. btw we maxed out on the 16 guests and it all worked.

Wonderful house for our family

This house was a perfect size for a large family with different age ranges. Plenty of room to spread out. We also really loved the state park Beach within walking distance. It was never crowded like other public beaches and was gorgeous! We enjoyed cooking special meals and the OK cooking equipment at this house was

Wonderful for our family vacation

The house was great for our large family. Everyone was able to enjoy time together but still had space to spread out. We enjoyed sunsets from the rooftop deck, kayaking with the two kayaks, bicycling with the bikes provided and the uncrowded beach at the state park. We would definitely consider staying here again. The house was clean and Cherie was easy to communicate with.

Great stay on the canal Bayside!

The property is even better in person! Great access for my 92 year old mother… with an elevator for mobility! Everything needed for any family and celebration! Best view of the July 4th fireworks. The kayaks, bikes and beach things were perfect as was the canal fishing! Thanks Cherie for sharing this lovely property!

Beautiful house!!

Vacation Bliss

We stayed here in June 2010 and had the BEST time. The house is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need for a great getaway. Everyone in our party raved about the house and its location, it was perfect for all age groups -- we had toddlers, senior citizens, and active adults in between. Had a terrific time biking, kayaking and just enjoying the views.

Great house

Tremendous house with plenty of room and bathrooms. The elevator was a godsend since I am 87 years old. Only problem is getting to the beach is not that easy with construction going on. We would stay here again.

Amazing family vacation!

We loved spending our family vacation in this house. The amount of rooms, bathrooms, the large kitchen area, and the kayaks, made everything easier and more enjoyable for us. The whole was perfect! It was nice to be able to eat or just drink some coffee in one of the desks while looking at the canal. We will definitely rent this house again.

Beautiful house equipped with everything!

The house was beautiful and clean. It came equipped with all the essentials plus more (paddle boats, bikes, towels, water, etc.). Easily the best stocked house we have been to. Great deck views, good communication with the owner and easy process.

Helens cottage

This was no cottage. Beautiful house with everything u need in it, including an elevator and ice machine. Kayaks for cruising around the bay were a plus. Great views from the many decks

Wonderful Vacation

The house was great. It was very clean and well organized. It had everything you needed. My family really enjoyed the bikes and kayaks. You can really tell that the owner really cares about her house and goes there often. I definitely recommend this to a friend. I have been renting vacation homes for many years and I would say this is one of the best.

Spectacular beach get away!!!

Our entire family (including kids and spouses) had a wonderful week at this beautiful beach house. In fact, it's been a few weeks since we were there and we all are still talking about it. Everything was perfect...from the quiet canal overlook, amazing sunsets, fully equipped kitchen, boats, bikes, grill, beach chairs, cooler, crab cages, location...to Bethany boardwalk, restaurants, and beach access. The website was a true snapshot of this magnificent house. We hope to return next year and hopefully make it an annual family event!!!!

This property was perfect for our family of 12 which includes Grandparents, five adult children, their partners, one toddler and one doggo. Plenty of room. Very well appointed home with everything you could need. Elevator was a game changer! We rented paddle boards and used the kayaks, grill, dock and of course, the rooftop for sunsets!

Perfect beach stay

This house really makes for a perfect beach vacation. It’s in a quiet subdivision of Bethany, right on the bay, but is a short walk to the beach (which is hardly ever crowded). The house itself is beautiful and spacious. All the bedrooms are large, and several have en suite bathrooms. The furnishings and decorations are tasteful and not kitschy, and there are many thoughtful extras, like a roof deck, an ice machine, and an elevator. There are also so many other thoughtful amenities, like kayaks, bikes, crabbing cages, beach gear, games, and cooking spices. It’s really set up as if it’s your own beach house, with everything you might want on-site. We have nothing but great things to say, and we hope to come back in the future!

A lovely home that met all of our needs and more.

We had a very enjoyable family time with 3 generations of 11 adults and 3 fur babies. We were well equipped to live the beach and bay life with all the amenities provided by our generous hosts: beach towels, beach chairs, bikes, kayaks, crab traps, and the fantastic kitchen which was a joy to cook in too! We took every advantage of the gorgeous sunrise and sunset views from the decks— the rooftop view is expansive, and basked in the sun at the beach across the highway as well as at the handicapped accessible state park beach 3 miles south. The house was very comfortable especially for my elderly parents, and Cherie responded quickly to our questions. I hope we can stay again in the future—we’d love to come back!

