Perfect getaway in the perfect location

This was our first time to Charleston and this beautiful place was in the perfect location. Walking distance to amazing restaurants and shopping. The place itself was super cozy and the private courtyard made you feel like you had your own private secluded quiet space. Host was very nice and accommodating. We will be back soon!

Nice place in a fantastic location

We enjoyed our stay very much. You cannot beat the location. It is within walking distance to anything in downtown Charleston. The outdoor courtyard was a nice place to enjoy some outdoor privacy in a hopping downtown location.

Blissful Marriage Retreat

What a perfect spot for my husband & I to enjoy time in Charleston while we did our annual retreat! Ashley has a beautiful space, tucked just off King Street, in the heart of downtown! It was quiet, elegantly appointed and spotless! Plus we were in the midst of all the hot spots for shopping and dining! We are already planning our return!

Exceptional location and luxury, perfect for couples

Residence is fully equipped and luxurious for a romantic getaway for two. The location is perfect, right on King St with everything within walking distance. Enjoyed the garden each day and utilized the kitchen, which is equipped with just enough to prepare dinner and enjoy a night in with the noise of King St isolated just enough by the front of the building. Parking was never issue, lot one block away that is $16/day and easily accessible, did not have trouble finding a loading spot on King St to unpack/repack vehicle.

Anniversary Weekend

Great location on King St. Near beautiful College of Charleston campus. Apartment is impeccable and as nice as the photos depict. Completely quiet. Parking is conveniently nearby. Only downsides, parking costs $18/day but with going in and out of the lot will average closer to $25 and the courtyard could use a little sprucing up. Otherwise a great value. We'd be happy to stay at this apartment any time we come to Charleston!

We booked for a whole week. It’s a nice cozy place in a bustling part of King Street. Parking is $18/day and a block & a half away-bummer with rolling luggage. Confusing instructions to get to a set of 3 keys to get through multiple gates. Inside was mostly fine but we didn’t use the unkept courtyard as we had hoped to. Walkable to little shops, liquor stores, restaurants. It’s a younger area of Charleston - we are late 50’s. Lots of college students. Nice place for a weekend stay.

Precise Location

My husband planned my birthday trip and booked this location- it was perfect! We were in the heart of King street within walking distance of food, drinks & boutiques. The only place we needed to take an Uber to was on the intercoastal and it was less than 10 minutes away. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. Especially with the extreme summer heat, the AC worked perfectly. Highly recommend for a couples getaway; we plan on reserving this location every time we visit. The owners were very responsive to any and all of our questions. Had it not been so hot we would have been able to utilize the outdoor courtyard, which is very shaded! We had a great experience.

Owner not responsive to major plumbing problem

The apartment was very clean, nicely decorated, and conveniently located. Unfortunately, on day two of our three-day stay the shower stopped working. We notified the owner immediately and he came promptly to assess the problem but was unable to fix it. Instead of calling an emergency plumber to repair the shower he said he would get someone there the following day because “these things happen.” So we had to bathe using only the bathroom sink instead of a shower (there was no bathtub) that evening and the next morning. We left for the day and in the afternoon the owner contacted us to say that he had arranged a hotel room for us as the shower was unable to be fixed that day. We returned to the apartment, packed up and moved to the hotel room. We sent a text to the owners requesting the following: 1) refund of our payment for the night with no working shower, and 2) a refund of the difference between what we paid for their apartment (with a kitchen, living room, outside patio and washer/dryer) and what they paid for a hotel room only. Their response was again that these things happen and they paid for our hotel so it was all “even.” While we understand that these things do indeed happen, a hotel room is not the same as an apartment and has a much different financial value. The owner was completely dismissive of the inconvenience to us on our vacation, and of our requests for any reimbursement. We have used VRBO many times in the past, but this experience has changed our perception of the protections offered to travelers who use VRBO. Clearly had we known in advance that the plumbing was broken we would not have rented the apartment and would have booked other accommodations instead. The fact that the plumbing stopped working during our stay should not be an excuse for the owner to avoid assuming financial responsibility for this situation and shift it to the renter instead.

In response to Kathy's review. My husband and I could not be more disappointed in her attitude from the time my husband arrived to the property after her notification that the shower was not working. How did we fail to respond to this matter? Here is what happened..... (As a side note, my husband and I cleaned this apartment ourselves because our cleaning crew did not show. We cleaned the shower the day before arrival and did not notice any problems. We would have never knowingly allowed them to stay if we had noticed any problems.They never mentioned a problem on the day of their arrival.) My husband arrived within 35 minutes of their call and inspected the shower and noticed that it was leaking from the center dial and when it was turned on, the water would not come out. He told Kathy and her husband that we would get a plumber in ASAP. She then proceeds to roll her eyes and demand it to be fixed that night. He tried to explain to her that this shower was made in England and that most plumbers have never worked on such a shower. Kathy huffed and rolled her eyes. Her husband then said that it would not be a problem, that they would wash off in the sink that evening and would wait for news from the plumber the next day. We had our plumber there the next morning. (Which meant that someone on his schedule got bumped.) The plumber told us that someone had turned the dial too far and had shred an internal part. He did not have the part need to repair. Once again, this is because the shower is from England and is a very high end shower. The part would need to be ordered. My husband then called me and I immediately booked and paid for a room at a five star hotel very close to the property. My husband offered several times to help them move, but Kathy's husband said it was no problem and not to worry. Then I receive an irate text from her demanding a refund. The entire time we were so very concerned about them and this problem. Not sure how we could have ever made Kathy happy. The fact remains, the shower was working on their first night and somehow the dial got turned too far in one direction. I know that it was not me or my husband. The shower ended up costing $1200.00 to fix. We did refund her security deposit under the idea that accidents happen, perhaps we shouldn't have.

Hidden jewel in the heart of downtown Charleston

We would give this property 5+ stars if we could. The owner was so very accommodating and easy to contact. The accommodations were just as pictured and had everything we needed. The location. Was perfect and within walking distance of all the restaurants and sites we wanted to visit. We would highly recommend this property!!