Great getaway

Loved staying here with canal access for kayaking and fishing. Quick drive to end of neighborhood to walk to quiet beach (especially on week days). Short drive to restaurants in Bethany or fenwick. Was able to get outdoor seating for our party of 10 easily every night. Cherie was extremely responsive via text. Checkout was easy and mainly included emptying refrigerator and stripping beds. They use a sheet and bath towel service and next time would bring my own towels bc they weren’t the greatest quality. We often used our beach towels and just washed them. Great place to go during this crazy Covid time. Felt socially distanced from others every step of the way!

Totally satisfying reunion location

Our family (older parents, three middle-aged children and four teenage grandchildren) get together every two years at different locations around the country. Six-bedroom homes are difficult to find and the prices sometimes are not justified by the accommodations. This home, however, is worth every penny. The rooms are spacious, the common spaces are comfortable, the entire house is spotless, the appointments and supplies are first-rate, and even the decoration avoids common beach crud items in favor of tasteful items of taste and distinction. The owners were unfailingly helpful and gracious. We all felt sad to be leaving after seven days. Thank you, Cherie and family.

Excellent space

We really enjoyed having access to kayaks just out the door, being able to crab w the little ones out the back, and the very walkable distance to the beach. The beach wagon to carry items was great as were the many beach chairs and cooler. There was plenty of space in the house for a large group as well as privacy for each family. Kitchen had everything we needed and more, laundry was utilized and we used the grill several times. And parking! That was very helpful. I can’t think of anything else we would have needed. Our only confusion was about the recycling, but we got that sorted. The information talked about a green bin and our eyes only saw blue:) “Helen’s Cottage” was a lovely spot. Thank you! Our group enjoyed sunrise and sunset kayaking, and the birding along the way. A full moon from the rooftop was an added enjoyment.

A Great Time Was Had by All

Helen's Cottage is "our" vacation home without owning a vacation home. For many years we have enjoyed the wonderful amenities at this fantastic home. Everything you need is here to have a wonderful beach vacation. The community is great, through the week we feel like the only people there. It's close to the beach whether walking or driving. You are close to Bethany, Rehoboth, Dewey, Fenwick and all of the "in town" activities. There are kayaks, bicycles, a large outdoor gas grill, beach chairs, umbrellas and life jackets. Fabulous porches/decks to enjoy the view of the back bay and the beautiful night skies are at every level. The bedrooms are large and comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need except the food. This is literally a house that you can come to bringing only your clothes and your food. I don't think anyone in our group has ever had a negative thing to say about this house or our time spent here. Thanks for letting us call it "ours" another year!

Fantastic home, and I mean home not just a house!

This is an amazing place to stay. Right from the beginning you feel at home and feel like this is the beach house you earned after many years of working. The facility is top of the line - especially enjoyed having an elevator to get groceries to the third floor. Everything you need to get started was there from soap to paper products and even food staples, beach chairs, bikes, children's games, and kayaks. The bathrooms, kitchen,and beds are terrific - they even had a Keurig coffee maker in addition to a regular coffee maker in the kitchen. The location turned out to be convenient for eating steamed crabs in Ocean City, getting Fractured Prune doughnuts also in OC, outlet shopping in Rehoboth Beach, as well as dining at the Blue Crab restaurant in Bethany Beach and staying away from the crowds on the beach at Bethany. I also cannot say enough about the owners. We had a few questions and they were easy to contact and extremely helpful - they even scheduled good weather for our visit. I am no youngster, have been successful in life, have vacationed for many summers and stayed in some really nice places, but my whole family - children and grandchildren - agreed that this home has to be one of the best we have stayed in. I highly recommend it.

Never Disappoints

We are so fortunate to have found a property, no a home, as wonderful as this one to enjoy repeat summer family vacations. We just enjoyed vacation number 9, I think, at Helen's Cottage. I don't believe we have ever said, "Oh, I wish they had this or I wish they had that," because it's there. This is truly a place you can bring your clothes, your bathing suit and food and that's all you need. Beach chairs, boogie boards, kayaks, crock pots, wine glasses, ice maker, the list is endless! The house is wonderful, clean, beautiful views, fully appointed, incredible decks, definitely a place for a large family group. The neighborhood is great, close enough to the all the people traffic but far enough away that you can enjoy quiet peaceful evenings. The beach choices are endless, drive on, walk on, go into Bethany proper, bayside, oceanside, it's impossible to be unhappy here. Rehoboth and Ocean City are close enough yet just far enough away. Cherie, the owner, is fantastic. She responds quickly to concerns or needs before, during and after your stay. I feel like we're friends without having ever really meeting her in person. We highly recommend this home without hesitation. We are extremely grateful it has been "ours" to enjoy for so many years!
